Bought an absolute lemon. Not a good dealer to buy from

Bought an absolute lemon.

I originally had issues, like many others it seems about delays with the vehicle being ready once bought. It wasn't a massive issue but it was 4 days longer than expected. Another issue was some confusion about which vehicle i was getting as there were 3 of the same models but at different price points, it was a bit of a farce.

I've had the vehicle just over 3 months and i've had a persistent fault with the dpf (which the warranty on the vehicle doesn't cover). I've had to have it removed from the vehicle and fully cleaned at a cost of over £400 and now i have to replace sensors on it at an additional £200. I've had it in for a full service and have been told that both front arms, shock absorbers need replacing and the brakes have not been replaced correctly when last sorted, which will now cost me well over a £1000 to get it to a decent standard. It seems their full vehicle checks are aquick glance over.

good service, huge selection

I just bought a ford ranger. Great service. really friendly and a huge selection of vans. Some complaints on here are unjustified...I got the impression they just buy up ex lease vehicles and sell them on. Most of which are usually looked after and have been dealer serviced.
So you know the risks, as with any other purchase. I got the 6 month warranty sorted same day as collection. drove away very happy. I would recommend this company for value. of course there is always risk with any vehicle private or trade. You get the excellent warranty so happy days.
Falkirk vans have done themselves proud. Good selection of vans, at unbeatable prices.

AVOID!

The decision to purchase a van through this company has cost me time, money, my experience has been beyond frustrating to say the least.
I purchased this van for my small business to replace one written off in an accident. I travelled to Falkirk on 9th May to pay my deposit, at this point I was advised the van would be ready within a week or two as it needed an MOT, for some vinal lettering to be removed and for a glazing rail to be reattached. The van passed it’s MOT on 10th May, and I was advised the van would be ready for collection on 31 May.
I travelled back to Falkirk to collect the van on 3rd June. On my arrival the office didn’t have the V5 document, even though they were aware of the sale for more than a month giving them plenty of time to acquire one. The lady in the office gave me a form and a cheque for the cost of a replacement V5 and instructed me to go to any Post Office and I would be able to tax the van immediately. At this point I raised my concerns of driving the van without any tax, the gent who I believe to be the owner of the business advised it would be fine to drive with no tax as this has been decriminalised and if I were to be caught, I would just get a small fine. I was left with no choice but to drive the 64 miles back to my hometown with no tax as I had traded in my original van and had made full payment for the van I was expecting to drive home.
On my return I went straight to a post office to arrange the tax, the teller advised they couldn’t put it through, I attended a second post office and was told the same. I ended up calling the DVLA who advised not only was this van still registered to the previous owner, it was also SORN. They would need to reach out to confirm the sale with the registered keeper, only then could they issue a replacement V5. I was told this process could take up to 4 weeks, in the meantime, I should make sure the van is kept off the road. As a small business this was pretty devastating.
I called the office in Falkirk to let them know I was having difficulty with taxing the vehicle and I was going to be left with no van for up to a month. I assumed they were the registered keeper and would be able to contact the DVLA and perhaps speed this process up, I was told they do not register the van to them and the official keeper of this van was a leasing company from whom they had purchased the van from at auction, complicating matters even further. I could tell from the DVLA website a replacement V5 was issued in December, I assume to allow the sale within the auction, I asked if they could have a look for the document but was swiftly told they didn’t have it and I was basically on my own.
I requested they either make a contribution towards the cost of me hiring a van, or allow me to borrow a taxed van from them so I can continue working. My call was passed to the owner, he declined to help in any way, he reiterated it was no longer a criminal offence to drive without tax. I informed the gent I run a legitimate business and was not comfortable having a van on the road with no tax, especially when I had been told by the DVLA to keep the van off the road. He responded we would be fine to drive it without tax and to ignore what the DVLA had advised as we probably wouldn’t be caught.
At this point I realised I was not going to get anywhere with this company. I managed to arrange off road storage and I’m glad I did as it took the full 4 weeks for my V5 to be issued. I ended up paying £940 for 2 weeks of van hire to allow me to carry out jobs promised to my customers and keep my 2 employees in work.
On inspection the original vinal lettering had not been completely removed as promised, causing more work before I could apply my own decals. I discussed having a glass rack reattached to the van, hence the reason for the 3 week delay in me being able to collect. The rack was never reattached. I am also missing a Ford emblem badge, not a big deal but again I was promised a replacement would be sent in the post but I am now 2 months down the line and doubt it will appear.
It goes without saying I will never use this company again and would not be able to recommend anyone else does. I expect when I purchase a van at the very least to be provided with a V5 to transfer ownership. This lack of organisation at their end has cost my business a fortune. Not only the van hire but I have lost out on work and had to let customers down due to unexpectedly not having a van for a month, plus the cost of off road storage and many hours myself trying to sort out the mess they created by simply not providing me with a V5. I still don’t understand why they didn’t arrange a copy in the month between me purchasing the van and collecting it. I found them to be very unprofessional and unwilling to help in any way once they had my money. There was no compassion for my situation and the fact they suggested it would be ok for me to have an untaxed vehicle on the road speaks volumes.

