Excellent customer service

Have been using expedia for over 15 years, and I have come to appreciate it even more following horrendous experiences with other platforms. Never had an issue getting refunds for cancellations, and when a flight gets cancelled, they were active in finding a solution and found different flight options. You can reach the customer service and actually talk with them unlike other platforms. The agent was also very helpful when Enterprise did not have any cars available when I went to pick up the car I reserved through Expedia. They also tried to find other companies nearby that would have a car available and also helped with the alternative solution. Will continue using Expedia for future travel plans! Excellent customer service.

They should not be operating.

I made a booking through Skyscanner and was redirected to Expedi. I paid £423.91 for 2 tickets. Got an email about a problem with the tickets, so I rang Expedia and the agent assured me that the ticket would be issued that night (ticketing issues). The travelling day, there were no tickets; had to pay BWP8208 for new tickets. I rang Expedia again and told the agent that since the money was “Pending” and they had seemingly cancelled the reservation, the money should not be allowed to leave my account. Expedia still took the money. I rang them again and told them this was a fraudulent scam- they pretend to sell tickets, take the money, refund when they feel (following their dodgy policy and earn interest while doing so! Imagine if this is happening to a million customers, how much are they making?). The agent I spoke to started citing nonsense about their refund policy of 7 to 10 days; why did they take the money after they'd cancelled the reservation? This made me very irate; the agent did not seem to grasp that I have bills to pay and now I have had to raise the issue with my bank because Expedia still have not refunded the money (two weeks later). I asked them over the phone twice to return my money since they did not provide the service. Advice: Do not ever use the Expedia group, they are scammers, in my opinion. It is a shame that sites like Skyscanner still host them.

EXPEDIA LEFT ME STRANDED

EXPEDIA LEFT ME STRANDED! I would give zero stars if possible. I purchased a package to Italy from USA for March 2026. We flew United out of Newark and had to connect in Rome. Well, the partner airline LUFTHANSA has poor customer service and was not directed to the correct gate. We missed our connection and Lufthansa canceled my ENTIRE round trip tickets without any notification. Expedia kept telling me my tickets were in the system and the airline would tell me the opposite. Long story short I was stranded and had to purchase all new tickets for the whole trip on my own. Expedia is supposed to be a travel agency, but they were no help. It’s been over 3 weeks and there hasn’t been any refund for the original trip. This is a scam!

I purchased a hotel package through Expedia. They have a policy you can cancel it within 24 hours. I had to cancel the package after a few hours of purchase the package because of the flight issues. And Expedia and sol by melia hotel refused to refund my money back. so they’re lying about their policy so this is a scam. I have been a customer with Expedia for probably more than 20 years. Never had any issues cancelling or rescheduling. This is the first time and they’re refusing to refund my money back.

Telephone help not that helpful

Booked an international flight, and during check in learned that the ticket did not include my full name. Airline (Cathay) would only change it for a fee. Expedia told me 'we can't change it within 24 hours per our contract.' Yeah, well it was 36 hours before my flight, which I was then told 'sometimes its longer.' Well there you go. Cathay used the opportunity to upcharge me, which is apparently the way they do business.

Very disappointing experience with…

Very disappointing experience with Easirent in Miami. The price shown on Expedia was not what I ended up paying. I was charged additional fees that were not clearly explained during booking or at pickup, which made the rental much more expensive than expected.

On top of that, customer service was extremely poor. After noticing the overcharges, I contacted them by email multiple times and never received any response. It’s frustrating to deal with a company that does not take responsibility or communicate with its customers.

I would strongly advise others to be cautious when booking with this company. What looks like a good deal upfront may end up costing you much more, with no support if something goes wrong.

Terrible Experience with Expedia in…

Terrible Experience with Expedia in South Korea

I recently had an extremely frustrating experience with Expedia while traveling in South Korea. I booked a flight through their platform under the condition that cancellations or exchanges would cost only $1. Thinking this was straightforward, I cancelled my booking just an hour later.

Expedia then told me I had to contact the airline directly. The airline was efficient and confirmed that since I cancelled on the same day of booking, I was entitled to a full refund. I even received a cancellation confirmation within minutes. However, when I returned to Expedia, their system still wouldn’t let me cancel the booking.

I tried using Expedia’s virtual agent, but it constantly showed errors. After wasting more time, I finally managed to reach a human staff member at Expedia’s Seoul office. She checked and confirmed that the airline had already cancelled the booking, reassuring me that the money would be refunded.

Despite this, the money was later withdrawn from my account. To make matters worse, I have been unable to reach Expedia’s customer service since then. The lack of support and broken systems have left me extremely frustrated.

Good experiences with Expedia customer service

You know, I’ve always had great experience every time I called Expedia. They answer promptly on the phone. With recent call for changing flight and booking for bereavement purposes, the person I was talking to (Mervin) went above and beyond, calling airlines and hotel on their end to advocate.

ROGUE PACKAGES

When booking a package of hotel and flights my booking repeatedly failed with the message that I should try later. However, though no bookings showed in my Expedia account, my credit card was repeatedly charged for flights only, totalling c£1,200 - but no hotel. Endless arguments with Expedia and promises of refunds led to them telling me to contact the airline instead (which charges for cancellations) as though they had no responsibility. AVOID EXPEDIA.

