They will ignore correspondence that shows you have paid whatever charge them are claiming and run the clock down on you to force you to pay.
Got sent a charge for apparently not paying a vignette. The letter didn't show my registration clearly or was even dated so had to contact them to find out if it was my vehicle and when I had to pay by.
I sent EPC PLC proof that it had been paid (credit card statement and google maps timeline showing that I stopped at the first petrol station in Hungary where I paid it) and heard nothing back so I chased it up. According to them, they had received nothing from me. This happened three times. That seems very convenient to me. I've ended up paying the charge so it did not escalate. Unfortunately the time taken to challenge this in court would cost me more than the charge so even when I would have successfully won in court, I would still have been out of pocket. They will run the clock down on your to force you to pay. This is extortion!!!
Finally the administration costs worked out to almost the same as the fine. Everyone has access to Chat GTP these days. It does not cost £64.08 to translate a document from Hungarian into English. Its pure profit.

27€ for a one minute drive through in parking area in Oslo.
I live in Scotland. On 26/9/25 I was driving my car enroute from Scotland via Cairnryan to Belfast to Rosslaire to catch the ferry from Rosslare to Bilbao in Spain During the journey I passed via the M50 Dublin .I did not see any highly visible signs indicating I had to pay toll by 8pm the day after ie the 27th September.,also by this time I was on a ferry to Bilbao Spain. I did not return to my house in Scotland until 23rd December where I found 2 letters first a standard toll request second an unpaid toll notice . While I accept that I as liable to pay the toll charge of 3.8€ I find it totally unacceptable that I have been fined for ,in essence, not being at home but on holiday in Portugal, being unaware of the toll charge(I live in Scotland) and this is my first time on this motorway to try and navigate your complaints procedure and then receive a standard reply which included "Please note
that any further communication which does not contain new pertinent
information or evidence will not be entertained or replied to" I do have evidence by way of my passport being stamped on arrival and departure from Bilbao and ferry tickets . I await your response
An appalling company, tries to avoid its own rules so that you have to pay no matter what. They also charge an extortionate fee on top of the original fine.
Regarding the reply from epcpic, I have already sent all of the documentation I had (twice!). That is my point"

0 star for EPC. Poor communication and customer service. I submitted my appeal on this matter, providing all relevant information and evidence, yet I have not received any acknowledgement or reply from your company. Despite this, I continue to receive further penalty charge letters, which is both stressful and unacceptable.

Why is there no communication? Nothing. A letter sent 6 months later with a 600 pound charge on it. Only to be told I’m responsible to see the road signs. YOU are responsible to notify people. If you want money out of our pockets, make it NOTICEABLE. Scam if anything. Bank of America and zero option for communication or contextual appeal. Nothing. Rediculous excuse for a company and obviously rely on scaring people with fines. Not even an email listed. I can’t afford the fines being thrown at me that I wasn’t even made aware of. Scam company picking on people who aren’t from down south. Disgusting

This company are a set of cowboys. I went on a fishing holiday to southern Ireland. I drove there and on the way to my accommodation after leaving the ferry and on the way back to the ferry I drove through a Toll area.
A couple of days later I got a 'Standard Toll Request' for £7.08 for the first occasion and then nine days later I received another 'request', this time for £7.10 for the return journey.
The class of vehicle stipulated on the form that they stated appertained to me was and I quote' Motor Cars and public service vehicles with seating for up to 8 passengers' unquote.
My car has seating for up to 5 passengers, not 8.
I tried ringing this firm twice and spoke to two males who appeared not to have a clue. I was eventually told by a 'supervisor' that this was a glitch in the system and happens . He told me to write in, giving me the address to send my 'appeal' to. I did this and waited.
I did get a letter from EPC Customer Services who acknowledged my letter and reassured me that my case would be placed on hold and that no further communication was required from me. The y stated they would respond within 28days but could be longer. I have heard nothing.
Meanwhile, I got another unpaid notice 18 days after the last one, this time for £52.47 even though my case was 'on hold'!
Again I got in touch with someone who again didn't have a clue, who stated I had to write in again with my concerns. On all occasions that I rang I asked to speak to a supervisor of someone in the 'fines' dept. I was told on each occasion that they could not do that.
Anyway, I sent an email this time and got a reply more or less along the lines of their letter....put on hold blah blah blah.
Guess what? Today 2/12/25 I got a 'toll Violation Notice .DO NOT IGNORE' notice, this time for £166.90 even though, according to them, my case is on hold.
God knows what numpty I will be speaking to tomorrow about this last joke. I will be getting in touch with the newspapers about this firm also my solicitor re harassment. They are a set of COWBOYS.
I can only report on my experience. I messed up on ULEZ and Dart Crossing, spoke to TFL and was referred to EPC, who were super helpful, reasonable and got things sorted efficiently. I had contact with a real person who was understanding and constructive with advice. It's easy to complain, but it's also good to say when things go well and people are helpful.
I paid the original fine within 7 days by bank transfer. eFlow accepted my payment and issued a confirmation. However, EPC did not acknowledge it. Instead, they waited two months and then issued a late-payment charge—three times the amount I had already paid.
I gathered all evidence of payment, including timestamps and eFlow’s confirmation, and submitted it to EPC. They refused to accept it, claiming I had not sent anything. I then sent the full email correspondence, payment details, and also supporting documents by post.
Now, months later, EPC claim a new case 23050100574278 has been opened for outstanding payment (which i have paid) and is demanding £50. I have tried phoning repeatedly, but calls are continuously dropped or unanswered.
Eflow accepted my money and confirmed it- but EPC didn't. There is no Ombudsman over them as they are an international company, although based in London in the UK. They are regarded overseas, so they can do anything they want.
Who's to say if I pay this 'alleged outstanding bill', they won't accept it and hit me with another one? Someone somewhere is getting very rich
This behaviour is unacceptable and appears to be a serious procedural failure, potentially indicative of a predatory practice.
I request immediate investigation and resolution. My payment was made on time, accepted by eFlow, and fully evidenced. EPC must close this matter without further charges.
Kind Regards,
Paula Rose Parsh Foley

