Excellent filament
Excellent filament, ordered a single roll of black PLA as a test for my first purchase from filamentive and its excellent material, it prints really nicely on my bambu lab x1 carbon.
It was dispatched and delivery very fast. I will absolutely be ordering the rest of my filaments from here from now on.
I like how they sell refill rolls as that means I can use the material in the Bambu lab AMS.
Thought the filament was bad but printer was the problem
Ok, to start with I was cursing the eco PLA black. I could get nothing to print, changed nozzle, altered the temperatures, flow rate and was about to buy a filament dryer. The ran a test on the belt and xy was off.
Since this change i am really happy with prints and have successfully printed numerous items large and small. Currently attempting 12hr print..
Spool after spool of waterlogged PETG
I bought 5 spools of 2.85mm black rPETG and I'd like to say before I share this that the company very kindly fully refunded me after the order was significantly delayed. Please consider this review to be for the product and not the customer service.
Upon opening the boxes I found it odd that the spools weren't properly vacuum wrapped but rather sealed in an unintentionally perforated wrap.
The first problem I noticed right away when loading the filament was the cardboard spools did not properly lock into the holder on the back of my Ultimaker 2+E. Compatibility issues are understandable and you can't cater for every single printer out there but the Ultimaker series is so ubiquitous that I can only see this as a significant design flaw. Nevertheless, I fitted the spool as carefully as possible and prayed to the 3d printing god that it would not fall off. Just kidding, if there were such a thing as the 3d printing god then to badly paraphrase Nietzsche: god is dead and this filament killed him.
My first experience of printing with this plastic can be summarised with the tagline of a popular breakfast cereal; snap, crackle, pop. This was by far the most blatantly wet spool of PETG I have ever extruded with. Printing was full of stringing, inconsistent extrusion and an overall unusable result. Digging through another 2 spools I found both of them had the exact same issues. I tried everything to get this filament to print, starting with a clean nozzle, under-temperature, and over-temperature, but nothing would help fix this filament.
I desperately wanted to love this filament after such a nice experience talking with their customer service and I hope I just had a couple of bad spools from an otherwise solid filament manufacturer, but who knows.