STAY AWAY FROM FALKIRK VAN SALES

STAY AWAY FROM FALKIRK VAN SALES.

WE PAID A DEPOSIT OF £300 A FEW WEEKS AGO FOR A WHITE DFSK EC35 VAN AND WERE DUE TO GET IT ON 15/04/24.

HOWEVER IT WASN’T READY. WE WERE ADVISED IT HAD FAULTS, NOW THIS IS A BRAND NEW PRE REGISTERED ELECTRIC VAN!!!
THAT IT NEEDED TO GO TO THE MAIN DEALER AND THEY DIDN’T KNOW WHEN IT WOULD BE BACK.
THEY KNEW WE NEEDED THE VAN BY THE MONDAY 15th APRIL.
BY THE 20th THEY STILL DIDNT KNOW WHEN IT WOULD BE READY AND ARE STILL ADVERTISING IT FOR SALE.

WE HAVE SINCE ASKED FOR OUR DEPOSIT BACK AND HAVE BEEN IGNORED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS.

STAY WELL CLEAR.

WE ARE ONLY HIGHLIGHTING THIS SO NO ONE ELSE GETS TAKEN IN LIKE US!!

Don’t hope you get a good van, go to a reputable dealer instead!!!!

The absolute worst…mileage was tampered with by 40k miles. Major issues within 2months of owning it. Told they had the mileage warranted…..which means nothing in reality!!!!!Absolutely zero help from them or any type of come and go even though the van I bought was tampered with. Please avoid at all cost as these guys are crooks and if you get a bad van, you will be left with scrap metal as they will wash their hands of you once they have your money!!!

My case is now with trading standards and DVLA

professional and respectful

Steven couldn't have been more helpful with our recent van inquiry offering a respectful and professional approach and nothing was too much trouble, even sending out a close inspection video of the van we were interested in.

Avoid at all costs

After the initial problems with no V5 after purchase back in July the van has only managed to do 200 miles, the warranty company are an absolute waste of time too, take anything either Falkirk van sales or momentum warranty tell you with a pinch of salt.
I've had to replace ERG valve (£600), gear box repair (£200), had a service done because I quickly realized I didn't trust this guy (£150), including purchase & insurance payments I'm currently about £10,000 in. As I write this today on 13/12/23 that heap of scrap is still sitting at the garage waiting on another fault diagnosis, engine management light again. Having read other reviews this seems to be a common thing with the vans at Falkirk van sales.
When I phoned him earlier in the year, about 5 days after purchase, Stephen told me he was in France, the dialing tone was not the European dial tone!
It amazes me how this guy continues to get away with conning people out of their hard earned money
I bet the Porsche that he drives about in doesn't have a engine management issue!

Do not have any dealing with this…

Do not have any dealing with this company. I bought a ford ranger from them. I paid £300 deposit to them. Before collecting I did a check on line and found the ranger had outstanding finance on it. I contacted the finance company who advised there was still outstanding finance on it and told me not to buy this. I advised Steven of this and he said “don’t worry about it”. I have tried to make contact With Steven many times for my £300 refund but he will not answer any call from me now. We have reported this to police Scotland who were very interested in what he has done, they will be knocking on their door.

BEWARE of dealing with this company

BEWARE of dealing with this company. If as a last resort you feel you need to use this company take an experienced mechanic with you. The van we bought had been tampered with enough to make it leave the yard it cut out within 30 minutes!!! When phoned we were told to bring it back, that lead to weeks of misery. Plus paid £500 pounds for a warranty that was never purchased as Momentum Warranties knew nothing about us. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALER. SHARKS.

Bought van had been in accident. Warranty worthless.

I bought a van from Falkirk Van Sales. It came with a 12 month warranty from 'Momentum Warranties'.
The back doors didn't close properly - my mechanic said the van had been involved in a crash and pointed out the evidence of this. Momentum Warranties refused to pay out for the repair as the warranty is for 'engine faults only'.
8 weeks later the van broke down. Needed a new engine. Stephen Rooney, the owner of Falkirk Van Sales, said his mechanic could help me if I waited 3 months. When I challenged him about this he said that he didn't really have to help me as the van purchase was now outwith his 4 week 'responsibility' period.
I contacted Momentum Warranties who then told me their maximum payout is £1000. I had to pay the other £6000 myself.
I should have seen by the fake tan and the second hand Bently that Falkirk Van Sales is not a quality vehicle dealer. Buy from them at your own risk.
I do not recommend and serious regret my experience with them.
