MORGAN STANLEY STOLE MY MONEY
They froze my account due to their **** allegation of unusual activity. They have made it impossible to transfer my funds to another brokerage so they have effectively stolen my money. I have now hired an attorney to deal with this. Do not ever give this ripoff company your money or you might not be able to get it back.
E*TRADE Severely Failed My Trading Needs
Took 3–4 weeks just to open the account. Option level approval delayed. Margin setup failed. Switching back to cash? They removed my trading access for no reason. Months lost. Missed trades. Lost income. Worst experience ever. Avoid E*TRADE if you’re serious about trading.. platform and team no good. Bunch of old school guys..
systemically incompetent
systemically incompetent. Do not know what a 3rd party check is, and will not deposit an insurance claim check based upon their misunderstanding of the definition of a 3rd party check
Bad company!! Bad company!!
Bad company!!! My savings would have been gone if not for the expert team shown in my bio photo they helped me in regaining everything
Worst experience ever with a broker
Worst experience ever with a broker. I transferred funds to e-trade and they restricted access to them. Funds are still locked to this day and the money may as well have been stolen. I can't transfer it out, I can't invest it.... nothing.
Do not listen to their brokers
I recently inherited several accounts after my mother's death last year, one of which was a Roth IRA at E*Trade.
I am primarily writing this review to advise people to NOT listen to the brokers at E*Trade. My mother had several shares of Palantir at the time I inherited her account which she had hedged with a covered call. At the time I inherited the account in June 2024, I was advised not to close out this covered call position even though I had the cash to do so because many people believed Palantir was going to crash or be a worthless stock in a few months.
Well, of course these people were wrong, and the call was deep ITM when I finally realized the mistake this year. However, as the call position was in a beneficiary Roth IRA, I could not transfer any money into the account, and I had already dealt with a significant fiasco even getting the shares to begin with as their beneficiary department is a nightmare. So, there was nothing I could do at this point.
The only silver lining here is that, while I did lose out on around $30k in gains, it wasn't my entire portfolio and I've made significantly more not just on my own Palantir shares which I purchased with my inheritance, but other investments as well that I've made since my mom's death.
However, I am still angry that I was given such short sighted advice - the brokers I spoke with when I was dealing with this position were insistent that I would lose money on Palantir, it's not going to be worth anything, even though this is a DEFENSE stock that works with the military and is deeply embedded in the AI infra-state. Honestly the same people who are still moaning about this stock and whining that it is overvalued and that you shouldn't touch it.
I am just glad I did not lose out on $100k or $1 million in stock value and that I continued to invest in this stock despite all the noise from people still stuck on investing in JNJ and ETFs. It is still a costly mistake and when I was on the phone with E*Trade to go over my options on how to deal with this, they realized it, too. Bad advice - this is why I do not listen to people when it comes to investments or just do the opposite of what people tell you.
Lesson learned.
I regret to have opened an E*TRADE Roth…
I regret to have opened an E*TRADE Roth IRA. Since the end of March 2025 I have been trying to have the funds there sent to a different custodian. E*TRADE sent some of it but then charged me twice for ACAT fee, $75 each time, for a total of $150.
They refuse to refund the $75 they overcharged. I have called them numerous times in this matter. Each agent was doing their best but the check for the $75 has still not been issued. The $75 is still sitting in my account. I do not know how to retrieve it or what else to do. This is extremely odd what they are doing. It has now been almost 3 months as I have been trying to get my money out.
Unbelievable
Stock cost say 5$, they charge 38$ ! (For company name change or similar)
Call center talk to talk .. they said they paid 38$ on my behalf to the stock company while it is actually Etrade fees .. not reasonable..
and now looking into my account seeing negative quantities (not $, I didn't sell more than i have) ,
Cannot wait to close my account with them , they can take your money without reasonable reason
- The WORST ever brokerage company.
If I could post ZERO or less than ZERO stars I would.
- The WORST ever brokerage company.
The WORST ever brokerage company.
- - I've tried for months to access my account. I'm changing my log-in information td include my phone number and password.
- I'm on the phone with their representative, he's "Helping" me... and after the call, I'm still unable to access my account.
I've been working to unlock my account…
I've been working to unlock my account over the last 6 months. I was told several times that I would be called back and it would take less than a week. But nothing has been done after 5 phone calls
With full confirmation
With full confirmation, I am certain that they have ruined the funds of many people. There is nothing that will stop me with PAIVA. What they render to customers is incomparable. Their pay is more attractive.
This is a terrible scam!! This is a terrible scam!!
This is a terrible scam! The company team displayed on my profile name / profile photo provided excellent service in processing my refund
Terrible applications
Terrible applications. Tons of errors. Customer service is terrible. You get conflicting or contradictory messages from series of different reps. No follow through.
They charge $38 service fees for stock…
They charge $38 service fees for stock reverse splits. All other brokers I use do not. In addition, they do not offer trading after pre market or aftermarket hours without having to call in. Cumbersome, horrible platform. If you want to loose money, trade with them otherwise find a different broker. I have been far more successful on Webull, Moomoo
Very bad banking practices that treats people with demeaning acts!
