Locely meal and service at the North Star Worthing

Just had a fabulous meal at the North Star Ember Inns Worthing. We had their special 2 and 3 course deal which was great value for money. My husband had the chicken tikka Kashmir curry with onion bhajis to start served with yoghurt and mango chutney dip and I had the rump steak (perfectly cooked). The service was impeccable and friendly. Desserts were delicious, vanilla pod ice cream and sticky toffee pudding with custard (surprisingly the lowest calorie dessert on the menu!!) Will definitely go again.

Disappointing

Visited Brewers Fayre Birmingham Street with family of 6. Food ok but was served on cold plates which in turn meant the food was cold quickly. Very disappointing overall. Have visited White horse Norton Stourbridge on several occasions. There plates were hot and server's said to be careful as plates were hot. Why should places differ so much.

White cross hotel Guiseley

White cross hotel Guiseley!
If I could give no stars I would! ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING SERVICE!! booked a table for 6 people, 4 adult 2 children (11and 7) as per the booking instructions, to include children in the numbers, got to to white cross and was seated in the "conservatory area" great! To the then told that children weren't allowed on that area and that we would have to move, ok not a problem, to then be told that there was no room in the "family area" and that we we're OK where we we're as long as the children didn't "Run around" which we would never let them do anyway,
to then be told that actually we would have to leave!! Yes leave!! And was told it was our fault as we should of stated that 2 of the party were children, when booking it does NOT state anywhere that you have to mention that unless you need highchairs in the special requests etc just to include them in the booking numbers WHICH I DID!!,being of the ages that they are obviously they are not needed.
Absolutely appalling treatment and policy from The White Cross Guiseley, so much for being a family establishment!

My emberinns app logged out

My app logged out.
Tried logging in but popup message with failed login.
Requested password reset email, which on app popped up failure message, but then email received password changed.
Now neither password works and locked out of the app!
Their support was incompetent and assumed I was a trader, so wasted my time!

Gone very much downhill.

Been going to Stone Trough in Rawdon, Leeds for nearly 20 years. Pub food, plain and fine. Nothing fancy. Every Christmas our family had a lunch together there. We had been away for a couple of months and last week we went and it wasn't good. Hardly anyone was in, the menu had changed and not for the better. A lot of the items have been removed. The food was cold but, thinking it was just an off day, we went again today. Not many people in again and no fish at all. After the food arrived we waited over 5 mins for the cutlery. We had problems with the order of a burger, the glasses were dirty which we returned and both the salads were very much below standard, slimy with oil/dressing, which we left. We went elsewhere for our desserts. We'd lost trust by then. The staff were pleasant and apologetic. We will not be going again. How sad is it that Ember Inns can turn a once thriving local pub into an empty shell with questionable food. I am truly disappointed.

Punchbowl

Punchbowl, Nottingham.
What has happened to this pub?
I've had some lovely meals in the past but my visit with family on Sunday 2/7/23 (approx 3pm) was awful. One of the Sunday dinners was stone cold and had to ask for it to be put in the microwave. Staff didn't seem interested. Never asked if everything was ok and it was all very weird experience. My mum tried to change the booking online beforehand from 3pm to 3.30pm, but said no other availability. When we got there, the pub was nearly empty? How has it been allowed to be rundown like this? Won't be returning

First visit to the Star Burntwood

First visit to the Star Burntwood, the staff were lovely, helpful and friendly, however the food was disappointing, my husband ordered the haddock which
was extremely small approx 4oz total battered weight and very bland, I had the lasagne again very small very bland, both portions we extremely small and we left still hungry, when our plates were cleared we asked if that was the general portion size he said it was, he asked if we enjoyed the meal we said it was very bland he said he would mention it to the chef won't be dining there again

Embers Inn Aylesbury

When entering an establishment that requires you to wait to be seated, I would normally find the notice of this near the main entry points, however, on this occasion it was adjacent to the bar in the middle of the Inn. This in itself isn't so bad, however it forces the customers waiting to block access to the bar, along with this I was waiting with my disabled son who isn't so steady on his feet.
Eager to get to eating we made our choice of posh fish and chips and a Hunter's chicken, with the side orders of onion rings and ciapata garlic bread.
Now please bear in mind, that at a push this Inn might do 150 covers during peak meal times on this occasion (@1900hrs) there were 12 plus 2 (my son and I). So when did our food come? 1 hour and ten minutes later our food arrives.
I could understand if it was busy, or we were at a Michelin star restaurant, this was neither.
To be fair the presentation was acceptable, however a point to note is that a hot plate does not mean hot food! The fish was cooked but was luke warm, as were the chips. Apparently, according to my son, the batter was chewy, the mushy pass were cold and chips barely warm.
The Hunter's chicken was cooked... barely luke warm, chips were cold, peas were cold and the onion rings were luke warm. When cutting into the chicken there was water between the cheese and the bbq sauce (for reference the Hunter's was stacked as chicken, then cheese, then bbq sauce, then bacon), so this would not fall under 'succulent' chicken.
The ciapata was cold and must have had a garlic clove passed over it using a bullet train. When eating, I noted that the outside was crispy (cold) but the inside at the bottom was soggy.
So... long story short...
Poor greeting, which doesn't inspire the customer
Poor waiting time, this is just a no for me, especially for none complex meals
Customer interaction was none existent
What could they do better?.. employ more staff with customer relations training
Cook the food fresh and stop relying on frozen equivalents, people do nor mind waiting if the food is good at then end of it!

Ember Inns - Essex Arms - AVOID IT

Sadly when one feels strongly enough as I did on a recent trip to the Essex Arms Ember Inns site to make a complaint, the least I expected was an acknowledgement of said message.

In a nut shell, we were there with friends a the food quality and appearance was rubbish. The service was at best awful. With no apologies from the team there at the time either.

So far 3 weeks (approx) later and no response from anyone and that was using the official links on the Ember Inns web page

Save your hard earned money and avoid the Essex Arms in Watford

Update: now five weeks since our visit and still have had no response from either the pub or Ember Inns customer service team.SHOCKING BAD CUSTOMER CARE

An extremely disappointing experience.

The Ancient Oak in Cottam hosted a car show recently that I attended. Having paid for food that I hadn't ordered, only for them to lose the order for the food I had, is bad enough. The rudeness of the manager was something else though. I complained, they apologised and sent a voucher, but they didn't offer to refund the overcharge though which was bad form. I won't go to an Ember Inns again, that's for sure.

Ember Inns continues to decline

Went to Ship Ashore Milton Keynes for lunch . The person in charge greeted us by calling over from her chair beside the bar. She was pleasant enough if you still find being called darling acceptable.
The good was served on time, my wife and I had pie , one with mash, one chips. The frozen peas were dry , cold and almost yellow. The mash and chips were cold. The pie was tasty but lukewarm. Beef gravy served with a chicken pie.
We did receive check back by front of house, but decided not to complain after recently visiting another Ember Inns pub nearby.
Clearly this company is on the decline as with many of its competitors. Years ago this was an above average meal out for a relatively low cost. It seems you get what you pay for now.
For a midweek lunchtime there were around 8 customers present.
Not completely surprising.
