WORST. COMPANY. EVER.

I accidentally filled out a repair form on eyeglasses depot after unwittingly googling "Maui Jim glasses repair" and thought that Maui Jim maybe was contracting out to another company for their minor repairs (which Maui Jim does for free!)

Eyeglasses Depot started immediately harassing me several times a day with phone calls, emails, and texts... That was a red flag and should have been my 1st clue) and when I finally realized my mistake, I requested my glasses be sent back to me.

Multiple weeks and emails later, not only was I originally quoted a more than $200 repair price (which was more than the brand new glasses and frames cost!) But once I requested they be sent back to me unrepaired so I can send them to Maui Jim to get them repaired FOR FREE, they reached out saying they would do a special deal to repair them for $69 Seriously?!? What kind of company does this? Obviously the first repair quote was incredibly overpriced, and then they tried to reel me in by lowering the price by 75%.

SUPER shady. It took me weeks and 5 emails of me requesting my glasses back unrepaired, to the point where the only thing that made them send them back was threatening to report them to the Better Business Bureau.

One month to the day of me starting this whole debacle I received them back (yesterday), and today I filled out the correct repair form with Maui Jim for the temple piece to be repaired for free!

Also, I think they have a lot of fake positive reviews otherwise they would have an even lower overall rating. Who gushes that much about their glasses repair? At the most they would say "Good company. They did what they were supposed to do and my glasses were repaired", but who would gush about it like that, especially when you are paying them for that service? I think a lot of their positive reviews are fake, and also note how they attack customers who post bad reviews.

I put a lot of stock in paying attention to how companies respond to negative feedback and these guys failed that test, as well as their aggressive, shady, and horrible business practices. I hope they go out of business!

On the flip side, I WILL gush about Maui Jim for their awesome repair policy and awesome customer service! This will be the 2nd time in less than a year that I have sent them in for a free temple piece repair (I've been wearing them while laying in bed at night to watch TV, but I will not be doing that anymore!). Those guys are on their game and do the repairs for free in a timely mounter. Now THERE is a company worth gushing about.

I needed to replace a pair of my favorite glasses. I loved a certain Gucci style that is over 10 years old. I searched far and wide then I discovered EDG. I found my beloved frames! I called EGD and the pair I wanted was scratched and they didn't want to send it to me. I was disappointed. However they searched high and low for a new pair and they found them! Sam from customer service was awesome. He kept me informed every step of the way! Thank you! I love my new frames!!!

I was led to believe that I was getting repairs from Costa direct. I was priced for getting 580G lenses replaced in my Reeftons. The initial price that I was given was beyond ridiculous! I requested my glasses back or a reduced price. I found out my glasses had been thrown away! I had no choice but to take the reduced price.

Not only was I replaced with PLASTIC lenses (at a price I could have bought a BRAND NEW pair of Costas!!!), the frames sent back WERE NOT MINE (and have a nick on the nose! There was NO DAMAGE to the glasses that i sent in other than the arms needing repaired and a broken lens) and had damage! I am going to the BBB to report this business owner threatening to not help me if I didn’t expose his business. He takes your glasses and uses cheap replacement lenses that offer NO PROTECTION TO THE SUN compared to what you initially get. They are worthless lenses. Not only that, you don’t get YOUR glasses back that you sent in! This is a SCAM that poses as official repair teams for brands like Costa, Maui Jim, etc. this is a business that takes advantage of people!

I am beyond PISSED.

***Important Edit: Alex the owner has been pressuring me heavily to redact this review. I told him that i would be happy to do so once he resolved the issue as this is exactly what happened. He went so far as to threaten to not help me if I didn’t remove this post. He told me “I will respond to your review in a way that will make you look bad and not me.” It’s incumbent upon him to fix the issue yet he wants to pass the blame. It’s 4:55 PM EST on November 14th. He told me he would have Reeftons for me on the 11th yet didn’t. He doesn’t care about me or my issue. He cares that you all will see this and avoid! I warn all of you, stay away from this business! He admitted to me that they replace many Costas with non Costa lenses. This company makes money hand over fist taking advantage of people and Alex knows it. That’s the reason he’s pressuring me to remove this post! Avoid at all costs! I will be going to the BBB.

