A Shocking Failure of Professionalism, Care and Accountability
My experience with Evans Halshaw Ford Blackpool was appalling, not simply because my nearly new Ford Transit Custom remained with them for approximately ten weeks, but because of the extraordinarily unprofessional way the entire matter was managed.
The vehicle arrived following a major breakdown. What followed was weeks of uncertainty, poor communication and repeated chasing simply to establish what was happening. There was no clear repair plan, no meaningful timescale and very little proactive contact. I was repeatedly left feeling that obtaining basic information about my own vehicle was somehow an unreasonable demand.
The attitude encountered was equally concerning. Explanations included that they were busy, that the relevant technician was away and that other vehicles were being prioritised. Most astonishingly, when I challenged the lack of progress, I was spoken to in words to the effect of: “What are you moaning about? You have a courtesy van.”
That statement encapsulated the disregard shown towards the impact on a small business whose primary working vehicle was unavailable for around ten weeks while finance payments continued.
I had specifically raised the fact that the van contained thousands of pounds’ worth of tools and asked that it be kept secure. Despite this, I subsequently found it parked outside in the front area, backed towards a hedge. My concerns appeared to have been given remarkably little weight.
The vehicle was extensively dismantled during diagnosis. After approximately ten weeks, rather than receiving a proper technical explanation, detailed account of the work undertaken or meaningful acknowledgement of what we had endured, I simply received notification that the van was ready for collection.
What I found on collection was unacceptable.
The vehicle had sustained dents and scuffing to the rear that had not been present when it entered their custody. The interior and panels were dirty and marked, and the van was returned without the standard of presentation or care I would expect after being entrusted to a professional dealership for such an extended period.
Most importantly, after all of that time, disruption and intervention, the underlying problems were not satisfactorily resolved. Significant faults subsequently continued.
This is what makes the experience so disturbing. It was not one unfortunate mistake. It was the cumulative combination of prolonged delay, inadequate communication, dismissive treatment, disregard for legitimate security concerns, disruption to our livelihood, damage while the vehicle was in professional custody, poor condition on return, lack of meaningful explanation and ultimately an unsuccessful repair outcome.
At no stage did I feel that anyone truly took ownership of what was happening or recognised the seriousness of the situation.
A courtesy vehicle does not excuse ten weeks of poor communication. Being busy does not justify treating a customer dismissively. And holding somebody’s nearly new vehicle for months creates a fundamental responsibility to protect it, communicate honestly about it and return it in at least the condition in which it was received.
Behind this van was a small business, employees, customers and a livelihood. None of that appeared to matter.
Customer care is tested when something goes wrong. That is when professionalism, empathy and integrity should become most visible.
My experience with Evans Halshaw Ford Blackpool was precisely the opposite, and I consider the way this matter was handled profoundly below the standard any customer should reasonably expect from a major Ford repairer.

We have recently purchased a car from the Blackpool branch. We found the service excellent. Paul who arranged the purchase explained everything and nothing was any trouble. Would recommend using them if looking for a car

We recently purchased a MG 3 from this dealership. The car had been transfered from Grimsby. When we got it home we noticed some poor body work repair. We dealt with Antony, Otis and Mark. They quickly reviewed the body work and got it repaired to a high standard. There was no quibbling they just said yes not right and sorted.
Many Thanks

Excellent service from the team at Blackpool today, took my Audi for a suspected oil leak from oil filter or sump plug. Oil filter had a pin hole in it, new one fitted, all good ( free of charge, guaranteed job from service performed in September) a special mention to Katie on service desk, who was polite and very smiley. Complimentary car wash as well 😊👍

Took the car in for a routine service which was done within a morning and when I collected it, the car looked like new from being valeted. Great service as usual.

Bought a 2015 reg Peugeot 308 in August 2024. Sales people were great at the time and very friendly. We were sold a premium guarantee with the car which we were told would cover most things that could go wrong with the car within the first couple of years after buying. We also bought a service plan.
A year later, a couple of months after the first service where everything was given the green light, an engine light comes on so we booked it in at Evans Halshaw in November 2025 thinking this was where the premium guarantee will come in handy. We didn't get the car back until February 2026, and were only given a courtesy car for the last 3 weeks of that time even though we don't have use of any other cars. At one point in January, we were told the work was complete. My partner went to pick up the car and the same warning light came on while he was in the parking lot.
Our car was stuck in a queue for over a month for the insurance company to get back to Evans Halshaw about whether the work was covered under the guarantee or not. Evans Halshaw told us we needed almost £3000 worth of work on the car. The premium guarantee only covered £900 of the work, and we are having to pay £1700. For a DPF filter warning light.

I would have liked to see the oil analysis report that was supposedly taken. The oil stated on the invoice is Castrol magnetec 0W30D. The D normally symbolises suitability for a diesel when my car is petrol (ford mustang GT). Would also have liked to see the air filter removed to see if there was any general dirt/debri/contaminants for me to keep an eye on.
The car was not washed after the service and was completely covered in bird poo that was not there whrn dropped off so I also had to wash the car whrn I returned home. All in all, for £490 it seemed a lot of money for what was actually done to the car. Was only in the workshop approx 2 hours according to the tracker

Good quality customer service, a great customer experience. They kept me informed of the progress of the MOT via an e-mail link sent to my phone. The MOT was price competative and they did not try to sell me any other products. Very polite and professional. Would highly recommend this service and I will use this garage again. Thank you to all the staff involved at Evans Halshaw Ford Blackpool.
