If I could give zero stars, I would, BEWARE

If I could give zero stars, I would. Do not switch to this company. Their customer service is awful, they bait and switch. I've had multiple providers over the years and never had any "issues" with any of them. The rate you saw was the rate you got. Not with Energy Texas. Beware.

Sold me like property

Entered a 36-month contract in good faith. Then, 14 months into said contract, Energy Texas sold my contract to Discount Power (who are an AWFUL company). Contacted Energy Texas to discuss my options, rather than transfer to Discount. Was told flatly that I had no options. It was in my contract that they could sell me without my consent, and I could pay the $500 early term fee if I wanted to find my own new provider. Just because its in the fine print of a contract doesn't make it acceptable to treat customers like slaves. Do NOT trust Energy Texas or do business with them. They are highly unethical.

Scam company

The company offers rewards for things like paying your bill on-time. If you redeem the points anytime near the end of your contract and then switch to a different provider, they will delay sending your chosen reward until you're no longer a customer and then claim you don't qualify for it because your account is closed! They had nearly 3 weeks to send my reward and never did. Their terms and conditions state it could take up to 60 days to receive your reward, but this is a delay tactic used by them because they know people will most likely attempt to redeem their points just prior to switching to a new provider. When I first signed up with Energy Texas, it took only 7 days to receive a promo gift card. Hmmm it's amazing how when you first sign up with them, it only takes them 7 days to issue the reward; but when you're leaving them, it now magically could take up to 60 days! You're fooling no one Energy Texas! You're a scam company that should be shut down. I redeemed my points and gave you ample time to send my reward before the account was closed. Now, I miss out on the reward because you strategically took your sweet time! Energy Texas is an unethical company who can't be trusted.
