Adrien showed up and was professional

Adrien showed up and was professional, efficient and reassuring. When you’re at the mercy of an urgent problem, it’s very refreshing to not be squeezed for unnecessary spending. Adrien was very fair and honest about what needed doing and when. This could easily have ended up costing me a fortune, but thanks to his integrity it didn’t.

Mixed

An Addition to below: Rob did bother to call following the below review to explain their point of view, which was appreciated so added an additional star for following up and after a long conversation we have agreed to disagree on most points but Rob highlighted his offense at the phrase 'rip off' as they did inform us of charges before doing any works and we agreed to them, which as a reasonable person I see is a fair point. So this has been removed, instead, I would say we do feel they did work on a boiler that they knew was very unlikely to be fixable and should have just suggested changing the boiler at the beginning which they did not, only after trying to fix and charging to do so a comment was made that it probably would have been best to just change the entire boiler - this should have been stated at the beginning not after trying to do fix as this would have saved all parties time and money if suggested before. Rob did offer a refund of £100 as a gesture of goodwill... however we are still waiting to see this arrive.

The previous review- edited:
Overpriced, didn’t fix the problem. The guy didn’t seem to know what he was doing and after trying to repair said it was beyond repair as too old. So in summary after charging £60 callout and then another few hundred to try and repair a non-repairable boiler (their words) I am still left with a boiler that doesn’t work. At least before they started we had hot water now we don’t even have that. Rob who was in the office was very nice however, shame about the rest of the service.

I can understand your frustration, but would like to reply from our point of view.

Our charges were fully explained every step of the way. We were called to repair the boiler, and we diagnosed a faulty part. This part looked to be the main issue and was relatively cheap. Our engineer said the best option would be to change the boiler due to the age and condition. The other option would be to change this part, but we could not guarantee that this would fix the boiler and there could be other parts required. You decided to go with the cheaper option. The part was replaced, but unfortunately other parts were needed, just as we had warned. We offered to change the boiler at a discounted rate, but this was declined.

We gave you all the information and let you decide, yet this is being held against us because it didn't go the way you wanted.

Try another company if you want value for money

I am sad to have to give a bad review here. Next time I will go to a company with a fixed price. We ended up paying almost £400 to unblock a kitchen drain, for two hours work - call-out fee, plus two hours. In the past, unblocking this same drain has been a relatively quick job. Not sure why this was more challenging. At any rate, fine, my choice to go to a company without a fixed rate. I am left wondering though if the fact that the rate was not fixed led to the job taking longer, as in the past a similar problem was fixed more quickly. Also, we were charged £20 for parking when I had let the office know there was free parking for the operative in the courtyard - this message was not passed on to him. Next time, I will go to a company with a fixed rate, and will check the parking message has been passed on. Others may find my experience helpful. The reviews on Trustpilot have been good, but if you wish to save money and still have a good service, I think there are other companies to try.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience. Would never recommend them.

Called out Fast Response to report that there had been a leak to our boiler, though it was not leaking at the time. Requested a service. Two men plus an apprentice attended. The two men spent five to ten minutes complaining about the boiler (which was providing good heat and hot water) and then pronounced it beyond repair, even though it is only seven years old. Though the boiler has not had a formal service in that time, it has been maintained well, with at least three engineers visiting separately and making full repairs to faults found. The men used this history to blame the problem on us, accusing us of negligence, when in truth we have hardly missed a day’s heat in seven years. They said a repair would be ‘uneconomic’ as parts alone could cost £400-£500. I said I would still like an option of repair, given that a new boiler is at least £3,000, and asked for a list of parts they had found broken. They listed three major components, said new parts were necessary for each and got annoyed when I wrote everything down and asked their names. They then snatched the payment form from me and dashed out of the building. When I asked what they were intending to do next (referring obviously to the repair), one of the men shouted back: “We are going to get drunk.” The apprentice was the only one to apologise. I rang the office to complain and was told that the men had had a “bad day”. They promised to send an estimate for repair by today. They have not done so. The men waived the half-hourly fee and charged me for the call out. But I still paid £72 and was left at the end of the visit in exactly the position I was in when I called them out, with absolutely no progress made. I called another gas engineering firm who attended promptly. I asked them to do a complete review, not telling them about the other firm, and they only found one faulty part, which they said would cost about £100 to replace? They checked the other two parts that Fast Response said were faulty and said they were fine. I asked this gas engineer if he thought the boiler was uneconomic to repair. He replied: “No way. This boiler is only 7 years old and has at least another 13 years of life in it.”

