What agent calls their customers liars when the customer has proof that they aren’t lying?

We booked a trip through Expedia for our first family vacation. We had no issues booking the trip. There was an issue with my passport which I needed to sort out. We found this out the day we were supposed to travel though. My wife and daughter were able to get on the plane but I had to book and pay for a different flight. When we were about to travel home from Mexico I was not listed on the itinerary for the flight. I spent 5 hours trying to get through to WestJet who told me I had to deal with Expedia. Expedia said there’s nothing they can do but got me a link to purchase a new flight home. They identified they would put in for a refund on my travel on our behalf once the flight home was completed. When I reached out to them again they told me I never spoke to anyone there before that date and I had to deal with the airline directly for a refund. When I showed them the screenshots of the chat they then told me the agent never said they were initiating a refund with the airport. Even though the screenshot showed that they said they would. They told me their agents don’t send links to new flights, even though the screenshots showed the link being sent to me. We purchased cancellation insurance and they still tried to put everything on us or the airline and to top it off tried to state I was making up having spoken to them before. The entire experience was traumatic for my family. While not every aspect is the result of Expedia not doing their job, the parts that are were enough to make me never want to book with them again. To suggest customers are lying about talking to them when the proof is apparent that they did is inexcusable. Putting all accountability on the customer or the airline when using an agent is also inexcusable. What point is there in using an agent if they don’t honour the agreement at all. I would not recommend Expedia travel to anyone after this and will be speaking to a lawyer if they don’t make this right. Between WestJet and Expedia this was the worst travel experience we’ve ever had.

Misleading and Unacceptable!

I searched for a specific hotel in Whistler, BC, and when I looked it up online, a phone number appeared directly under the hotel’s name. I assumed it was the hotel’s number and called it. When I asked “Who is this?”, I was told it was the hotel, at no point was Expedia mentioned.

Based on that, I booked a room. I was never told I was booking through Expedia, and no out of the ordinary cancellation fees were explained. This booking was made about 10 months in advance, so I reasonably expected flexibility.

A few weeks later, when my plans changed and I went to cancel, I found out that I had actually booked through Expedia, not the hotel, and I was being charged a $550 one-night room fee. I immediately checked my confirmation email, and this fee was not clearly stated or made obvious.

I tried disputing the charge with my bank and would not answer my call, so I still did not get my money back.

This experience was extremely misleading and felt deceptive. Customers should never be led to believe they are speaking directly with a hotel when they are not.

Do NOT use Expedia. Horrible experience, zero transparency, and I would absolutely not recommend them to anyone.

Do NOT book with Expedia

Do NOT book with Expedia. We had a TERRIBLE experience with them when my 2 year old had a medical emergency during our Expedia booked vacation this summer. Their customer service was AWFUL! There was a lot of gross negligence on their part, sending us other people’s information, and contacting them was so painful that I feel I have trauma from the whole experience with them specifically.
Not to mention we spent the entire last 2 days of our trip contacting them. Expedia owes my entire family a vacation.

DO NOT BOOK WITH EXPEDIA!!!!!

The airline cancelled my flight

The airline cancelled my flight, but Expedia refused to refund because the return segment wasn’t cancelled. Terrible experience and zero support when something goes wrong. Book directly with the airline—Expedia is a middleman that doesn’t help when you actually need them.

Expedia takes $ and doesn't provide service

We booked a car rental in Mexico through Expedia, which Expedia took the money from my credit card. Once arrived in Mexico, the car company didn't have a car and said it was up to Expedia to refund us. Expedia refused to refund claiming it's the rental car company, even though Expedia is who took the money. Expedia is refusing to refund the money for a service we didn't get!! Extremely poor customer service. Will NEVER use them again for anything.

I booked a car through expedia

I booked a car through expedia, it showed third party insurance included for one company. When I called sixt rent a car ,they said its not included and I'll need to buy. I chatted with expedia for 2 hours to cancel my booking without penalty. They contacted Sixt rent a car and they refused to give me full refund. Expedia is misleading by false advertisement. They just lost another customer.

Terrible Service

Terrible Service. All they do is promise and not fulfill. I had a problem with a hotel and still waiting for a satisfactory resolution. I will never use this booking company again.

Terrible customer service experience

Terrible customer service experience. We needed to change our hotel by one day, and the agent told us to cancel, and rebook because there would be "no problem." We tried to rebook and the cost doubled. We'll never go through Expedia again.

BUYER BEWARE

Borderline scammy. BUYER BEWARE

We booked a stay in Buffalo, and added the booking cancellation protection for $40 (on a $350 stay). When our medical scans were cancelled, we tried to cancel our booking only to be told is is only for a small set of emergency reasons. Expedia falsely advertised it, and now makes it impossible to contact them and resolve it. Unreal

Booked with them a flight with porter…

Booked with them a flight with porter airlines. They upsold me services like a free checked bag and seat selection. Then they charged me for seats and I didn’t get a free checked bag and couldn’t ad ANY baggage to my flight. When I called them they gaslit me and told me everything was fine. One of the agents even PRETENDED to call porter airlines and then came back saying everything was fine when it wasn’t, she just didn’t want to deal with it. Now I’m stuck in Calgary with my luggage and can’t get back home, but Expedia thinks it’s fine, they’ll just refund me at a later date. When I escalated, despite my being respectful (though assertive) the supervisor hung up on me.

