Disappointing quality control on the Porsche 911 Boxer Engine kit
I purchased the Porsche 911 Boxer Engine model kit (290-part set) and while the concept is fantastic, the quality control is seriously lacking for the price.
Issues I encountered:
1. Warped valve guide rail - arrived significantly warped from the packaging, making it impossible to seat flat. Attempting to correct it with warm water made it worse.
2. Missing part - Part #74 (generator shaft bushing) was simply not included in the kit.
3. Known gear tolerance issues - the face plate gear has essentially zero clearance, a widely reported problem that Franzis is aware of but has not addressed.
I have contacted Franzis support but have yet to receive a response. For a premium-priced kit marketed to serious hobbyists, this level of quality control is unacceptable. I had to improvise workarounds just to continue the build.
The kit concept and design are genuinely impressive - hence 2 stars rather than 1. But Franzis needs to significantly improve their parts inspection and customer support response times.

My 23yr old daughter bought me a Porsche 911 advent calendar at a cost of over £50. A glossy brochure, but the car itself was just 4-6 pieces and the rest of the 24 were trivia such as post-its, a magnet, a cardboard matchbox, sticky notes "to record your thoughts and memories" 🤨. One of the key items (sound box) was missing so I emailed Franzis immediately but 4 weeks later still no replacement. Best avoided.

Built the ford mustang motor v-8 engine, after about 1 month of operation, the timing belt stretched and jumped time, causing the electric motor gearbox to bind and strip out a poorly made gear, this display kit barely had any run time on it at all. No way to contact the manufacturer for replacement parts, this kit was expensive, I expected much better

The software is ok, but they get 1 star as I used their contact us form a month ago to report multiple SPAM emails, not from Franzis, to an unique email address that was used only for them a few years ago. That usually means a data leak or they sold my details, but no response means this review and a GDPR compliant.

Really nice program, like it a lot. Helps me work faster.

I have learned about Franzis trough CUT OUT 4 and HDR 3 elements, which I bought from Ashampoo. So when i was offered PDF Pro direct from Franzis. I knew it had to be ok! And I am not disapointet!
