DO NOT HIRE FROM THIS COMPANY/BRANCH

DO NOT HIRE FROM THIS COMPANY/BRANCH. WORST EVER HIRE EXPERIENCE.
I have had ongoing issues with Newport enterprise after hiring a van for 1 journey. Picked up van from Newport (Chepstow Road) to York (extra £50 charge for 1 way which was fine). Van had exterior and interior damages throughout and a half full tank. We were reassured by staff member that damages were too small for them to care about, and they showed me on an iPad that they had 0 damages documented for this vehicle on their database as visible damages were “too minor”, even though to look at the van looked heavily used, to quote staff member van was “a bit of a mess”. Luckily alarm bells started ringing and I took slow walk round video of van inside and outside. When we arrived at York branch, staff there were not impressed with state of van and noticed tires were bald, and they deemed it unsafe for a long journey (like we just did), and were disappointed they couldn’t actually hire it out again that day. They were going to charge us for the damages to interior and exterior and tires until we were able to show them the damages were pre existing to our journey by the video I had taken. York branch said we would not be charged for damages and we would not pay the £50 one way charge for the ordeal - this was not the case. York branch had opened a claim with Newport branch about the damages. We felt as though Newport branch had tried to set us up and send us out of city with their worst vehicle and get us to pay for the damages because they had not recorded ANY on their database, this shocked York branch. We then realised we had been charged £300 for damages and one way charge. I contacted the claims team and they were unsure why we had been charged as their database clearly stated the damages were not our fault, and let me know that the charge had come from Newport’s damage team, it then took us 10 days and we only got back £250. I don’t take writing a bad review lightly and I like to see the best in people first and I thought maybe there had been a misunderstanding or an innocent mistake made by Newport branch that they could explain. Therefore on the 12th June (please feel free to check back on call records to prove this statement), I called for 2 hours trying to reach Newport (baring in mind this is their only number to contact if you are in trouble with a vehicle or need assistance) I believe they were silencing my call. I eventually got through to Matthew, I spoke calmly and asked for an explanation to what I had experienced looking for a misunderstanding with the van and charges etc. He went on hold to check records, when he returned he asked me what the damages were and when I started he put the phone down (call only lasting a couple of minutes). I initially thought line had lost signal, but when I tried to call back he never answered again and I never heard from Newport branch ever again (3 weeks ago), if that doesn’t sound guilty I don’t know what does.
I have received no compensation, and never got the £50, no one from enterprise has ever called me or contacted me due to these issues despite putting in 2 formal complaints … still waiting for these issues to be sorted or to at least hear back from the complaints team. It has been exhausting and ongoing, and a huge ordeal for hiring a van for 1 journey. Would most definitely not recommend for quality of vehicle, for long journeys, for customer service or for ease of contacting branch if you have an issue with your vehicle.
Ultimately we felt that Newport branch had tried to pull a fast one on us, and this was confirmed by the random charges (even though we had proved damages were pre-existing) and the lack of communication or hanging up and never calling back. Worst hire experience I have ever had, as an experienced traveller.

Trying to charge me for lost items that werent there in first place.

My car dealer, repaiting my own car, provided a hire car from Enterprise Huddersfield. It should have been available on Sunday ooh. It was available 40 miles away @ LeedsBfd Airport to collect...I had no car to get there, idiots. It was eventually avalable Monday, but I couldnt get to branch until Tues. Took photos and inventory before leaving. Also noted car should have been serviced 600 miles ago. Thete was a chip on windscreen they missed, but i took evidence photos. Enterprise Halifax (different branch) collected the vehicle the following Monday and then proceeded to try and charge me £200 for " lost wheel nut and passenger shelf" . When I viewed the car in Huddersfield neither were there, so couldnt be missing. Have rung Halifax and said, since it didnt come from them, they couldnt possibly know either way. Then had to ring Hudds to confirm items were not in-situ when viewed . Both branches said they will talk to each other. Have said I will not pay as feel am being scammed. Have asked for email from Hudds confirming i will not be charged. Beware.

A disaster

A disaster! First time with Enterprise. Had the car for a week. On delivery they took no photographs and when I pointed out numerous scuffs I was told that Enterprise only consider dents to the bodywork as damage. When they collected the car they said I have to pay for a new tyre as there was a mark on the tyre. No photographs to prove it was there when they delivered it!! Trustpilot are now asking me to review CreditLink Account Recovery Solutions which appears to be harrassment as they have today sent 4 emails! Ombudsman - here we come.

Dishonest business model

After not agreeing to upgrading the insurance, at an extra cost of about £400, we did have our suspicions that they would try and get more money out of us another way. Sure enough, they helped themselves to £600 from our credit card citing a scratch on a tyre (not the wheel) as a reason. I took photos of the damaged wheel before driving away but this wasn't enough evidence, apparently!
Disgusted with their business model; just be honest and charge more for the actual car hire rather than aggressive up selling insurance or charging for historical damage. Makes me wonder if they use the same scratch to extract money from several customers!

Over two weeks ago I booked a car for a week using their online booking system. I paid £286 which was taken from my account. On arrival at the Wigan branch I was told there wasn't a car for me. The apologetic assistant told me that the money would take 5 days to reach my account. Over two have passed and no sign of my refund.

Last minute cancellation.

Booked a van for moving house. The booking was confirmed and payment taken. I was then called at 5pm the day before the house move to be told that they were overbooked and I couldn't have the van! They tell me I should get a refund in a week or more.
Absolutely rubbish!

Lot's of car options available , booked a cab to go get the car and receive a phone call saying there wasn't any cars of any description for 2 days. And I have to wait 48 hours for a refund. What if this was my only money I had for a car hire. Utter rubbish service. Don't bother

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Enterprise. Unknown charges !!!

