Would have chosen zero stars if there was an option too. Had nothing but hassle with the company and manager Iain for the past year. Dropped my car off to have brake pads replaced last august which should have been a day job. 5 days later I was contacted to be told an employee had driven my car and crashed it causing significant damage. When I went to the dealership to find out what had been going on I was surprised to not find my car on site and none of the staff seemed to take accountability and played daft that they had no idea what was going on. After back and forth with some emails with Iain he had claimed that I had given said employee permission to drive my vehicle and off the site. Bear in mind this employee has no business driving any of the cars on site as she is not a mechanic and this is not her job. Then Conveniently I received an email saying my car was actually sitting on the road outside the dealership and had supposedly been there the full time, this was on a Friday evening. They then refused to take my car back inside the safety of evanshalshaw premises where it was left till Monday morning. Iain then refused to say the damage happened on there grounds until I requested CCTV was checked, where he then after a long debate confirmed it had been done by an employee while on the premises. No apology given and then a 4/5 month wait began for repairs to be done and constant request for updates and was promised all original bmw new parts would be fitted. I received an accidental email saying my car was ready for collection, when going to collect my car I had found it had been vandalised even further. Staff had written the employees name who crashed the car in the dust of the bonnet. Insinuating that this full ordeal was some sort of joke to them. I was told that this email was a mistake and again no apology given. When eventually my car was ready for collection they had informed me that most of the sensors where still on as they didn’t know how to fix this. I took it to BMW to be fixed there where they sent me a video explaining how poorly the repair job had been done and half of the fuses where not even connected, paint did not match and the bumper was still significantly damaged. After contacting Iain again he agreed to fully replace the bumper which then started another long wait while they waited on the bumper being delivered from BMW it’s is now end of January and all emails are being ignored from Iain and complaints to evanhalshaw themselves have been left unanswered. Please Do not use this company.

Evans Halshaw, Coatbridge. Winter weather is upon us, dirt being kicked up from large vehicles causing poor visibility. My car which is still under warranty and I pay for regular service has no screen wash facility. I called to book this in to get fixed as I am sure it is a legal requirement to have good usability when driving, it is checked on MOT so has to be working.
No time available to fix it until after Christmas !
This week is the deadline for repairs until then.
So hey just drive around in a car you can’t see out the windscreen of. Don’t misunderstand me, I can take it and pay for it at another garage, but that is not the point.
Evans Halshaw - wonderful - as long as you have got a sale, they don’t care about the customer or their safety. My husband and I have had many new cars from this franchise, never again !!

I’ve had an incredibly frustrating experience with this garage. My car has now been with them for over six weeks, and throughout this entire time I’ve had no courtesy car offered, which has caused a lot of inconvenience as I am currently going through treatment for cancer.
Communication has been practically nonexistent. On the rare occasions they have called, it’s only been to ask me to pay for additional parts—without proper explanation or updates on what’s actually happening with my vehicle.
I’ve submitted two complaints online, both of which clearly state I would receive a response and an action plan within 48 hours. It has now been nearly three weeks, and I’ve still heard absolutely nothing back.
When I raise this with the garage, they just say complaints go to head office, we don’t deal with them here. They say they have no escalation route to address the complaint. Nothing to do with them.
Overall, this has been a completely unprofessional and disappointing experience. I would strongly advise others to think twice before using this garage based on what I’ve gone through.
12/12/25 - Since Evans Halshaw responded to my review, still no one has been in touch. I contacted Ford as this is a Ford dealership. Ford have assured me they will carry out a full investigation into this franchise following my experience.

I am so pleased with the purchase of the 67 plate Nissan Micra. Aidan was helpful throughout the process and I really appreciate the help especially with it being my first car. All is in good working order. Aidans customer service 10/10!

Answer the phone, called this place 17 times today and 22 times yesterday for the service department who are already a week late in contacting me. I’m sure if I called the extension for the sales department the would answer quickly.

Don’t expect to see your car reservation fee of £99 back if you decide not to buy the car! I had reserved a car on the 25th October and I am still awaiting my refund! Email’s of you will receive within 3-5 days never come true! I have even submitted a complaint to head office…no reply and also the dealership, salesman Callum Adair replied when he feels like it. Awful customer service and I am glad I didn’t purchase a car with them as obviously they can’t deal with any customers service correctly! The car I had reserved has now also been sold and I am still out of pocket!!