I booked through Expedia.ca a rental…

I booked through Expedia.ca a rental car for Dublin and was quoted in Canadian funds. The final amount was more in euros than the total booking. When questioned they state that it’s the vendors policy you need to follow. I will never book through them again for a rental car and will advise everyone of the same.

Over charged their mistake

We booked flights and hotel and when we get to the gate Cathy Pacific said there was an error on the booking and we called Expedia customer service and told us we have to cancel and rebook the flight and we will loose $2250 unless we pay $1200 to correct the mistake they made so we paid the $1200 and mistake never corrected and we had to pay Cathy Pacific $$$$ to correct before we loose our chance to fly to our destination. Expedia never refunded the $1200 we paid to correct their mistake so I will never deal with Expedia. Maria was customer service I dealt and after I keep calling to talk to her they told me she doesn't work Expedia anymore.

Expedia works against you and helps scammers!

A hotel in Halifax wanted to digitally scan my Government ID and save it in their system. I would only allow then to look at it and visually identify me due to legitimate identity theft concerns. The hotel would not let me check in and then billed my credit card for an entire week. Expedia worked against me while I was obtaining a credit from Mastercard. Expedia even took the side of the hotel after the hotel realized that scanning was not in their written policy and then lied that I was a no-show. Mastercard finally came through despite the interference from Expedia because I had a taxi charge from the airport to the scam hotel and another taxi to a different hotel 30 minutes later. Expedia are worse than useless in protecting their customers!

Expedia lacks ethics and gouges

We have a couple of issues. First issue is when we booked a flight to East Asia we used a travel agent and then found out that she used Expedia to book our flight when we fully expected the agent to use different resources. To our dismay when we learned that it was booked with Expedia we missed out on the points and we initially had no direct access to the information until we pressed our agent. To us this was disingenuous and we could have booked it ourselves on Expedia. This tells me about the ethics of Expedia's policies.

The other thing beware when booking airfares, especially between countries that are not of your residence!! I searched Expedia for two different flight segments. One between Bangkok and Phnom Pen. Expedia quoted $300 and when I used Booking.com we got the same flight forn$90. Also we booked another multi city flight where Expedia quoted $1300 per person and got it on Booking.com for $300 including some extras. DO NOT TRUST THE QUOTES ON EXPEDIA, shop different online agencies, even Flighthub.com are like Expedia. I found Booking.com more trust worthy so far, unless something happened to someone else reading it.

Research everything about your trip, don't believe everything you see on any booking site!

Consumer beware of the unaccountable…

Consumer beware of the unaccountable loophole with Expedia and purchase:
Awful, 100% Horrible customer and consumer experience. Beware of their horrible and non-reasonable policies to consumers! I’ve never posted a “negative rant” before but consumers need to be aware this company needs to be called out on their poor consumer/customer relations. I booked a car rental at the Vancouver airport and within 40mins was at their counter to pick up the car rental made through Expedia. Without proper information posted on my purchase, they required $1500 deposit or “no car”. This was not stated in their pricing and confirmation I received. I told them I cannot pay that amount and they said sorry, no car, and to call Expedia as they cannot further assist me. In the past 5 weeks I have been joggled between Expedia and Routes car rental with both taken no accountability which leaves the issue unaddressed. Even with escalated managerial assistance, they blame each other. The consumer then is left unfairly with the bill and no rights which seems to be a perfect loophole for both business to cash in on. I would strongly not recommend either Expedia or Routes car rental as a kind tip to a consumer from a consumer of these businesses. If

Sonder filed for bankruptcy over the week end and canceled all reservations and stays, Expedia didn`t even noticed us until 3 days after everything was canceled by Sonder, No empathy, no solutions where offered by expedia. agent just canceled and refunded instead of trying to find a last minute solution.

Be warned they are crooks!!

I have got to warn people about this “company”. My wife booked our trip through them. Flights, cars and accommodations. 6 months in advance mind you. Thankfully. Now upon my wife showing me the accommodations and where it was and how nice it was we messaged them to confirm that we were getting the suite we wanted and that we weren’t sharing anything and would have our own bathroom etc etc. it was a very expensive place in Bowen island BC. Only to find out that not only were we not booked at this place to which we had already fully paid for through Expedia but they don’t even offer anything through them. And the place was neither available on those dates and we sure were not the ones that booked it. We, after considerable hassle got ahold of someone that not only acknowledged that the place was not booked that we fully paid for but they would not refund our full amount for a place that was unbookable. We literally, not figuratively got ripped off and it was 100 percent their fault as well if we didn’t call, we would have gotten to bc thinking we had accommodations and we wouldn’t have. Try getting something on the day of in July…….. worst experience ever. Book direct please. It’s not more hassle and it’s safer. I can’t believe these crooks are still in business. Let’s not even get to the part where we have booked the same trip for next year and it’s costing us half……. To stay longer…. DO NOT use this service. I am not a bot and this is not a scam review. I took time out of my day to write this because they still send me emails and I want to warn others.

Unnecessary fees charged by Toronto hotels

All Toronto hotels are charging above and beyond the legally acceptable (13 + 8.5)% taxes on hotel and hostel bookings. ALL OF THEM. And some have the audacity to tack on Marketing Fees and Cleaning Fees (?) Do they not pay their employees a livable wage? Do not become a victim... Make sure to dispute these unnecessary fees.
