Had a super meal at this hotel

Had a super meal at this hotel. A little over priced, but the staff were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. I think the poor man in reception needs to retire. He got very muddled up when we went to pay for our meals. Granted we should’ve gone to the bar to pay for it, but my elderly father didn’t hear that bit. The food we had was excellent. My father and myself had Oxtail and it just melted in my mouth, it was Devine. The fish n chips was advertised as breaded but my mother wanted it battered. The chef said that wasn’t a problem and she thought it was the best she’d ever had! And that’s a compliment!!! The only thing I think it could be improved on,is the staff wearing a uniform, instead of trainers. It’s such a beautiful hotel, I think it would make the staff feel proud to work there. The staff were so lovely and would go out of the way to assist in anyway possible. Enjoyed our evening.

This place is an absolute NO NO!

This place is an absolute NO NO!! We have stayed in some lovely hotels but this by far is the worst. Oh, from the outside it looks idyllic with its grounds, lake and fishing if thats what floats your boat but inside it is an absolute disgrace. They use their lovely location to get away with the tacky disgusting rooms they give you. I was given a Virgin Experience gift from my daughter, myself and my partner decided to stay here. Big mistake, the stair carpet was a total mess, it looked like a load of builders had trampled through the place, there is mould and cobwebs on the ceiling, filthy windows, dirt in corners and no hot water and before anyone says did you not complain, my answer is ... REALLY!!?? Should we need to complain shortly after arrival and in a 3*** establishment where you expect some kind of quality, I'm guessing the ones that rate this place so highly are the ones who have the decent rooms. Room Holly was our room, one of the smallest rooms here even though on the phone i was told when i booked it was an upgrade.. from what...a closet?! We had a free breakfast too but decided to leave at 5.30 in the morning. Never to return. As ratings go it's a 1/10 from us, I definitely DO NOT recommend!! Internet is useless too🤷‍♀️

We stayed at Fiars Carse castle hotel…

We stayed at Fiars Carse castle hotel for the 1st time on Friday, after our wedding. We had to travel by car for a couple hours at night through a snowstorm, so we arrived quite tired. Nonetheless, we arrived to find plentiful parking, and were happy with everything; the place looked very nice from the outside as well as the inside, and the receptionist was friendly. Despite being officially a modestly-priced,'3-Star' hotel, we were impressed with everything, as the place was very clean, and well looked after, and in no way felt anything less than a finely-preserved castle hotel. The receptionist did mention upon arrival that the rooms are not renovated into ultra modernised decorations, which we don't expect anyway, and are happy to see a fair degree of traditional features. We were happy with the clean, spacious room, which had a comfy bed, and a well-kept bathroom (and who cares if it wasn't ultra-modern). The room had a clean kettle/cups/spoons with tea and coffee etc., and the free wifi was good also.
After a comfortable sleep, we finally got to see the place, and the beautiful surroundings in the daylight the next morning. We went downstairs for breakfast, which was one of the Best breakfasts we've ever had at any hotel. The breakfast area was well-kept, clean, and very well laid-out. There was a good selection of things to help yourself to, such as fruit, cereals, Good Quality bread (including a choice of bread) which we could toast. The staff whom served us were of the highest of standard; they very promptly served us, brought us some nice coffee and milk, and took our choice of cooked breakfast. The cooked breakfast was made perfectly as we requested, and even the cutlery was nice. I'd like to add that all the staff gave a good vibe; they were chilled out, and didn't seem overworked. I point this out, as some places that we've been to in the past (including much more expensive places) have had creepy vibes, including staff that were clearly overworked and on edge, which was Not the case here. At one point we believe it was the Manager, even came over during breakfast just to ask and check if all the guests were alright (and not too intrusively, either).
After we checked out, we had a good walk around the premises, as it's in a fantastic place. 5 Stars overall, 10/10.
