Basement TV for gullible advertisers and tolerant audiences

Lets face it - Freeview is nothing but a commercial ad platform, attempting to use cheap, regurgitated old content and 'reality TV' dysfunctionals to make it sufficiently palatable to suggestible audiences. Consider that about a third of your TV's service life and running cost primarily serves as a big ad screen in your lounge, that you're paying for - not to mention carbon footprint.

Now as with the internet ad model, revenues come from advertisers that believe their ads actually create more revenues than the cost of advertising on the Freeview platform. They pursuade themselves that their ads are 'interesting' and 'engaging', but not from where I'm sitting. Even commercial radio promotes ads to 'Get ahead of the competition', but everyone wants that, and quality entertainment is the inevitable fall-out.

Should there be anything at-all worth watching now, I just record it and jump across the ad breaks and 'Celebrity News' promotionals, or sickening 'Bad Skin Clinic' previews and '600lb Sisters' when I'm sat down to eat during prime time.

Most people I know do this now. It's the only way that it's possible to watch anything on the platform without wanting to vomit, or forgetting where you were before every lengthy intrusive ad break, further saving ~30% on TV service life and running costs.

The bottom line is that Freeview will always be the way it is. Long-gone are the days of quality TV (and reasonable infrequent 2-minute quality ad breaks), with all channels clamouring to be cheaper to advertisers in a spiralling degeneration of TV... "Entertainment".

For months now Freeview has been rubbish- intermittently weak or no signal !!! All the money that they ask us to pay and complete disregard for their viewers!!! Thinking about getting rid of TV altogether because of this !

Have had nothing but problems in the last 4 months. Pixellating, missing channels, poor sound. Have had my tv for 18 months & never yet had a message to retune. My old tv (same brand) regularly flashed up a message to retune. Now if I retune in an attempt to get a channel to watch I get the message check your antenna! No check your useless transmitters

Excellent

Excellent! Love the catch up, search and great films on Walter Presents. I don't need any other Freeview channels. So impressed 😂 The stars are only for channel 4 Freeview and zero for the itv hub. Appallingly bad!

Garbage.

If I could give this awful service a lower rating I would.
It is nothing but repeats and total garbage.
If you are lucky enough to find something that you like it is unwatchable because the picture and sound are gone.
One programme I do enjoy starts at 19.00 and by 19.30 it has completely gone, I could almost set my watch to it.
The fools that are paying to advertise their companies on this attrocious service should withdraw and send this garbage company and all of owners into bankrupcy, and that includes the BBC.
Whoever you all are you should be ashamed, but I doubt that will be the case when you are raking in millions for nothing.

Poor programs on grainy low resolution images

I pay a license TV but mainly watch Prime or Netflix. Freeview has 2 or 3 HD channels in the era of digital and 8K resolution TVs. It sounds like a joke, crappy programs in a grainy poor image that resembles de 70's.

Channels disappear, discrimination

Channels disappearing and the better channels only available to people who can afford new televisions and software. Discrimination against certain members of society. Shame on you.

Freeview is NOT FIT for purpose

Freeview is NOT FIT for purpose. Government keep selling 4g 5g spectrum bandwidth which makes them billions and tv licence payers suffer a joke of a service. Government then wonder why people are refusing to pay for a tv licence.

Freeview try to say its due to the weather, however it seems rather odd it always has problems at the same time (mid evening around 8pm) come rain/sunshine high or low pressure.

I for one do not believe their excuses and am sick of the crap service. Their website is about as usefull as a chocolate teapot.
Never updated with any usefull information - in fact they may as well not bother.

Guess this will be one less tv licence payer as im forced to use streaming services rather than freeview crap and dont watch bbc biased broadcasting company.

Appalling customer service!

I used live chat to ask a question. The person was extremely unhelpful and did not provide an answer to my question. She even ended the chat without asking! Appalling customer service!
