Awful

We had a very disappointing experience with Forefront Property throughout our tenancy.

Before moving in during 2023, we were told by the agency that we could decorate and improve the property prior to agreeing the tenancy. Based on this, we spent thousands of pounds making improvements to the home. It later became clear that the landlord had not been informed of these arrangements and had received a different tenancy agreement to the one sent to us. Our version included the agreed improvements, while the landlord’s apparently did not.

Once the landlord became aware, they drove to inspect the property and were actually happy with the work carried out.

We originally signed a two-year tenancy, yet after the first year we were unexpectedly asked to renew the agreement again. We remained in the property until 2026, but when we gave notice to leave, Forefront attempted to refuse our notice and used intimidating legal language which we later discovered was incorrect. We stood by our original end date.

The agency also attempted to withhold our deposit unfairly. We had to go through a long dispute process with the DPS, but the deposit was eventually returned to us in full.

To make matters worse, Forefront also provided incorrect tenancy information to the energy provider claiming we had moved into the property before our tenancy had even started.

Overall, our experience was stressful, poorly managed, and lacking transparency. I would strongly recommend that tenants ensure all agreements are confirmed clearly in writing and independently verified.
