Poor, spent 4K car is worse than it was before I took it for repair….. total crooks!
If only I had read some of the reviews.......Car went in for a rebuild just before lockdown 1 and there it stayed until November!! Many calls and emails to engine-works and ABM Autohaus in Sutton Coldfield. Every excuse under the sun, 6 new parts including an engine block cam shaft required initially turned into a new clutch, starter motor and CPU unit. Picked the car up and managed to wangle a couple of hundred off. Drove it home gingerly only to find the turbo pipe had blown off which I got fixed locally at their advice with a promise of repayment. Also had to fix a leaking injector and now the turbo is playing up. Still awaiting repayment. Not returning the calls and phone going to answerphone. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS.
Like others before me, I did not read reviews before. Avoid this lot. They pester you until they get your car and after that you will be chasing after them when they are unreachable, never return messages. Company not registered, the chaps wont give their full names, insist on cash in hand - AVOID
I - like others - wish I had seen these reviews first. I didn't. It took six months for my van engine to be refurbished with little customer care and the need to collect from 70 miles away. TBF the mechanic who did the work was great but he said if I had gone direct to him the work would have been cheaper. I was trying to chase recovery of extra transport costs I had to pay but emails keep bouncing back: news that the website no longer exists does not surprise me one bit.
All I can say is I wished I’d of read the reviews from here, exactly the same problems as everyone else.
My experience was slightly different but ended the same. In May 2020 Engine-Works took my car and delivered to a garage in Coventry. With little communication from them but eventually and with the help of the garages main mechanic my car was delivered back in June. Fully working no more money paid apart from I paid to have it redelivered to me.
That's when all the problems started. In September 2020 the engine started mis-firing again with EM light on. So I got back in contact with Engine-Works. Eventually at beginning of October I was contacted to say the garages mechanic would get back to me. 2 weeks later he finally, after several calls, got back to me. After a diagnostics check from a local garage to confirm engine failure the original garage agreed, under its warranty, to take back my Qashqai. October the 21st it was picked up no call from garage, just a transporter rang and then picked it up.
After several emails to engine-works, on December the 3rd they finally answered apologising for lack of communication, the garage should have contacted me themselves. They hadn't and to this day still haven't contacted me!! Engine- Works confirmed the car would be ready by end of the week.. In 2 days time!! A week later Engine-Works had no contact with the garage either! By this time I had spoken to citizens advice who said to keep spamming emails and calling them. I had and no reply or answer from anyone. On 16th December Engine-Works emailed to say the engine was back in car but reported a slight misfire and Engine-works will get back to me at end of the day. On the 31st December after no more contact the emails started to bounce back and the Engine-Works website was taken down!!! I had involved the police who told me that they couldn't do anything to help as was a civil matter. The garage seemed ok the first time round mechanic was helpful and normally replied in a day or 2 then suddenly stopped all contact. Infinity MOT ltd is the garage and they are registered and still working and paying their taxes according to companies house! So where the hell is my car!! Due to lockdown and my wife needing her car I cant get from Oxford to Coventry to check out the garage. I cant afford a solicitor hoping that I would get money back. Engine-Works are a little office in a Portsmouth Industrial estate that I think have finally gone down. And struggled to keep what that had going. But the lack of communication about what's happening, to paid customers is disgusting. Not only did I have to pay for a hire car I have now had to buy a new car to get around.
Initially if my car had been returned and never gone wrong I'd have given the company 4 maybe 4 1/2 stars and a praising comment, despite little communication. But now after the disgusting way I have been treated over the warranty which they are entitled to sort out for me and from reports from others about the way they have been treated I wouldn't give this company a single star. Its only their luck in that Trustpilot only give 1 as a minimum they have it. If these finally re-appear don't bother using them they are a disgrace.
DO NOT even think about using this company, they are an absolute disgrace! They said they would give me an update within 10 days (never did) and also said the car would be done within 3 weeks. 2 months on and my car hasn't been completed and they are wanting an extra £1600 to carry on the work.
