This gym suits my needs as I don't use…

This gym suits my needs as I don't use all the gym equipment due to knee replacements Sometimes equipment is broken due to constant use but it is usually mended within a short time I find the staff friendly They froze my membership when I was recovering from my ops and when I lost my card issued me immediately with another one My main focus is on swimming I preferred it when they had a hot tub but find the steam room good as a way to relax after training They have improved since the poor reviews I read and only charge £30.00 per month which I consider good value compared to other gyms! The facilities are kept clean which is also a bonus!

Absolutely awful

Absolutely awful - Hengrove Bristol

This gym emailed me when DW closed as it was rebranding the space into Everlast, being an historic member and newly off mat leave I rejoined, only to find everlast have no link to DW and lots of the equipment was missing. How Everlast was able to email me with GDPR rules in place is questionable If they are not affiliated with DW.

Once I realised a lot of equipment I needed and had been trained to use was gone I came out and spoke to reception, never at any point was I advised I was in a cooling off period and could have cancelled, the manager told me this when I complained to her weeks later about the lack of equipment and pool opening. I joined at the desk this time so I didn’t actually see any documents. This left me furious as it was day 2 when I spoke to reception who knew my routine equipment was gone and I was stuck.

The gym has point black refused to allow me out of the contract despite not having equipment and the pool being closed over the summer holidays for months ( the only thing I could use) they did say I could freeze my membership whilst it was closed but they hid this fact from members and when I perused it they argued and argued against having to do it despite me showing emails from a manager promising it could be done. I find the management staff really unhelpful and all they seem to want to do is retain unhappy customers for what benefit?!

The hot tub area - one has been boarded over permanently where they’ve not bothered to fix it.

Changing rooms - showers often broken or scalding and “do not use” tape is on hair dryers where they have broken meaning it looks shabby and tired.

I’ve had my membership 10 months now and I’ve had no use out of it. They offered me a session to look at using other equipment and I agreed requesting this would be a woman trainer - they don’t have one which is bizarre, some women feel more comfortable with women.

I’ve asked to go through to head office so many times I’ve lost count, they avoid that like the plague, just interested in fobbing me off to retain their £30 per month.

All in all a worn out tired gym with a lot of missing equipment, totally nothing like the old DW at the same location.

I’d love to show higher management some of the argumentative emails I’ve received it’s actually really bad for such a large company.

They never provided me with T&Cs and the site intentionally misleads you in terms of the cooling off period and cancellation options.

They are now trying to prevent me from cancelling the contract even though I have never been shown the terms and conditions! total pirates. avoid.

Manager tried to bully me into keeping the contract. horrific behaviour.
