Used this for grooved decking with a decking protector. Had to keep stopping and do touch ups with a brush. I tried squishing the pad and pulling towards as well as pushing away. Ended up buying a fence brush at less than half the price. It did the job quicker used less protector and covered more evenly and precisely. The tray was useful though. I wonder if these types of applicators just aren't good for grooved decking? I did soak the pad thoroughly in protector as advised. That's why I got through so much protector, I used Ronseal's. The customer service is excellent though.
