Great classes. Facilities need investment.

This review is for the Poole Everlast Gym at Redlands.
I agree with the majority of the reviews here. This gym needs financial investment & a scheduled, frequent deep clean, particularly in the shower areas. Last week a wriggling worm appeared from a crack at the base of the shower wall while I was showering! Lifting & cleaning out the floor grates needs to happen regularly. The corroded metal handrail in the ladies shower needs replacing, along with several of the corroded showers that require you to keep your hand pressed firmly on the mechanism in order to work. Many of the tiny tiles in the pool floor are missing so it’s easy to get your toes caught during fitness classes.
However, as a community gym the desk staff are generally friendly & the fitness class instructors for the classes I enjoy are A1, which makes my membership worthwhile.

The sauna at Everlast Gym in Poole has…

The sauna at Everlast Gym in Poole has not been working for two weeks now(19/01/2026) and this is not the first time. Last year(2024/2025), during the busiest winter period, the sauna was out of order for months. It feels like the sauna is turned on and off periodically for some reason, but members are never given clear information.

Every time we ask, staff simply repeat that they “don’t know when it will be fixed.” After weeks and even months, this excuse is not acceptable. It looks like no real effort is being made to repair it as soon as possible.

The sauna is a very important part of the gym experience, especially in winter. Many members pay specifically for this facility. Despite not being able to use the sauna for long periods, there are no discounts, compensation, or alternatives offered to customers.

Since the gym does not lose money when the sauna is broken, there seems to be no urgency to fix it. This is disappointing and shows a lack of respect for paying members.

I've been a memeber for about 15 years

I've been a memeber for about 15 years, it's changed it's name in that time and I don;t think any ataff are still there. The main draw for me is that it's right by my house so easy to fit into my routine. I'm flexible enough to go when most people are it work so it's always pretty quiet. It's got everything I need, kettlebells, yoga mats, treadmill, free weights. The staff are nice enough. Machines do break, but there are always plenty for me to use, and I have seen things get repaired and upgraded. It does take time. They maintain the steam room better now (it was out for months and months a couple years ago, now it's reliable). It's not a luxury gym but then it's about £1 a day for a membership. I go every day, sometimes I swim sometimes I hit the gym. I get a lot of value from it and I'm sure it's the reason why I'm as healthy as I am. For me, it's really good.

Avoid this gym

Avoid this gym. It’s poor value for money compared to better-equipped local options like PureGym, The Gym Group, and JD Gyms. The equipment is outdated and unsafe—rusty and unstable benches, weightlifting platforms worn through to the floor beneath, damaged bumper plates, and flooring with large bumps in it requiring hazard tape. Stairmasters don’t move smoothly, and overall, the gym looks fine but is in VERY poor condition.
Staff mention a possible refurbishment, but no timeline is guaranteed. The higher membership cost may be due to the pool, which is frequently closed. If you join in person, the 14-day cooling-off period doesn’t apply, and staff won’t inform you. Even though the T&Cs allow for manager discretion, they won’t release you from the contract despite ongoing issues.

Rundown and dirty. Very Poor

Rundown and dirty. Desperately in need of refurbishment. TVs all not working. Many showers not working and unhygienic. Only work when you press a button on a 15 second timer. Jacuzzis have been removed. Too crowded. Cancelled my membership and told I need to give a month’s notice) only joined for s month as trial). Obviously into maximising profits without investment.

Poole gym

Poole gym - ladies changing room and toilets desperately need a refurb, toilets frequently not working properly. Gym equipment is mediocre. Jacuzzi is out of action. The whole club is very tired and under-invested in. Only reason why I have continued with my membership is because it is within easy walking distance of my home for now.

Everlast Gym

Everlast Gym: A Shocking Disgrace to the Fitness Industry

Where do I even begin with Everlast Gym in Branksome and Pool? It’s difficult to imagine a worse experience for your workout, and honestly, I'm convinced that this place only manages to stay open because of the unsuspecting new members who haven't yet experienced the grim reality lurking behind those double doors.

Broken Equipment Galore
First and foremost, let's talk about the machines. They don’t just "sometimes" malfunction; it seems like they're perpetually broken or on the verge of collapse. Treadmills? Good luck finding one that doesn’t stop randomly or squeak so loudly that you can’t hear your own music. Weight machines? Expect frayed cables and uneven resistance, which makes me question whether it’s just lazy maintenance or a deliberate attempt to drive members away. You’d think a gym would prioritize functioning equipment, but apparently not here.

A Hygiene Disaster
And cleanliness? Forget about it. The whole gym is a haven for bacteria. The floors are caked with dirt, sweat stains are left to dry and crust on the mats, and the equipment is so sticky you’d think they were using glue instead of cleaning products—if they ever bothered to clean at all! I was so fed up with the disgusting steam room that I decided to test how filthy it truly was. Spoiler alert: I took Petri dishes home, and the horror show of bacteria I cultivated would give any microbiologist nightmares. The low lighting in the steam room isn't atmospheric; it's a desperate attempt to hide the grime, mildew, and filth that would send anyone running for the nearest hazmat suit if it were properly lit.

