Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. Received a letter on Aug 11 stating that I needed to make changes by July 20. Tried to log into the system to make changes and received and error that it could not be processed. Called customer service for assistance. Was given a case number and told they would look into it. Received an email the next day telling me to call back in. I had to reexplain the situation to 2 different people and got a massive run around on how to fix it. The customer service agent kept interrupting me so I could not get my issue explained. The website service is lacking, the customer service is frustrating. Would leave them completely if this wasn't the only option with my employer.
My retirement account was running…
My retirement account was running smoothly under Prudential then Empower too over and everything went backwards. I haven't been able to get a single document sent by email or fax. Just delays and vague promises of snail mail that never arrives. It's day 15 now. Still waiting. It's frustrating to feel this invisible especially when it's your life savings on the line.
I shouldn't have to beg to access my own retirement, FIFTH & heaven has been the easiest platform I have used. My portfolio keeps increasing while I keep getting fast withdrawals and great support.

it's hard to believe i trusted them with retirement funds. When something goes wrong, there is no real help just long waits and vague replies.
METIS URGE, has been a completely different experience. They communicate and act when it counts.
Horrible
Horrible. After 4 calls, repeating my address fifty time, I get this guy who suggests the easiest way is to start over. If you want the run around and like being told you are imagining having talked to someone else, by all means, put money into this company.
Below par company
Below par company. Their statements do not match with each other. I'm (literally) losing thousands of dollars out of my pocket because of them!
Run around with supposed "manager" making decisions.
This company acts like your money is theirs. They don't want to send it to you. I got run around when calling about my 457 account. I have been receiving monthly allotments since I retired. I've made changes twice to the amount. Now a supposed "manager" who I can't talk to says I can't change the amount. I am also planning on a lump distribution next year, but they won't put it in writing that I can do that. Don't use if you want access to your money.
Id go 0 if I could
Id go 0 if I could. Don't use them worse provider ever. Literally take days to process what other places did in hours or minutes. No customer support help whatsoever. Very tight rules. Trust me when i say pull your money out and move or dont start.

Empower is a joke for a 401K Retirement Partner Services. Your best beat is to roll over into a different plan than any plan offered by 401K.
Asking to pull from my own account them…
Asking to pull from my own account from them and asking for to do so for something serious want you to jump thru hoops I will NEVER INVEST WITH THIS COMPANY talking about have to quit a job just to get your money back but let someone say home repairs they will honor the request no problem y'all have the nerve to ask questions that is personal you don't know a person situation it's embarrassing im guessing you want pictures too and you all are unbelievable for future ppl do do it all a person want to do is just move and get a decent place with running water and a kitchen and not live on the street had I said home repairs I probably would have gotten it but quitting is better and not signing back up the next time
A total scam beware of giving them anything
My original employer was replaced by another one who took over running their food and beverage operation. I had never had a 401(k) with the original employer, and I had only signed with them three days before the transition. Next thing I knew when the new company took over they opened the account with Empower for me Without my approval or even telling me I found out about it when they were taking money out of my check and I was told they had some kind of automatic deferral that allowed them to do this when I told him I wanted my money back and I never signed anything. They told me it would take two months to get it Back so I went to HR who told me they knew nothing about the 401(k) company Empower as it was a third-party and did not involve them they had a number for me to call the call was worthless so I spoke to an attorney who is on retainer for another business I am involved. Here is what we have learned so far Empower apparently is hooked up with a large portfolio of employers who have a lot of employees and in a scam racket the employer signed everybody up with an account without their permission and then tells them they have an option to opt out, but they must use it. Eventually, my money was returned, but both the employer and Empower refused to give me admittance that I never signed anything to enter in Power and do not want them to have my personal information. I tried the reason with them, but they finally refused if you are reading this review and the word Empower comes up one for the hills as it’ll be the worst experience of your life as you can tell by reading most of these reviews.
Empower left me Enraged
My former employer used Empower for our 457(b) deferred compensation. The plan offered good investments options and even guided portfolio services. The issues began when I retired. I tried to make a withdrawal request through my on-line services and received a message saying I needed to call Empower.
Empower said there was a restriction on my account, which prevented me from making a withdrawal. The rep said it was because I was still employed. I told the rep I had been retired for well over a year. He sent paperwork up the chain stating this and a week later, we tried to withdraw funds over the phone with another rep. I called my former employer and no one seemed to know what I was talking about when I mentioned "a restriction on my account".
I was contacted by Empower again, stating I had to make the withdrawal request using a hard copy form. I was shocked to see that if I wanted the funds directly deposited into my checking or savings, there was a $15 fee. Really? I was made to jump through hoops to ASK for MY money and then I am charged a fee for the privilege getting MY money.
I gave it a 2 rating because it was good as long as I put into the program, but getting my money was a horrible experience.
Empower signed me up without my…
Empower signed me up without my approval and deducted money from my pay two weeks in a row. My HR was only able to recoup 1 week. I had to pay 50.00 to get the second week back
HORRIBLE customer service
I recently lost my job and submitted a 401K withdrawal form 3 weeks ago, got the email saying the form was accepted only to now be told it was rejected because it needed an actual signature and not an e sign via adobe which I was able to do on the form. I had a rep I was talking to about the request originally and they did not check on it, I received no emails on the status and there is nothing on the portal for the status. I was the one that had to reach out several times to my rep, Adam Parker to ask what the status was only to be told that it needed an actual signature versus a e signature and that I have to start completely over. And when I said to my rep, Adam Parker that I would have expected him to follow up on the process of the request as part of a customer service, he got mad at me ! They do not care about their customers, only the money.
Scam
Scam company awful communication. Sold my plan to someone else with out any notification to me.
This company is disgusting
This company is disgusting! They stole $1700 and say they don't know where it went and they make up many excuses as to why they can't find it. I've been on phone for a week straight, still nothing but hours of holding lies excuses & hangups!! Stay far away for these crooks !!
Trash
I can't believe this company handles my retirement money, good luck trying to get help from them for anything.
It took 39 minutes of repeating myself…
It took 39 minutes of repeating myself to the robot to get to speak to a human being. All I wanted was a form to designate a beneficiary. My time is valuable to me. Do NOT get involved with Empower if you can help it!!!
Empower has horrible customer service
Empower has horrible customer service, will not properly answer questions only send you a generic email. I have been trying since April to update my beneficiary and it is now June and it has yet to be completed due to incomplete paper work "so said" I have done everything and for me to have to go through all this back and forth just to update my own beneficiary is completely RIDICULOUS!
I honestly wish my employer would find another 401K company as this has been an on going NIGHTMARE for me.
empower is the worst retirement…
empower website and customer service is a joke. This is not a financial company. Their website shows wrong rate of return and doesn't allow the user any flexibility to see the data except in one way. Their representatives are generalists who know nothing about financial matters. It is impossible to setup online meeting with a financial advisor. This company should not be in the retirement savings business. Stay away from empower and pressure your employers to drop them.
Corporate greed at its finest
Corporate greed at its finest. Cost down iniatives drive the change, and little guys like me suffer. If youre thinking about empower for your 401k, please dont. Or if you do, tell your customer straight up, we dont care about you, its about a few more dollars in our pocket.
