Considering 234 reviews, most reviewers were ultimately unhappy with their overall service experience. Consumers frequently complained about extremely long telephone wait times, poor communication, and unhelpful support teams when trying to resolve unexpected billing charges or sudden network problems. People also experienced deeply unreliable mobile coverage, noting that cellular signals constantly dropped outside major urban areas and inside residential buildings. Some reviewers were happy with the friendly in-store staff who provided pleasant and efficient assistance during their visits. A few other people also felt that certain dedicated customer support agents went above and beyond to successfully solve complex account and plan issues.

Gave 1 star as I couldn't leave 0

Gave 1 star as I couldn't leave 0. Absolutely horrible experience. The salesperson who "set up" my mobile plans and internet was supposed to set up 2 mobile lines and waive both SIM card fees. He set up three lines and activated two of them. One of the lines he activated was not even a phone number I had. When my bill came, the Fee wasn't waived. I spent 4+ hours on hold trying to call their customer service. He "set up" my wifi. After I paid a 100$ fee to set it up, I found out later that they don't even service my area. Not to mention, for a week, I didn't even have service on my phone as the e-SIMs they installed didn't work. I had to spend 20$ for brand new SIM cards and go to Best Buy 4 times, where the worker had a hard time dealing with Freedom employees through their text chat. Just to get the service to work. Oh, and I had to ask Freedom to correct the spelling of my name on my account 3 times before they did because they couldn't even spell my name right. This caused verification problems every time I talked to them. I drove over an hour to their closest location to try and get the issues rectified, and the sales representative told me there was nothing they could do. And then after spending an outrageous amount of time on hold asking for account cancellation and refund of all the money I spent, they told me they couldn't refund me or the credit on my account. While on the phone, the sales representative I had to argue to speak to a supervisor, while being on hold for 2 hours, being transferred, they hung up on me before they even cancelled my account. Oh, and they aren't even cheaper. I switched to another provider who is the same price, for more data and better wifi and better customer service. Absolutely mind-blowingly horrible experience. Freedom, if you're seeing this, give me my damn refund!

Dishonest pricing.

Dishonest pricing.
In order to get the advertised price, I’ve been told I must redeem a promotional code after a sign up for a three months minimum. So it seems that I have to pay $64 a month rather than the $59 a month advertised price and maybe one day if I’m lucky I will get to pay $59.

Another issue is with the $45 activation fee. The advertisement indicates that the $45 activation fee will be waive. But customer service seems completely incapable of achieving this seemingly the simple task.

I have been working with freedom mobile customer service for several days and they still have not been able to wave this $45 activation fee

Worst customer service ever!!!!!!!!

Worst customer service ever!!!!!!!!
They are forcing me to change my internet router, and after choosing the plan and everything, I can't continue because my address and name are incorrect (which is NOT). I can't even get the option to change what's wrong.
If there were an option to put ZERO stars here, it would be better

WhatsApp doesn’t work if you are overseas what a joke. Neither does this line work at wal mart or not even in front of my own house. Do better.

Got ROAM BEYOND, used it for 3 months in England, Italy and India. Very easy to renew
It worked flawlessly. I always had service soon after I arrived in a new country and had service everywhere it could be reasonably expected
Got frequent messages from Freedom confirming roaming in the new country

No improvement time, a little bit to late.

No improvement time! 1.5 hrs on the phone. Wasting my precious time..
I haven't touched Rogers for the past 35 yrs.
Fido also because belongs to Rogers.
I just changed to different provider from freedom due BAD service and still charging me!!

Avoid freedom at any cust.
One the manager (garbage) has the balls to tell me I'm MAKING GOOD MONEY TO MAKE SURE I SERVE YOU PROPERLY..
"DID nothing to help my situation". I terminated without even knowing I would get better discount plus better package across the mall.
Shop around .
Please shop around!!

Don't Sign Up, You WILL Regret It.

Freedom had a "failed payment" on my account, apparently twice (impossible, we're on overdraft) and promptly turned off autopay with zero communication about it. Then, I couldn't log in to make a payment because the site told me the PIN wasn't correct. Reset it, same issue. Three support agents ignored this completely and just kept trying to talk about the overdue balance.

It gets worse. Then, they give me ZERO SMS or email communication about needing to return my device (trade-in) and when I asked about this, they said it was too late (like 2 months later on this if that) and I'd have to pay the device off. So, I went from owing $50 to over $500 and they gave me ZERO exceptions despite them making over $1500 on me.

When I mentioned the zero communication, the support staff accused me of deleting my text messages. I work in support, I know that systems make mistakes all the time, that emails bounce, etc. I also know that you can often make exceptions for loyal customers.