Changing Rooms of Horror
The change rooms are no better. The tiles are a mosaic of bacteria, dirt, and god-knows-what, flourishing between every crack and crevice. It’s shocking to see just how blatant the neglect is. There are dark, wet patches that have clearly been ignored for weeks, if not months. It feels like walking into a swamp—and trust me, you want to wash your hands before leaving the gym.

If you care about your health and sanity, save yourself the trauma and steer clear of Everlast Gym in Branks and Pool. It's a breeding ground for germs, disappointment, and pure frustration.

Terrible app always going wrong no one…

Terrible app always going wrong no one knows at reception how to fix it , unable to book classes . Toilet doors finally got fixed as had no bolts on 2 doors , aircon never works in the gym studio , the list goes on of terrible things like swopping changing rooms and the men’s is so grotty and only 2 cubicle toilets , but on a positive note the classes are great .

Such a shocking and disappointing…

Such a shocking and disappointing experience with this gym. I was a member when it was DW however since being taken over by Everlast nothing has been done to improve facilities. Chunks of walls are missing, mold and mildew around, nothing is ever clean, clumps of hair and dust everywhere. Broken equipment ours totally shocking. I joined on the back of being a DW member and signed up to a 12 month contract - once I saw the facilities I asked to cancel and was denied. Totally appalling.

Looking worn after being well looked after

I have being to everlast for a number of years, when I first started it was well looked after but it just seen worn down and next to no investment. Staff are amazing and friendly, I like that it's different to other gyms seeing a friendly face as you enter and leave the gym.

Wide variety of equipment but again some seems like needs renewed or not quality checked, for wear and tear..

I'm signed until end of 2024 and if this continues I'll probably look to somewhere else. As it's not longer value for money, I don't paying a little more as the service's are good. It seems the parent company is just taking customers for granted..

Tired and outdated. Lovely staff.

Been today and I’ve lost track of how much equipment is broken. Such a shame because all the staff are lovely at this place. Can’t fault the people but whoever is higher up the chain needs to get ontop of this site. Wouldn’t let my dog use the showers, changing room is outdated and ripped benches. Repairing workout machines doesn’t take months, get suppliers in place.

Unhygienic outdated gym

If you want to join a gym with broken equipment, empty jacuzzis, mouldy steam rooms, unsanitary changing rooms with ripped leather benches this gym is for you. Unhelpful staff - trying to cancel my membership currently and just being handed around the membership department with no contact from the manager. Always out when trying to confront at reception. Really is a substandard gym and should be looked into from the chain.

This facility is terrible

This facility is terrible. Staff tell me it has a membership of 5000 people. It costs £30 per month, so has an income of £150,000 per month. Despite this many of the machines are broken long term. Toilets are dirty and don’t flush properly. Swimming pool is closed again. The number of classes are being repeatedly cut. If you raise any issues with staff, even the manager, they deny that there’s a problem or blame “head office decision”. Such a disappointing place.

AVOID DON'T BOTHER

I have finally cancelled my membership after 11 years. Since Everlast took over from D.W. Sports the place has been left to basically dis intricate. Filthy tatty changing rooms, dirty gym with lots of equipment out of order, no Jacuzzi for 2 years, steam room out of action regularly and the final straw pool out of action now for at least the coming month. I may SEEM cheap at £30. p.c.m. but my advice is AVOID until a new owner comes along.

Same worn out kit from years ago

Same kit from years ago, now broken ripped and as for free weights…I struggle to find two of the same weights at 2100hrs. Staff are great but whoever is in charge of this place clearly is complex out of touch with the shocking state of it and how most members are one bad workout away from moving to another gym. It’s falling apart. Don’t join, there are so many other gyms that are better. I’ll be cancelling my membership very soon.

I can’t comment on the gym as I don’t use it.
I use the pool and it’s lovely. Water temperature is good. The changing rooms are fine and staff go around keeping the floor dry.
All staff that I have talked to and ask things have all been fine.

Worst Gym on Earth

One good point. Reception staff, cleaners and PT’s are all extremely pleasant and do their best. The so - called Management are absolutely useless. Due to my work I’ve used Gyms frequently on every Continent on Earth ( except South America and the Polar areas) . NOWHERE I have seen including every major city in the UK matches Everlast Gym Poole for The LOWEST standards. From ripped, broken , abused, equipment to disgusting and filthy changing areas, free weights used to stabilise workout machines, bugs and insects running across the gym floor, filthy lockers, aggressive users ( some who apparently have forced their way in and have not paid- the near non existent so called “ Managers” are manifest in their absence and have ignored complaints about numerous issues ) , lying about the Air Conditioning operation….. the list goes on and on. If you are still with me, consider this. Everlast Gym Poole would be a serious contender for the Wooden spoon most dreadful awful fitness facility on Earth. Take your hard earned cash to a company that deserves it. This place is beyond an absolute disgrace, and should be closed down, then mended from scratch by a decent company that does not indulge in legalised robbery. Just beyond appalling ( and I have never been forced to create such a bad review about any business in my life) Avoid it altogether. Shocking .
