Bought a Lumaray light and after a couple of years the rechargeable battery died. Contacted Fabric.cc who said it couldn’t be replaced and the product should be binned.
Unsatisfied, and caring about the planet, I undid four screws, googled the battery number and bought a pack of three for a tenner on eBay. After 2 mins of clumsy soldering on two wires the light has a new battery and a new lease of life.
It’s a sad reflection on modern consumerism, health and safety madness and corporate greed that the accepted advice is to throw a perfectly serviceable product into landfill rather than advise on how to prolong it’s life.