Tell me honestly. Would any of you readers use Fast Response again after such a horrible experience? I felt totally ripped off and would never recommend them to anybody.

Six years of intermittent heating problems and conflicting advice - new thermostat, changed wifi provider, boiler services, radiators balanced ...
Chris is very knowledgeable and for the first time I felt confident the problem (actually several) would be identified and sorted.
He and his colleagues worked hard, were pleasant, professional and the central heating is finally working properly. I am delighted.

We were pleased to see the same guys who installed our CH boiler 14 months ago. They serviced the boiler very efficiently yesterday two days after we'd rung them. We would heartily recommend Fast Response as plumbers and installers of heating systems.

Were absolutely brilliant

Chris and Adrienne were absolutely brilliant when helping us out with a leak and went above and beyond what we expected of them. The leak was affecting one of our neighbours so needed to be attended to quickly - Chris arrived for the first call out within about half an hour of me calling Fast Response Plumbers and was efficient in finding the source of the leak. This involved removing several tiles from the bathroom in our new property, which was nerve-wracking as we wouldn’t have been able to replace any damaged tiles. Chris went to source the replacement parts required and even took a bit of mastic sealant with him so he could match the exact colour for putting the tiles back. Chris was very careful and efficient with the job - nothing was damaged and he and made everything look good as new by the time he had finished. Very respectful and efficient - definitely worth the money. Would 100% recommend.

Exorbitant charges for a small leak

Exorbitant charges for a small leak, no respect for our house, or self isolation. Left us with no heating and loose flooring. Didn’t even bother to turn off the water first, so leakage into kitchen via lighting. So no electric for an evening. Felt as though we were being talked to while they stretched out the job to 2.5 hrs

Hi Terry,

Firstly I'll like to apologise if you were not happy with the service. Our main aim is to ensure we get A solution to the problem but I would like to address some points.

You called us after you put a nail into a pipe, trying to secure a loose floorboard. The water was leaking from the pipe and damaging your property. We got there in under an hour as requested. Our plumber arrived with this apprentice both wearing PPE. The rates were explaining over the phone prior to booking and confirm once again by our plumber on arrival.

They both set about fixing the leak. We didn't need to turn off the water for the whole property, as it was a central heating pipe the nail went through and we used the valve to shut off the water supply to it. The water that came through the ceiling was residue water which came from the leak before we got onsite. It can take a while for all the water to come through, this was all explained whilst onsite. Both the plumber and his apprentice were working the whole time but you were only charged for one man. We didn't fix the loose flooring as we are plumbers and this is not our field of expertise. The job was done properly and we guarantee all of our work. We understand it was a difficult situation.

I had got myself into a tight spot on a DIY plumbing job.
I managed to get an airlock in the whole hot water system when refilling the cold water tank; Chris from Fast Response arrived the same afternoon, listened patiently to my description of the problem, and was able to promptly (and courteously) apply the correct treatment to get it working again - without it costing the earth.
This meant the family has got their hot running water back without significant delay.
Thanks for a job well done.

Beware: Scammers

Beware! These are scammers!

They charge per half hour and mislead you on how long the job will take. They said 1-hour max. Then on the day before arriving, they said it would have to take a lot longer than that.

We also agreed to pay in cash but they asked for card details upfront when booking them is. Luckily we gave them a card with no cash on it. On the day before arrival, they then tried to take money off our card! When it was declined they then rang up asking for money!

P.S. They don't even know what Terms and Conditions are!? Pure scammers.

Let us start with the facts.

- Firstly we have never done any work for you or have even been to your property.

- Secondly, we never state how long jobs take over the phone we only quote our rates. This is because we cannot see the job through the phone. We can give an idea of time once we are on-site and have seen the job required.

- Thirdly yes, we do validate customer cards before attending the site. This is to ensure that is it a genuine customer.

On the day we explained that we cannot attend the site without a valid card. At this point, you got hostile, swore down the phone and said how you will post a bad review.

After many years in the trade, we tend to find that only bad customers have bad cards and we do not want to work for bad customers.
