Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 31 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many visitors frequently complained about dirty facilities, noting that changing rooms, showers, and pools severely lacked proper cleanliness and maintenance. Consumers also mentioned that gym equipment was outdated and broken, while membership prices felt far too high for the poor quality provided. Though some customers faced major issues, a few visitors experienced positive moments, finding the reception and cafe staff to be exceptionally friendly and helpful during their daily visits. Some people also noted that individual teachers were genuinely lovely and caring towards children during swimming lessons.

Awful service

Awful service, never sign up to be a member! You will continue to be charged after you cancel and will never be able to book in, there is no way you will be able to go anymore than 5 times a month unless you are able to go any time of day. They NEVER pick up the phone and the online system does not work. There is no way of cancelling your membership except over the phone so you will continue to be charged for a service that you cannot use.

Poor

Poor. "Because of Covid", spa services are closed, cant take my child to pool, boiler is perennially "broken down" and water cold. Men cleaner in female changing room with no warning signs. Absolutely dreadful! I complained requesting my money back after paying upfront 3 months, and having done 1 month. The level of service is very poor. I would give no stars if I could.

Unless you are a member of a swimming…

Unless you are a member of a swimming club or unemployed you are not welcome to swim during this time .In FOUR local swimming pools run by this company ONLY people who are fir enough to belong to a swimming club have been allocated swimming times other than between 9 and 2 pm when those that work are unable to use the facilities TOTAL discrimination

Personal Service

St John's Freedom Leisure in Worcester.

I received a phonecall on Monday to let me know that as the centre will be closed due to the Covid19 shut down, no membership will be taken. Having a phonecall rather than an email was so much more personal. I also received an email and included in it is a link to online fitness classes for free.

BAD-Woking Freedom Leisure management

10/3/2020
This is my third posting on this site to continue my complaint against Woking Freedom Leisure Centre.
Woking Freedom Leisure management of this Council and therefore, precious resource is owned by us Rate Payers
Every year, I buy a years membership to the gym and this morning i went there for my usual workout and down into Heatwaves as usual.
The update is that THERE WAS NO HEATING AGAIN IN THE WHOLE PLACE, BOTH SAUNAS WERE STILL OUT OF ACTION, THE JACUZZI WAS OUT OF ACTION AGAIN AND THE SHOWERS WERE COLD ONCE MORE.
Result, I had to have a cold shower as I was going on somewhere, in a really uncomfortable place with no opportunity to use the facilities. This in winter?
Just how much longer must we, the paying public of OUR facility, be deprived of all the benefits, and be charged for the failure of the management company, Freedom Leisure to operate the facility properly.
Time Woking Council sacked them and took back control.
I feel so sorry for the reception staff who still have to face the public and be expected to present apologies on behalf of their paymasters, miserly Freedom Leisure !

4/3/2020 - Woking Freedom Leisure Centre
I posted the article under the line yesterday.
OMG. Woking Freedom Leisure just got worse.
You couldn't make it up.
I went to the gym at 6.45 this morning and after my usual workout, I went downstairs to the Heat Waves to find out....
in addition to the showers being only lukewarm, the Heat Waves changing rooms were cold, both Saunas were still not working and the jacuzzi was still out of action BUT THE STEAM ROOM WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF ACTION AS WELL.
I FEEL SO SORRY FOR THE POOR RECEPTION STAFF, WHO ARE SO FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. I bet there is hardly a day that goes past these days where the poor staff have to put up with all sorts of abuse from the customers, who complain about this constant failure of Management to update and get facilities fully and reliably working, and not just using a sticking plaster approach.
I guess my next step is to moan to Woking Borough Council who outsource this precious public facility to an incompetent Private Company, at ratepayers cost and dissatisfaction.

3/3/2020 - COLD SHOWERS, NO SAUNAS, NO STEAM ROOM, NO JACUZZ
I have been going to The Pool since it opened in the centre of Woking AND as soon as the Gym opened, I was one of the first in. Over the years I have never, ever complained BUT what the hell has gone wrong.
With increasing regularity in the last few years, I and my fellow customers of yours have has to put up with COLD SHOWERS, NO SAUNAS, NO STEAM ROOM, NO JACUZZI AND BROKEN LOCKS. For the last few months, there has been no days where ALL of these facilities have been functioning at the same time. In my yearly membership, I pay for HOT SHOWERS, SAUNAS, STEAM ROOM and a JACUZZI.
This week, following on from the last few disastrous weeks of broken facilities, the showers were only luke warm, the Heat Waves rooms were COLD, both Saunas were not working and the jacuzzi was still out of action.
I would like management tell me WHEN ALL of these facilities will be replaced and working. Failing that, I can't see the point of continuing with my membership and I would like some sort of compensation for your inaction in not supplying us, your customers, with all the facilities that I/we have paid for.
And they know how everyone is fed up with this establishment.

I’ve been a member of Ashbourne gym for…Ashbourne leisure facilities TERRIBLE

I’ve been a member of Ashbourne gym for >12 months and in that short time, even though my subscription has increased, the quality of the facility is 1980s and awful. I have taken pictures of gents toilets with damp and sink unit cover falling off walls, the changing rooms with cubicle partitions ready to fall down, leaks and generally a dirty place to be. I know where the money gets spent though...the salaries of the young guys that work here who wander around in groups of twos & threes laughing and never EVER doing any bloody work.
Asa regular daily user, I come in here most days during the week and there are more staff then users sometimes.
This place needs cash spent and a culture change. It’s 2020 not 1980!

If there was an alternative within reasonable distance I’d drop this place like a bad habit.

Fraudulent Payment Taken

Took £56 from my bank account and ive never set foot in one of their gyms or visited their website and have no intension of ever joining. Clearly this company doesnt do the proper checks when taking new members bank details. Luckily i contacted my bank who have refunded this fraudulent transaction. Not 100% their fault however their payment systems clearly lack efficient security for their members (or non members in this case)

Terrible customer services

I have just tried filing a formal complaint about Summerfield leisure in Hastings. A staff member with the name badge 'Lynn' was very rude when I asked if the pool was open. She said that I should already have a timetable because I go there all the time. She was Kurt and very unhelpful, raising her voice at my friend in a very rude way. At no point were we upset about the pool being closed as we were only passing and called in on the off chance. I have been to this centre only once this year and didn't think this warranted keeping a timetable. I won't be using the facility again as this is not the first time this particular member of staff has been rude. I found the complaints procedure to be wholly lacking and I find it very unhelpful that I cannot contact Freedom Leisure head office without sending a letter by post.

Poor customer service

Terrible leisure company
I’ve messaged twice regarding swimming lessons and they haven’t the decency to reply
Found out from other people in our town Stafford that this is normal, as they care very little for customer service

where you matter!that logo is a joke.

I
paid an annual fee at my local centre gym and asked them to turn down gangster rap music on heart radio from 7am to 8am when i use it,i was told by the manager Adam Briginshaw that i would have to ask each individual staff member every morning ,he obviously enjoys humiliating customers on a daily basis.I asked for a refund of my outstanding balance and he refused quoting terms and conditions stating it was the discretion of the manager and he did not want to with no reason given.huge amounts of taxpayers money is going to this terrible company ,I am not surprised it has a 67%bad review rate.

Phone line POOR

I tried calling repeatedly on April 8th 2018 to your Woking branch and each time I got through to an answer machine. I left multiple messages for a call back. No one called all day. Does no one care anymore? Do customers not matter? Very disappointed