I recently sold my car to Evans, and the experience was nothing like what their website promised. I completed their detailed online valuation beforehand, which came out competitive with other dealers. Their site clearly states that if the information you provide is accurate, you should receive the stated valuation. This is totally inaccurate.
Be warned: they use a completely different valuation tool when in the dealer, and the figure they offered was nowhere near the online estimate £800 out!! They claim there are no fees, but they add a charge for putting the car through their workshop—call it whatever they like, it’s still a fee.
I travelled almost 200 miles based on their valuation, so the whole situation was extremely disappointing. I raised a complaint through Revolver and ADR process ongoing, so far they have refused any compensation. The business manager hasn’t even bothered to contact me, despite the reply below stating they would. Trading Standards have agreed the wording on their website is concerning, and I’ve also reported them to the Advertising Standards Authority for misleading information. Hopefully this will be addressed.
They are not part of the Motor Ombudsman, so there’s no independent recourse either.
10/12/25: updated a bit above and will do so on conclusion of my issue.
11/01/26: Update, So the Alternative Resolution process is a waste of time. The "so sorry" reply below is just waffle as they have no real interest in resolving customer disputes knowing it's not correct. Trading Standards are now going to address the issue with the company.

Car recalled for airbags. Free Health check given whilst it was in. Was told the brakes needed work and would be £137 to complete the work. The car had passed it’s MOT 2 weeks prior and had not so much as an advisory for the brakes so declined the work. Signed a waiver to say I didn’t want the work done. Drove car away, got to a red light and when I put my foot on the brake the pedal hit the floor and I had no brakes at all. Phoned up and was told it was my own fault, I didn’t agree to the work. The car had fully functional brakes when it was handed into Evans Halshaw for an airbag recall… but had zero brakes when I got it back. Said I had to drive it back in 2 days for the work to be done or pay to have it towed. Then I couldn’t get through to Evans Halshaw for almost 2 days awaiting an update. Went back to the garage to finally collect the car after works were completed, charged £20 more for the work than was quoted. Complained and was told it was my own fault as I’d signed waiver. Absolute disgrace, sent me out in a death trap, no indication that they had disconnected the brakes. No communication, incorrect quote for work that the car didn’t require before it had gone in there.

Where do I start?
I bought the car 31st January. Everything was fine in the 1st 4 months. Until the car suffered a gearbox malfunction (mechatronic fault). I approached Evans Halshaw to help. They told me I was over my 3 months warranty, therefore no help. I took the car to an independent garage for diagnostics check. They found faults with the Mechatronic, timing belt, shock absorbers and brake pads. Costs for repair amounting between £6000 - £7500. At this point I researched my consumer rights and through my finance company, re-approached Evans Halshaw reminding them of their obligation to investigate and allow their 1 opportunity to repair within 6 months of purchasing the car. Through my finance company, they again refused to comply again stating their 3 months warranty warranty. This carried on for another 8 weeks of non responses. It was only when it approached the deadline of which I could contact the financial ombudsman, that they relented and took the car in for investigation and repair. The grief and inconvenience we went through in that 8 week period without our car was insurmountable. Kids missing activities, missed/ late hospital appointments and extra money paid out for taxis and buses.
When the car was collected by Evans Halshaw, they gave us a courtesy car. After 6 weeks, the finally declared the car was fixed and ready to be collected on Friday 24th October. My wife arrived to collect it, only to find out, it has not had an MOT, which was previously promised to us prior to collection. They carried out the MOT with my wife waiting inside the showroom. 1 hour later, they said it was ready and a breakdown of the repairs will be emailed to myself. No breakdown email was ever sent. My wife then drove out the showroom and when travelling back home on the M8 motorway…. The gearbox malfunctioned again. By this point, I had enough! All the grief, the fighting my case, paying out extra, the inconvenience, and now this again? No, I decided to reject the car and have the recovery truck take it back to Evans Halshaw. I will never ever deal with the coatbridge branch ever again. The branch left such a bitter resentment of ever using any other branch of Evans Halshaw in the future. It’s shameful how after sales treat their customers. Can only hope for systematic change.