Morgan Stanley Etrade bank cannot be trusted with your money! They are withholding my money that does not belong to them! I am the rightful owner of the money and it is my understanding that it is unlawful to withhold anyone's money for no reason whatsoever. I deposited a cashiers check that I was heir to resulting from my father's passing. They closed my accounts I had with them saying there was suspicious activity and I called them daily to verify the transactions were me. They have been giving me the runaround for a couple of months telling me I needed to provide a statement from the bank that issued the check and I explained to them multiple times that it would be impossible for me to provide a statement because I do not bank with them that it was issued to me as a heir to the settlement and I had never heard of the bank on the issued check, how would I know? I told them to contact the bank on the check to verify it was in fact issued to me and that they can verify as well that I do not bank with them. They told me they don't do that (the guy said Morgan Stanley does not make calls to verify anything). I uploaded all documents they requested from me everything I actually could provide and beyond as proof of who I am and papers from the attorney who mailed me the check. They continued to give me the runaround and now they will not give me my money which belongs to me and every time I call them which has been an awful lot. They treat me badly and talk to me like I am a criminal when I have done nothing! I have a family emergency I need the money for and they are giving me no possible way to get my own money out of their bank. They keep saying they mailed letters and I have received nothing!! They are not reasonable at all and have created a very bad situation for me. I have told them my father would not have wanted this! Them not giving me the money he died for!!!
I had to pay for their mistake. But with work got my money back.
Update, 5/31/25 soon after I posted this review and told trustpilot to notify E-Trade about my review. I got my $40 back into my account. No apology, No email, no phone call. The money just appeared in my account. It very well could have been because of this review.
Original review, I asked for a withdrawal of cash in my brokerage account. The only way they would do it is through a wire service. I made it a point to tell the person the exact name on my checking account to avoid any problem. But when they sent it they put all kinds of abbreviations in front of my name and it was returned for incorrect name minus $40 for the trouble. So not only was there a delay in receiving the money their mistake cost me $40. I told them I shouldn't have to pay for your mistake. On the third phone call a supervisor argued they used the name I gave them. I said no go back and listen to the recording of the phone call. He said okay I will. I never heard anything back. It's bad enough to make a stupid mistake and then to not make good on it shows their integrity is in the toilet.
Danger Danger Warning Warning
When Using Margin when the stock went up by .62 per share More than 10,000 shares on its way up a $1.50 THE SOLD OFF THE STOCK. I have never lost any money on my accounts. Only when I used their margin and concentrated the position. They do not like that. They have caused tens of thousands in losses as they will sell of your stock very quickly when there is zero risk to them. In asking co-pilot it seems they make money when the slip the rug out from underneath you in a variety of ways. Further a real good portion of THEIR REPRESANTATIVES DO NOT HAVE ONE ONCE OF A CLUE AS TO WHAT THEY ARE DOING
They need a class action lawsuit with thousands and thousands of people they have screwed in so many ways so that they could possibly be put out of business for a combination of unfair trade practices and fraud. It's a shame this trust pilot will not allow you to put up contact information here so that people could gang together and get these corrupt pitiful companies. And PS. The government Lets them do all this stuff and some of it totally legally.
Sad little bank
Opened an account in December when I moved to ME. As my disabled immobile mother’s caregiver and POA she was having issues with her debit card so sent me a wire to pay her storage unit in Florida. The wire wasn’t disputed but almost immediately locked my account down . E*trade of course,
Wanted me to upload my ID and Social Security card. I did that every month for four months and when I would call back, the documents were expired and I had to re-upload. My mother is an early onset dementia so she can remember her Social Security number on good days, but Adrian wanted me to get my mother on the phone at the hospital on a three-way call with the bank to let them know that the wire was authorized. It was a $200 wire. After begging them and begging them to just unlock my. Account and just let me withdraw the last $25. They are now asking me for medical documents on my mother. They want a dementia diagnosis they want power of attorney’s over $25 and a wire that was never disputed so I’m just letting everybody know before you open an account with this bank, Other than one person has spoken with the customer service is terrible, the employees are rude, one even accuse me of trying to defraud them. I know that money is tight for everybody right now for that reason I would not suggest putting it in this institution because I just had to eat $25 because I wouldn’t make my sick mother get a three-way call with them

Useless company for a slightly unusual account setup.
I tried to establish an account. I am not the easiest client, being a USA citizen living in Germany. I completely identified myself in the USA and in Germany. I was denied. When I called and asked why, the assistant would only tell me, "You have been denied, you have no recourse." They were very unfriendly and showed no empathy nor understanding for my situation. I spent over 15 Euros on a useless call with a non-supportive representative (I have omitted customer-SERVICE here, since there was none). After this, I found another broker, who, with the same info, accepted me.
So, firstly, they were unfriendly.
Secondly, they were unhelpful.
Thirdly, they failed to get my business, when a competitor got me in a short time.
So, for me, forget Etrade.