Scammed by Expedia

I feel like I have been scammed by Expedia by what looks like 1'000's of reviews. There must be something we can all do? to take this further where they are liable to give a refund?
Due to Cyclone Narelle our flight was cancelled to Learmonth airport being closed. I contacted Expedia, where frustratingly the only way to contact is to have Virtual assistant and then type messages out in an online chat. I requested Refund for the flight that was cancelled. They gave me a Case number. then I get an email that they have booked me in to a flight the following week. There was an option on that email to select Cancel which I did but then they did not cancel me on this flight and I received email from Qantas again about being ready for the flight. I needed to go through same process all over again and received another 2nd Case number and they said someone will be in contact with me in the next 72 hours although have heard nothing. I have since received another email from Qantas and then Expedia booking me on yet another flight because the 2nd flight date (that I thought I had cancelled because I never requested that date) was cancelled again and so they booked me on yet another flight. i have selected Cancel and again on the Virtual chat with no resolution. These tickets cost $900 and so I want that money back as it was out of my control. I feel we should be able to take this further if they do not refund which reading all these messages it looks to be a commone occurence. They should not be able to get away with this.

Free Cancellation is a Total Lie

Free Cancellation is a Total Lie. In spite of very clear language and paying extra for free cancellation if I cancel within the next three weeks Expedia is refusing to let me cancel unless the host of the room they rented me agrees.

I will never use expedia.com anymore

I will never use expedia.com anymore. I travel a lot. I was in Thailand. My flight got canceled from Qatar airlines and they still charged me a $250 fee when Qatar airlines was not charging any cancellations fee. I think Expedia is a joke and I will never use them again.

Staff barely speaks English. TERRIBLE COSTUMER SERVICE

Staff barely speaks English.

I had an extremely frustrating experience with Expedia, and I will never use their service again. Their customer service is absolutely terrible. When an issue came up with my booking, I expected them to advocate for me as their customer—but instead, they immediately sided with the hotel without even making a genuine effort to understand my situation.

It felt like Expedia’s priority was protecting their partnership with the hotel rather than helping the person who actually paid for the reservation. Every interaction with their support team was exhausting—long wait times, scripted responses, and no real solutions. I was passed around from one representative to another, each one less helpful than the last.

What’s most disappointing is the complete lack of accountability. Instead of taking responsibility or trying to resolve the issue fairly, they simply defaulted to agreeing with the hotel, leaving me stuck and out of pocket.

If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, I strongly recommend booking directly with hotels instead of using Expedia. At least then you’ll know who you’re dealing with—because with Expedia, don’t expect support when you actually need it.

Expedia? Never means never again.

I’ve used Expedia on only a few occasions. One thing I can say is they are consistent.
Consistently I have had misrepresentations on the property I rented. The photos provided were for a different property. The address was wrong. The amenities were simply not included - I’m talking oven, microwave, full size fridge, expresso machine, “dining table” (when it was a tiny metal outdoor table 60cm diameter and 2 folding metal stools) ….. etc.
The location information was false. The nearby amenities false.
When I attempted multiple times to place a review for 2 of the properties, Expedia would consistently say “the review had ‘profanity’ or something else which they did not).

Never using Expedia for any booking ever again.

Blatant Theft This system forces me to provide one…

This system forces me to provide one star before I can continue but minus stars would be appropriate.
Due to circumstance my motel agreed to last minute cancel my booking which they processed but my card was never credited.
When emailing to enquire you will constantly referred to
booking.com and other members of the web and no information supplied will be enough.
In result they have stolen the money in full that they only had a right to a commission on.
No national authority has any interest as they operate internationaly I think from China.

If I could give 0 star I would

If I could give 0 star I would. The company and its practices are so bad.even the employees sound robotic. They say things like they want to help but end up trying to sell you things that you didn't even ask for. Many times it's just a problem with simple comprehension. I'm just done.

PUBLIC HEALTH HAZARD - Expedia refuses refund despite BED BUG infestation

Absolutely disgraceful and dangerous behavior. I documented a severe bed bug infestation at "Budgetel Bergen" a full month in advance, providing photographic evidence and recent guest warnings.

Incredibly, Expedia’s dispute department confirmed to me in writing that the property underwent pest control treatments only 5 weeks ago and that Rentokil (pest control company) is currently scheduled for further emergency inspections. Despite this clear admission of an ongoing biological hazard, Expedia refuses to refund my money.

Furthermore, they attempted to coerce me into signing a "Letter of Agreement" to waive my consumer rights in exchange for a cancellation. They are prioritizing profit over public safety and the risk of travelers spreading parasites back to their homes. I had to pay for alternative safe accommodation out of my own pocket.

I have officially reported both Expedia and the property to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) and the Chief Municipal Physician of Bergen (Kommuneoverlegen).

DO NOT BOOK WITH EXPEDIA. They act in bad faith and show zero regard for traveler safety and hygiene standards.