We were provided with a hire car through our insurance after our own car was involved in an accident. During the hire period, we had a flat tyre. I called Enterprise for advice and explained that there was a garage right next to where I was. I asked if I could simply take the car there, but I was told to wait for the AA instead.

I followed their instructions and ended up waiting over three hours for the AA to arrive. The following day, I then had to pay to have the tyre replaced.

Two months later, I noticed that Enterprise had attempted to take £178 from my bank account. When I called to ask why, I was told it was to cover the AA call-out charge.

What I find unacceptable is that nobody informed me during my initial phone call that I would be charged if they sent the AA. Had I been told, I would have gone to the garage next door and avoided the charge altogether. When I raised this, I was simply told that it was “in the terms and conditions.”

When we collected the hire car, we were not given the terms and conditions to read. We were simply asked to sign the paperwork and told that we would be responsible for things like traffic or parking fines. At no point was it explained that requesting roadside assistance through Enterprise could result in an additional charge of £178.

To make matters worse, they also tried to charge us an additional fee even though we had already paid for the replacement tyre ourselves. It felt like they were looking for every possible opportunity to add extra charges.

Based on this experience, I will never use Enterprise again, and I would advise anyone considering renting from them to read every detail of the agreement and ask about every possible charge before signing anything. In my opinion, their charging practices are unfair and their communication with customers is poor. If I had been properly informed about the AA charge, I would never have agreed to wait for them and would have used the garage next door instead.

Terrible company staff at there…

Terrible company staff at there Dumfries branch promise you one thing then deliver another!! I had a car due to mine being repaired I told them when I needed it it came a day late, I missed a night shift due to where my work is situated! I felt staff were lying to me right from the start. Once the car was retuned I received a call asking how things went and when I told them they offered me £50 which never arrived even though I lost more than that due to their lies and incompetence!

Shocking service and unwarranted charges.

Shocking service , totally unwarranted and unexplained charges taken despite them being disputed.

Tried to charge me almost £500 for a key that was misplaced and then found, when I disputed the matter they put the charge on hold however a few weeks later they simply reduced the amount by £20 and took the money from my account without warning and without explaining exactly what the charge covered.

They don’t have transparent processes, charges or even an easy way to make a complaint. They ignore the BVLRA code of conduct that they sign up to.

Awful company to deal with, if you don’t want to be ripped off I suggest going elsewhere for your car hire.

Hired a 1 day weekend van from Hereford.
Dealt with by Rosie and Dan.
Issue and delay with reservation/pick up time but they were above board and transparent.
Got a free upgrade which worked out better.
Great 1 day weekend price, which is all I needed, while a local firm wanted a whole weekend booking and additional mileage.
Had to wait 35 mins for service on collection, but Dan and Rosie were flat out with 6 customers ahead of me and just the two of them.
Hassle free, decent service despite the glitch, friendly and helpful, and overworked staff.
Thank you Rosie and Dan.

This is about the Wellingborough…

This is about the Wellingborough office.
The manager there, and apologies his name escapes me, was very helpful with my purchase of my recent rental. Initially rented on line but needed to extend for family crisis reasons. I felt that he listened and understood my predicament but the face to face conversation is a bonus. I’ve had some difficulties in the past, with car problems as I always rent through enterprise but couldn’t fault this manager…

Cancelled my booking without refund

Got a call telling my booking would have to be cancelled, because they couldn't associate me with my address and I didn't have a credit card I was upset but whatever, however they never even cancelled my booking, and three weeks later I still have no refund. If they finally get my refund to me I may amend my review but would maybe be two stars instead of one. Judging by other reviews it's unlikely I'll ever see that money again either way avoid this provider at all costs.

Edit: finally got a refund, the day I would have returned the vehicle, I got a call asking why I had not picked it up, they claimed the person who had called me was an intern, a few days later I did get a refund but I still wouldn't book with them again.

I hired a car from Enterprise at London Heathrow

I hired a car from Enterprise at Heathrow airport from the 10th to the 15th June 2026.
The hire agreement I signed on picking the car up was for £377.75.
I returned the car with a full tank of fuel on the 15th of June, the guy who checked the car said everything was fine, and I would receive my receipt by email.
The receipt I received, and the payment which was charged to my card was for £532.76, with unexplained additional charges.
I tried contacting customer services, including sending an email, but no response whatsoever.
I am absolutely disgusted with this company, and however much they say they value my custom they won't see me again.
Unbelievable rip off.

Awful

Awful. Battersea enterprise has almost tripled the cost by claiming tyre damage that could easily have been there when we picked it up- and we’d got the extra insurance cover. Charged us £330 for a tyre. And don’t respond to emails.
Avoid at all costs. Sixt much better.

The booking system that's a scam.

On Wednesday I booked a van to be collected on Saturday. I am helping my daughter move flats and she has to be out by Sunday. The booking was accepted and confirmed by e-mail. I got a phone call at 18:30 on Friday evening to say that they don't have a van. Too late for me to find an alternative. My daughter now faces the prospect of having her furniture dumped on the street. As this is the second time that this has happened in 3 months, I am beginning to think that this is policy. Take the fee knowing that no vehicle is available, when done multiple times a day it becomes a massive interest free loan. It is also fraud.

Avoid!

The facts:
- I booked a car on their website on the 24 June AM.
- I received my booking confirmation by email.
- I went to the Paddington agency to collect the car at the agreed time.
- After queuing, showing all my papers, I paid c £50 for the car and £200 for deposit.
- I was then said there was no car for me and that the branch manager will call other customers to understand at what time a car might be available for me. Unbelievable!
- I could not wait so I had to cancel
- I sent a complaint. Still no answer. And I am still waiting to get my money back.
