Repeatedly and deliberately disconnected by Free

After many years as a Free customer, I've just discovered that my recent 3 (and counting) outages in the last few weeks were the result of Free themselves.

The most recent technician to 'fix' the problem today
told me that there are 7 subscribers connected to a junction box with capacity for six.

They initially disconnected my line to add a new subscriber. Since then we've been playing musical chairs.
The other subscriber calls them and a technician comes and disconnects me.
I call and a technician comes and disconnects them. Repeat ad infinitum.

And every time, somebody has to be home to meet the technician.

No solution proposed other than to continue like that until they EVENTUALLY add more capacity. No timeline for that.

Unbelievable!

Home wifi has been cut since 3 months…

Home wifi has been cut since 3 months now.
I was told the service would be restored after 72 hours, but it's been over 72 DAYS! Every time support tells me they will get back to me when they have more information, three months later, NOTHING.

Horrible, never again

Horrible, I ordered a plan for 8 euro with 20gb 4g internet and unlimited calls and messages in EU. At first no one mentioned that i will have to pay 10 euro extra for enabling "EU service" and after that, although my account info says that i have unlimited calls to EU left, after 50min of calls, I got a extra 12 euro charge for overuse of the product which i already payed for. Unacceptable, go to hell.

AVOID FREE AT ALL COSTS OR THEY WILL COST YOU DEARLY!

I've had 5 different lines with Free France over 10 years and I've cancelled all of them properly over the years. Free quietly continued debiting my account for over 300 EUR and now they have the gall to charge me "recovery fees" to finally get rid of them, YEARS after cancelling my lines.

Useless and unaccountable

Useless and unaccountable. Purchased a reconditioned iPhone on 2 November 2024. Intended use as a local phone while visiting France which we do often. Purchased at Free Rue de Rennes. Sales person began charging the phone but said it would take time. So we agreed to charge at home. Charge would not get beyond 20% and then discharged very fast. Battery incompatible with Apple IPhone. Took back to Free who said that we had to address with SAV. SAV took weeks to get back to us and then told us we should address the issue at the Free shop. We went there today (February 4 2025) and once again they were unable to help. Said we needed to go back to SAV which we did with no response nor resolution. Paid €480 for IPhone 12 and it’s never worked !! Ended up at Apple to change battery which they are not sure they can. If they are able to it will be another €100. What kind of company does business this way!? Free is certainly not « free ».

They are terrible

They are terrible. Suggestion. Go to Orange instead, maybe ?
We waited 5 weeks to get the box. The people who services the stores selling Free are wonderful. But the wonderful stops there. 5 weeks. The delivery company falsely claimed they had been here 3 times. No one never showed. We got the service people to come to install the cable BUT still no box or router? When the router and the box finally arrived the box was a reused box and was constantly given off a loud squiring sound. Free admitted it was a faulty box and that we could take it to a location downtown to exchange with a new box. When we got to the store Free had picked it was closed for the next 6 days.
It gets worse….
When we finally got the equipments and all set up the internet keeps failing.
Watching a movie the internet shut down all by itself 5 to 6 times through any movie we wanted to see. You have to go to unplug the box and plug it back in every time to get it to work again only to do the whole process over again after a few minutes.
Worse service and internet we have ever encountered…..

They are terrible

They are terrible. Don't silly to register with them, either phone or internet. They never let you quit. They annoy you to die and charge your money even you don't use. They have no option to quit. Don't fall in this horrible service.

Customer service

I think I'll appoint the lovely young man working at the Freeshop in Carrefour/Balaruc as my personal advisor for everything concerning the telecommunications. So far, he's helped me set up my client account, checked the condition of my 11 year-old server for a replacement and explained to me the reason for an extra charge of 20e on my mobile. I would like to congratulate Free for having a fluent English speaker on your staff. It gives Free an image of a modern progressive company that is aware of its growing multi-national clientele.

Horrible staff

Horrible staff. Neither they understand nor they care. Its been a month that there is no connection transfer which is the easy job but we continue to pay for this month. Each instance is a great pain with no progress.

Crap

Crap. I called to find out why my mobile signal is bad and data access is random.
I am asked to enter loads of info and after a couple of exchanges they transfer to technical support with a ticket number. All this done via Whatsapp btw.
Two weeks later I call for an update. Please enter all the info already entered on the ticket! I ask why and they say it is to identify me (why the ticket?)
Two weeks later, still silence and Whatsapp says 'this business is now working with other companies to manage this chat'

Useless

Watch your bank account…

This is yet another company that once it has access to your bank account does not want to relinquish that access.
My phone and internet was about three months out of contract when I cancelled the subscription on the site. There was no response or acknowledgement, then next thing that I know is that Free is trying to take money from my bank account. I then cancelled by email still no response or acknowledgement. Free cannot find time to respond but have no problem trying to take your money.
I then sent a registered letter cancelling and included the French equivalent of a subject access request. It is a legal requirement for Free to respond. Did Free respond like they are legally rewuired to do, well that’s a definite NO. I am of the impression that Free like many corporations believe that they do not have to adhere to the law.
So Free you now have the opportunity to explain here on a public forum why you feel that you do not have to obey laws and what gives you the right to continue to take money from an account after cancellation

Two mobile 5G lines--no data

I ordered two mobile lines for use in Bordeaux. It is possible that there are some areas where this works, but while phone worked, data was non-existent in the Chartrons area. Bouygues was a much better experience for setting up and data speed is fantastic.