They send 2 threatening letters with different reference numbers covering the same toll fee. I cannot contact them by email to clarify this so I have no audit trail. Very Bad

All their reviews are one star. Appear to be a set of chancers using scare tactics in the hope you will pay your money into their account , Bank of America NA in Bromley, Kent. and not to the issuing authority, in my case in Hungary. The amounts asked for was in sterling and in my case the fine was issued in Hungary.

After arriving in England by boat from the continent in June 2024, we accidentally took the wrong turn and entered Tyne tunnel southbound, turned around and only 3 minutes later entered again northbound on our way to Scottland. We didn´t even realize there was a toll fee.
in October 2025, roughly one and a half years later, we received two bills amounting to well over 200 € - a little less if we payed in time, which we did!!
Now, one month later, we received another two bills saying we hadn´t payed, which is simply not true.
Considering all these complaints, it seems, this is either simply a "moneymaking system" or - in the best case - a disorderly booking system. Absolutely annoying!
Went into holiday. Once entered Hungary tried to pay the toll 4 times. First 3 times my card got rejected. The 4 th card worked. Paid for 1 month. Came back after 2 months penalty because I haven't paid. Sent them the proof. Appeal rejected. I have paid 1 hour and 40 minutes later that I should. This is a joke of a company. I've used those roads 2 ce and paid for 1 month and now they want me to lai a fine :)))))). See you in the courts!

Sent proof of payment for a journey through toll and 2months later same letter but £50 charge. Resent proof of payment but customer services said can’t use as used on previous charge number. Same road, journey and proof of payment as you only pay once unlike there charges being issued on different cameras. No way to contact once block letter in system and telephone is a no no. Inept and fraudulent disgrace of a company. Paid fine as no way to contact and would increase at will , con artists

I don’t know if this is fraud or not. I have received a penalty letter from the Hungary after two months. I have travelled they telling me you have both vintage wrong category witches they ask me to give them the number plate which is I have provided so how it could be a wrong category that’s their job to confirm which category my car is how will I know it

Disgrace of a company, using underhand tactics and different PCN numbers to try and deceive the customer into thinking they haven't paid the toll when they have. Disgusting. Does the government even give a dam that companies like this exist?

I purchased a Hungarian e-vignette through the official app, carefully entering my vehicle details, dates, and completing payment.
Two months passed before I received a penalty notice. Only then, checking my email confirmation, did I notice the country code was wrong - despite being absolutely sure I entered it correctly.
Drivers who pay for valid vignettes shouldn't be fined due to potential app glitches or unclear input validation. Yet here I am, forced to navigate a lengthy dispute process...

Travelled 18th and 19th June 2025. Had no account to pay for the Dartford Tunnel crossing so I phone Dart Charge call center. They took my Visa card details and I agreed they could book the amount for the crossings (total 5 pounds). In October I receive a pentaly notice for both crossings (37.50 pounds each). I phoned Dart Charge several times. They found the payment they had booked it incorrectly. I still had to contact several times. Sent a Objection letter to EPC plc also stating my Visa payment. The whole experience, on-line, poor quality call center, and difficulty finding out if the penalty noticies have been cancelled was /is very stressfull. In all a poor system: The service provider has pushed the collection of monies to a private company and there seems to be little or no communication between them. If you can keep away from the Dartford Tunnel and EPC plc.
I got a letter from Spain with a fine from the English company because they claim I had not paid the toll during my visit to Hungary but I did and I have a receipt for it. I called them and I barely heard anything from the automatic playback and my English is not that good either! On their website it says you can ask someone in your own language but I couldn't get through! The person who answered asked me what the problem was so I told them as much as I could and asked for someone who speaks Swedish or Hungarian but he just said 14 days 14 days and hung up. This is a real mafia conspiracy Warning to everyone! Don't go to Hungary by car It's worse it was under communism in the 80s The EU is terrorizing us from England from a non-EU country that sends letters from Spain and claims something that is not true!! My mistake was that I downloaded an app and paid through it and I know that I filled in the correct information regarding the country where the car is registered and yet it turned out that the app overwrote it to Hungarian registration numbers. That's how they do it! Be careful! Only go there if you have to but be careful and as I said it's worse than in the 80s in both Hungary and communist England. Now I have to pay again, thanks for that but never again Hungary!
Absolutely horrendous company to deal with. I received a fine in May, which I paid within 3 days. Yet despite this, they continue to send me ever increasing fines. I have emailed them proof of payment and called them several times. They promise to have a supervisor call me back, but they never do. Last time I requested to speak to a supervisor and the operator flat out refused to transfer me. Still waiting on a call back, months later. If I could give them less than zero I would.
