Been using for years. Easy to use. Does federal return for free and only charges $15 for state

RESPONSE TO FREE TAX USA:
I orginally followed the link on the IRS website, that's how I knew that the IRS listed your product as free.

FreeTaxUSA website says state return is free if AGI less than $45,000, but it lies. My AGI is $42,000 and it's telling me I have to pay $15 to file state.

Had to request 2 separate refunds for tax return preparations; 1 went smoothly & had to dispute other charge as they would not refund. Many other choices available...

Do not use they lie and them deppsit refund in account in ur name and them u screewed

I love this company. I changed to them when Intuit started a bait and switch and wanted to raise my rates again. Now I don't have to pay a penny and I get all I need.

It takes a little getting used to, as all new programs do, and is not entirely as easy to navigate as Turbo Tax, but it's free and effective with no underhanded games.

Fantastic Tax Filing Experience!

I'm been using FreeTaxUSA for years, and they are fantastic! As my tax accounting has gone from simple W2 filings, to Married, Multiple Small Business filings, they have made it easy for me to correctly understand and file my taxes.

The site is very user-friendly, and also has lots of helpful information links when you want to learn more about the tax laws and definitions. It's helped educate me from barely knowledgeable with tax knowledge to highly saavy.

Their support team is fantastic. If you have more advanced tax questions or situations, their team (and especially the Pro Support team) is able to provide quick and easy-to-understand professional guidance.

The one gotcha is, even though it's got "Free" in the name, you will definitely want to purchase some of the upsells. At the very least, you will want to pay for State Tax filing, so it won't quite be free. Go in expecting to pay something, although far less than hiring a tax professional.

Scam. Not free. Filed for my incarcerated parent, and they charged him a lot of fees for a tax return that was literally just three blanks filled in. Beyond that, it won't let me unsub from the stupid emails. I've tried and tried. Now I can't deleted the account either. Beyond stupid.

Absolutely no complaints, the service works flawlessly. Refunds go into your bank account (no idea what some people are talking about when they say the company took their money, and bear in mind sometimes the IRS doesn't agree with your filing and gives you back as much as you expect). For lower income levels, IRS filing is free (I was about to waste $70 or so with TurboTax and instead spent 30 minutes here reentering the data and got it for free), state filings cost $15 or so. And the best value is that for $8 you can access their advisers through live chat as often as you want with as many questions as you may have. No-one likes doing taxes but these guys make it quick and easy.

First time using and will use again. Retired with side work to make ends meet. Tried H R block but was much harder to use and I ended up deleting the account after I was finally done. It was going to have cost quite a bit more and freetax program saved well over 100. in fees. They also got me a higher savings on taxes because of the difficulty in using h r blocks site. Will use them again as they were great for my situation of social security, small retirement income and small amount of side jobs.

Really good free service for most tax situations. Sometimes not the best for more complex situations, but that's what professional accountants are for.

I used freetaxusa this year my federal refund amount was 1453.00.if they advertise free for federal why does my direct deposit say 1398.00 somebody took 55 dollars off the top. Would really like to know why? Don't use them they are liars. They stole 55 bucks from me and it ain't right!!

I have use FreetaxUSA for the past two years and plan to do so again. I have had not complaints whatsoever. This service is free if you meet the free requirements. They tell you that up front. There will always be those who complain because they had issues. This website is Not a scam website. If you have special needs, then perhaps you should use another service that charges a lot more money.

filled out and gave them all information, then get error on a file/field they did not even have? now can not log back into account, Just a suspected fraud company, but you do as you risk. is giving our information to a RIP off company worth the risk?

Their web site gives you an error if you try to use a "foreign" e-mail address. There's simply no such thing, anyone can have an e-mail address using any top-level domain (TLD).

Their support told me, "Unfortunately, we do not support foreign addresses, including email addresses."

This incompetence makes me wonder how good their product actually is. No other tax service (HR Block, TurboTax, etc) bans "foreign" (again, no such thing) e-mail addresses.

Very good experience with FreeTaxUSA. It was fast and very easy to understand. Had been using Turbo Tax but they have gotten expensive and FreeTaxUSA was just as easy if not easier to use. I only have Social Security and a small amount of investment gains/losses. It took less than and hour and about 20 min or less to get the email that my return was accepted by the IRS. I was happy to see that they had the investment forms. Some of the free ones don't. Did not need to file a state return - Florida doesn't have income tax.

Ok, absolutely free Federal e-file and a reasonable price for the state e-file. I completed my taxes on another site and they matched exactly with FreeTaxUSA. $80 vs $15. No comparison.

FreeTaxUSA charges extra fees after filing, then takes the entire refund after having it deposited in their account. The customer service is beyond useless and they just blame their bank and use that excuse to never give your refund. They're nothing more than a scam.

I established an account with FreeTaxUSA just to check out the service, and decide if I wanted to switch from my current provider. I didn't. NOW, I can't delete the account, which in my opinion is COMPLETE BUNK in the age of rampant cybercrime. It's simple - one button, I CHOSE TO DELETE MY ACCOUNT WITH FreeTaxUSA. I don't want an account that I don't plan to use left open.