Their phone line does not work, and I have now just realised that their website has been taken down.
Does anyone know why their website could have been taken down? If so please either comment or leave a review to help me out.... thanks!!
But once again..... DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!
My vehicle was collected after a deposit was paid and 5 months later I received my vehicle but part way through they tell you that extra money is requied for parts and request payment of this first before starting the repair, when the vehicle was returned no paperwork was sent as to confirm what work was carried out or receipt of payments made, DO NOT use this company, HMRC will be notified.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They have now had my L200 for over 3 months and still have it! there is no contact numbers that you can ring, they don’t call you back then when they do they just tell you lies , they send your vehicle to a back street garage that don’t no what they are doing at all, the garage has not done the work that I have been quoted or show proof what has been done, it’s now in a worse state now than when it went to them, ENGINE WORKS ARE A CON DO NOT USE THEM, I have now got my solicitor involved and arrange for the police to attend the back street garage for when I collect as I can’t take anymore of this, I am also working with trading standards so both engine works and the garage get investigated. Shocking company!!!! Please do use them! Alan.
Do not deal with this company, when you pass your vehicle to them they give you promises of keeping in touch but you do not hear from them unless you constantly email as the phone number does not work !!
They out source your vehicle to someone you do not know. I had to pay extra for parts that I had not authorized, this added another £700.00 onto the invoice. NOT AT ALL HAPPY
I’m stuck as to where to start as this company is so bad. They have now had my car for almost 9 weeks after telling me the job would take 3 at the most. They are impossible to get hold of on any of the numbers provided, and do not answer emails nor telephone calls. I have kept a log of every communication and will be contacting trading standards. Everything this company tell you us a lie. They do NOT have their own garages and they do not care once they’ve had your deposit. There is no updates as promised and contact ing them is near impossible. Im now considering buying a new car and seeing these charlatans in court.
My L200 was collected 13th August 2020 and taken away for repair to Northampton. I have been trying since then to get in touch to speak to someone about this and get my vehicle back but no one returns calls or emails or even answers the phone. I have tried three different numbers including the one shown on their website. I have contacted the police now for advice because the last resort now is to register my L200 as stolen. I have no other option it would seem. I cannot locate any details on house of companies for Engine Works either.
The above was my original review left on 29th Oct 2020 which finally got someone's attention at Engine Works because they contacted me shortly after. I was told that my L200 had been finished and was being taken for a test drive. I pointed out that due to them having the vehicle for so long the MOT had ran out. I was told that if I took the review down urgently then they could arrange for an MOT to be put on my vehicle as a gesture of goodwill and gave me a post code of where the L200 was. After numerous requests I took the review down. Hardly surprising that all correspondence then stopped. I chased them again (a whole week has now lapsed) asking for an update and to advise that I would be going to the garage that has my car if they didn't respond. I have visited the garage today and my L200 has no engine in it and all the parts are scattered around the workshop floor. Updates from the garage conflict with what I was led to believe by Engine Works. It seems I was manipulated to remove my review on the pretence of a free MOT.
Engine Works do not have their own garages as their website says. They use back street garages with non English speaking people so trying to deal with them is extremely difficult. The photos of my L200 are shocking. Since seeing the condition of my car I have reinstated my review and added to it. I am seeking legal advice with regards to this.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Do your homework and go with a reputable one and save yourself the hassle I am dealing with.
Absolutely appalling company who prize themselves on "excellent customer service!" They had my car for 6 weeks and I had to chase continuously only be sent 100 miles to collect my car from a run down garage who specialise in BODY WORK!! £3000 for an engine rebuild and repairs to oil pump and I collect a car a with from a dirty, stinking garage where the staff don't speak any English only to find the engine management light came on ten miles down the road and my car has no power.
The company are not specialists at all - they are con artists who couldn't care less about helping customers!
Please, whatever you do DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
