Just as easy and turbotax and far less pushes for upsales during proccess. Sucks you have to pay for state really but 14.99 isnt that crazy.

Easy to understand with helpful prompts (?) and support for a small fee if needed. It took me 3 hours to file though I had a number of 1099s - self employed.

this place is horrible. i got lost out on $400 tax return. turbotax said what i should actually get back.

I filed tax yesterday and i just checked today my account number and it’s totally changed automatically they change your account number to Green Dot bank

I normally have used T-Tax for years. Due to price increases I bought HR Block due to it being cheap. Big mistake, Would import almost nothing, and would not work for Wealth Front. I manually imported the summary, and imported all other needed forms. And less then $15 to file the state return. Easy peasy! I will definitely use next year!

I have been using free tax usa for about 3 years. I left HR Block for wrongful charges. I did not know that I have been paying $40 to have MY MONEY deposited into my account. I was told I agreed to it and they try to be upfront on costs. Those are lies! Yes it is free to file federal but it costs for state taxes if you have them. However, I thought all this time that I was receiving my money from the State and IRS. NO! It goes to some 3rd party account then they charge us $40 to release our funds!!! If anyone knows about a class action lawsuit against them, please let me know! I have to pay $40 twice because I got state and federal taxes. It is to the point where I will walk my handwritten tax forms to the IRS in my region than dealing with shysters who take people's money for no reason. THERE HAS TO BE LAWS AGAINST THIS. IT IS PREDATORY. WE HAVE TO GET THE WORD OUT AGAINST THESE "TAX PROFESSIONALS."

be careful, my sister thinks she got hacked today using their software, it asked for an update to her address and showed MY email address!! WTF?? How the hell could that happen? Those criminal, low-life pond scum hackers are busy this time of year!

This company makes tax time so less stressful. Website is easy to use and walks you through every step to make sure you get every cent back you deserve. Filed with them multiple years and never once had a issue!

I love FreeTaxUSA! It's very easy to use and they let you know the same day if it's been rejected or not. This is my favorite free tax service! Also, to do a state return they charge a small fee that can be subtracted directly from the return, so no money out of pocket! Yay!

First time filing with them. Found this platform thru the IRS.gov webpage. It was really easy to use, no hassle questions like TurboTax has, constantly prompting you to choose a more expensive plan. Thorough, intuitive and efficient. Cheaper option to TT.

I've used them for 13+ years and I've never had an issue. Easy to use, reliable, got my refund as expected. Customer support is also pretty responsive.

After wasting hours on filling out information I am now unable to login.

They use bots to pretend to be people and flood Internet forums like Reddit hyping up their product

I submitted returns, they were accepted within 0-2 days both federal and state. It was completely free, including both federal and state. Both of them had a ton of schedules & credits, and they were still all completely free. I didn't pay a single cent.

I love that I can save all my schedules too, and they're already filled out as if I did it myself. I like to see the breakdown of how the numbers were calculated.

Way better than TurboTax. I saved $200 filing this year. I'm never going back. It would be insane to not use freetaxusa.

I was slightly skeptical because it's free and I'd never used it, but both returns were accepted in 1-2 days and I already received the state refund to direct deposit. Looks perfect. :)

My first year using FreeTaxUsa as I was tired of turbo being overpriced continuing to charge for a full program each year rather than just new forms/update. FreeTaxUsa was overall easy to use, but, as a 1099 freelancer, I won't use it again since their estimated tax section doesn't seem to account for penalties throughout the year like Turbo always did.. which ended up getting me a $700 dollar penalty that I have never had in 20 some years of being a freelancer and filing taxes. This was after having multiple experts review my (relatively simple) taxes and say they were fine with no issues. To top this off, chatting online with reps (which is nice) sort of became a run around with no one taking responsibility or understanding the issue when I got the letter from the IRS and went through it with them. This was complicated by the fact that they don't have a way of receiving an image of the letter the IRS sent you due to the problem.
Edit: Although when in chat with a pro, you can see the buttons for adding attachments, it doesn't actually work. Tried to attach the IRS letter during chats several times, with several formats (pdf, jpg, text file) and it just doesn't work.. you can see the attachment icons, but, they aren't accessible. I primarily use Chrome, but also checked in another browser and had the same issue. Since I was on with an agent while doing this each time, I asked if they had a company email I could send attachments to.. they didn't, so attempts at describing the issue were limited to my typed description, which is good but would have been clearer if the agents could see the actual pages.

I filled out a tax return on another platform and wanted to charge me $116 for a simple no frills 1040! No deductions. Nothing. I found FreeTaxUSA and filled out the identical information and was charged $14.99 for the state return. My refund was identical to the other product. I received a notice right away that both returns were accepted by the IRS and my state. You now have a new customer!

While they list the ability to process a Sch K-1 (Form 1065) it's limited. For example if box 20 has a AA or AG code. Also some codes required additional forms to be filed which they can not handle. In my case they presented me the IRS PDF for and IRS instructions. You will not be able to efile your return when this happens. I had to jump back to my H&R software to knock out my tax return. Excluding my K-1 both FreeTaxUSA and H&R showed the same results on due/refund. I do like the ability to jump directly to a form with FreeTaxUSA.

worst software. Worst customer support, they don't how to frame good succinct replies. Every year there is some or the other issues with software. It does not have required alerts and due to which I had to amend my returns once again. It is a good business for them as it keeps earning them filing fees.

This is what it says on the IRS website. Somewhere there is a disconnect between FreeTaxUSA and the rest of the online world. FreeTaxUSA you might want to talk to your Marketing Department about this and either make the correct changes so tax payers aren't mislead, honor the deal they came to your website to redeem until they do so. I could see if only one person said they were told that it would be free, maybe it was a mistake but when multiple people are saying that it was supposed to be free and then you want to hold their tax forms hostage basically until they pay isn't a business practice I'd ever want consider. Its not right. Anwyays, see below:
