Valuable Service

Having been with Motley Fool share advisor for a number of years I am very happy to recommend their service. There are some shares that are put forwards as first things to buy and then others are put forward when they are shown to be attractive. There are updates on previously recommended shares. In the reports both points for and risks are outlined although it is, of course, at your own risk. There is a distinct philosophy of share buying - that you hold shares for at least 5 years so it is not a moment to moment service. There are forums that look well used although I have not used them much. For me it has been really helpful to also have regular information on how to analyse companies and things to look for. I really value - in all senses- the service.

They give decent honest advice

They give decent honest advice. They do not offer Get Rich Quick, nor are they 100% perfect in their predictions, no one can be. For just over a decade, I have followed their advice and my modest Nest Egg in an ISA has more than doubled.

Diversification and patience are key to investing. Some investments have lost money, most have gained, some have gained BIG. You need a minimum time frame of 3 years.

Never risk money you cannot afford to lose

Save your money

Save your money - buy a dartboard, pin some companies to it, chuck some darts. Probably have better returns than following the recommendations from this lot

And, you can't easily cancel the subsciption ... always a sign of a poor company

pretty much unimpressive

pretty much unimpressive, can't really compare to the US website which I read occasionally as well. I was looking through their investment tips (luckily not taking up any of them) and was not impressed to say the least. seems like their main agenda is to bash meme stocks (the amount of articles against them is astonishing) and some crypto

Seem pretty sus

I like to read articles to gain insights into the markets, but all the motley Fool seems to spew put is targeted articles against meme stocks. This makes me doubt the integrity of the company as a whole. I certainly would not subscribe to them

First impressions

I read the reviews and note that there are copious 1 star reviews which state that the share tips are used to move their own fund, but I can't buy the fund so I thought I would try the tips.

After paying, the very first thing I am presented with is an offer to upgrade, pay more for the good stuff that I thought I was getting. I declined.

The very next thing was a report on "5 Top Shares For The Green Industrial Revolution" dated 13th May 2021 - that's over 6 months ago!

Anyway, even if the tips were out of date, I would at least assess whether their old tips performed well over the last 6 months, so here they are:

Company - price at 13th May - price today

Greencoat UK Wind PLC - 130.45 - 133.80
Foresight Solar Fund Ltd - 98.20 - 100.00
Victrex plc - 2,412 - 2,302
Genuit Group PLC - 545.00 - 570.00
Fresnillo Plc - 869.00 - 901.00

If I had put £1,000 into each share, £5,000 total investment I would be up £81.10 or 1.62% assuming that my dealing costs were nothing.

If I allow £11.95 per transaction (current HL fees) then after ten trades, I would have made a loss of £38.40.

Shib army

Creating false, detrimental articles about shib, spreading fud and trying to control the market. I'd leave 0 stars if I could. Should not spread false information about crypto currencies

They're a puppet used by Hedge funds to spread any "fake" article that will help these cooperations. They're in it for themselves, not for the retailer. Keep that in mind when reading their "news"

What a waste of money this was

What a waste of money this was. If you just take the basic package, you get some tips that you can find on most free sites. As soon as they think they have better information, you have to pay more to get that information. A simple rip-off.
After one year, the shares they mentioned are down 2%. The shares I got from Barclays investor services (at £4 per month) are up 8%. I know it's only a year, but the irritating part was having to pay extra every time

Never the best recommendations

Like many, I subscribed to what was described as a premium stock tipping service only to watch as a series of new services have been rolled out. I assumed that if there is a good investment tip that would be put forward in the original service. As it seems not they need to acknowledge that their service does not actually provide the best tips, rather they provide the mediocre tips dressed up as premium. Frankly I don't get why they bother to operate this dodgy business model and if they did consolidate such that you did actually receive the best tips on any given day then it might be a good service. For now it feels more like i have been scammed, likely not their intention but absolutely the impression you are left with. You have to be a fool to be a fool!

Motley Fool replied to this review as it was originally posted against fool.com rather than fool.co.uk but that's a rather minor distinction as they mirror each other in their sharp practice. Bottom line why would anyone sign up for recommendations that might accumulate returns of 10-40% rather than 18,000%. You wouldn't..

Really terrible stock picking tips and…

Really terrible stock picking tips and endless attempts to upsell. What is worse is that I've noted that some of the Fire picks they've recommended seem to plummet almost immediately after being tipped - I'm not saying that this is a pump and dump mechanism but something feels badly amiss. Avoid

A shadow of the impressive US…

A shadow of the impressive US stockpicking service. I've been a subscriber to the UK one and found it pretty disappointing. Bland recommendations and that's including the occasional US rec that they throw in and a relentless sales funnel for more subscriptions. Two things bug me especially: 1) responses to member questions few and far between and 2) the actual person making the recommendation often doesn't have a personal position = no real conviction. Once you are subscribed, you are in for the year (at least) so be careful if you aren't sure...

Their customer service is great

Their customer service is great. Replying back within hours.. Though on the phone line was impossible to reach anybody. My problem was solved within a day.
I have used the Share Advisor Service and I can say just that, you should be patient with the result. It takes time to see good results. And yes, some recommendations might turn negative, but there is no 100% guarantee on nothing in this world and it is completely normal a part of your investitions to be unprofitable.
I would recommend their services, they do give a good information and direction. However you as an Investor should do at least a bit extra due diligence, before investing huge amount of money. Do not forget that every person has their own vision of what could be profitable or not, so make sure you buy shares of companies, which align to your own vision.

A propaganda machine.

A propaganda machine.
They pretty much churn out subpar articles on nearly every angle of the market. Great if you love guzzling content, bad if you want good quality content. Decent site interface but so many conflicts of interest if you look at their sponsors...

Clueless Misinformation Spreaders

They spread misinformation on GameStop and AMC DAILY!!! How there is no fact checking on the tripe they post is ridiculous. There is no doubt they have affiliations to large hedge funds who use 'tips' to back their own agendas and gains. I witnessed two back to back posts of them saying to stay as far from GameStop as possible and then immediately say it's a good investment. They really do make this up as they go along.