I then had a "follow up" where the agent proceeded to repeat the notes on my file at me and then tell me there was nothing to be done.

Also, their "retention" department is nonexistent. The lady just kept repeating that they can do nothing for me.

Long story short, there's a reason this company is rated so poorly, and they'll be losing a loyal customer of over two years.

Side note: a coworker of mine had a similar situation with Fido and their retention department absolutely made an exception so I know what they said was either misinformed, or their company policies are atrocious. And they have an even WORSE rating here!

I will be switching to my wife's provider immediately and selling my phone. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Quantity will never compare to quality. No matter what deals Freedom mobile has to offer their customer care services are trash. They do not provide fast results to any situation.

Freedom mobile customer care team lacks basic comprehension skills, no critical thinking skills and for better words no problem solving skills. Dont be fooled by any of the low prices for devices or discounted offers. The services will never be worth it.

I live in British Columbia

I live in British Columbia. I switched to Freedom for the out of country service option. I have had great service at home. I was suspect as to how it would work when I travelled. I am just finishing up a four week trip in Japan. I travelled all over Japan and everywhere I went I had great service. Both data and the ability to call home with no extra charges or hassle. I am really happy with the Freedom plan and would recommend Freedom mobile for both domestic use and especially if you like to travel out of country.

Dishonest, illegal activities

I was a Freedom Mobile customer years ago and cancelled my account back in July 2020. Out of nowhere, in 2025, Freedom suddenly reported a so-called “unpaid balance” from five years ago to collections, with zero prior notice or communication.

When I reached out, they admitted the charge was from 2020 and even apologized that “no one told me” about it when I cancelled. Despite this, they still allowed a five year old, time-barred charge to be placed with a collection agency and reported as if it were new.

This is completely misleading, damaging, and not compliant with Ontario’s Limitations Act or credit reporting standards. Re-aging old accounts to make them appear recent is unethical and harms consumers credit unfairly.

I am in the process of disputing the item with Equifax and TransUnion, but Freedom Mobile should not be allowed to operate this way. If you ever cancel with them, get everything in writing. Their lack of communication and accountability can come back years later.

misleading website and sneaky billing behaviour. Not Trustworthy I think

on signing up for a mobility account that include two iphones and two apple watches I was told the the activation fee of $45 would be waived if I signed up my watches online. The website does say that, but when I went to pursue the little number 18 by that statement it said that this fee is not waived for aple watches. Their website is misleading and bordering on false advertising. In addition I was told that one of my two iphones activation fees would be waived. When I inquired about the fees showing up on my bill I was told that they would keep the $45 fee and it would be refunded on the 3rd bill I recieve? I gave no permission for them to keep my money for 3 months, my understanding was I wouldnt be charged for the second iphone activation fee.

Customer service sucks

Customer service sucks. I got the service from Freedom but they don’t have my name under their client list anymore and they say Rogers is managing the services, when I call Rogers they say I am Freedom customer. What a mess! Their live chat takes hours that someone response then when someone text you if you don’t text back in 20 seconds they close the chat. Not recommended at all

Horrible Internet Service

One word - Horrible!
Absolute I requested home internet, they got my money, then because of where I live they said they can’t install it and money will be refunded immediately or 5 business days. 5 days pass, no money, calling customer service, poor help, rude and angry behaviour whereas I should be angry cause now they send me to my bank saying we don’t see the transaction so we can’t do anything. But where did that money go? You took it and now you’re saying it’s canceled. I speak to my bank and confirm money was taken, nothing in return. I reach out again, now they tell me I need to ask my bank to raise charge back request. What on earth is that? Even my bank personnel got surprised. All for $27. Yes All for simple refund of $27. But ended up being so much stress and anxiety. My phone is also with them, no issues. But you guys stick with phone service. Don’t go over your head cause it is a MESS.
Now I have to wait 10 to 20 business days. This should have been handled by you. Not my bank.

Terrible customer service

I ordered a new iphone 17 Pro Max from their online site, phoned in and put an order together. The contact sent me a Docusign contract for review, but it was in error, had the wrong plan and a few incorrect options. I pointed this out, and he said he'd have it fixed and resent in 24 hrs. I never received another contract, but instead received the actual phone 2 days later! I went online and it showed the incorrect billing, and I had not signed a contract yet. I went to the store, as they said I would have to get them to make the changes. The store could not make any changes, and said I would have to ship it back. So I shipped it back, they received it in 2 days, that was 3 weeks ago. Every time I call they need another week to make sure the phone is good, and they can cancel the contract then. Continuous stalling! Incredibly frustrating, I have told them I will cancel the order completely, and am going to cancel EVERYTHING with Freedom, TERRIBLE support and service, one of the worst!!! And thats saying something, as they are all equally bad in Canada.