Excellent work! My Costa Sunglasses were shipped back to me quickly and repaired correctly. Will be using EyeGlassDepot again if the need arises.

i just received my broken glasses back from eyeglassdepot. i followed all instructions, sent them in after a representative checked my photograph of the broken temples, received notice that they had them and forwarded them to their repair people, and notice they were on their way back to me.
i opened the little envelope contained them, put them on, and, wow just like new again thanks so much!

Eyeglasses Depot, the store in Brooklyn New York, is the only place I trust to repair my favorite glasses. I own several prescription eyeglasses, some of which I've had for over a decade because I like them so much. I have also purchased glasses from Eyeglasses Depot and it was an equally great experience. They always do things right.

So far, this company has been top notch. They immediately responded to my email saying the prepaid postage label was not attached to the confirmation email. when I say immediate, we are talking about 60 seconds. If the rest of the transaction goes like this, I will be very pleased. I will keep this review updated.

The facts are as follows:
1) Prescription COSTA sunglasses sent in based upon a $20-$30 estimate to replace the nosepiece.
2) After receipt of the glasses, the vendor returned a $129 estimate, which I interpreted as a "bait and switch" effort.
3) I requested that they return the glasses as-is.
4) They arrived poorly packed and both lenses were popped out of the frame.
5) I expressed my displeasure, and the vendor negotiated a middle-ground, sending me a replacement frame face for a nominal fee.
6) The replacement works fine, but is obviously not new, as it has several scratches. That is not a problem to me, as this is an older pair of glasses.

The bottom line is that I'm happy with the result, although it was not a smooth transaction.

Indicated they would replaced with factory lenses and then sent wrong ones back. Worst customer service ever. Should not be in business with the way they deal with and handle their communication.

Since...owner reached out and indicated they would replace the lenses to the manufactures specs. Need to mail them back and start the process over.

Owner is being helpful in trying to correct the issue.

I sent in my glasses along with the broken parts for a quote and decided not to get them fix because it was going to cost just as much to fix them as it would be to buy a new pair. I paid their $13 return fee and ended up getting them back without all the pieces that i send them. I contacted them and asked where my other pieces was and their response was “ they throw it” “like when car brakes you change they throw old away” “you no need broke one”. So i told them this is why they have many bad reviews and they text back with “you sent with broke frames we returned with broke frames, no harm no foul”. So now it won’t let me send them any more messages so i guess they block people with issues. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! DO NOT SHIP YOUR GLASSES TO THESE PEOPLE!! SCAM SCAM SCAM!! I have all text and emails to back up my review

I purchased Revo sunglass couple years ago my puppy jumped up on counter. Knocked them to tile floor and cracked my Len. Sent them to eyeglasses depot they fixed in very fashionable time. Very pleased

i love this site!!, at first it was a lot of information to start with, it can be a little overwhelming, but once you get started this site will become very easy to use, and i love the prices that they have on all of their items, and the best part is that they have a very small layaway deposit.

great customer service prompt and courteous

This is a wrong rating percentage. They file their own good reviews to offset the bad ones. They are a scam. If you fill out their online form - which does not constitute a contract - they try to harass you into sending in your glasses even if you decide not to do business with them after investigating them. If you don't send your glasses in, they will harass you to pay a fee for the mailing label that costs them nothing and a "cancellation" fee. Check out their ratty storefront on Google Maps. Google "Has online's biggest bully returned?" for the May 2, 2021 New York Times article about the convicted criminal who runs this business.

Eyglassesdepot.com has some of the most beautiful sunglasses available and are extremely easy to work with. Their prices are also very competitive.
