Refund Refused After Storm

Refund Refused After Storm – Service Not Provided

Review:

I booked The Galley of Lorne Inn through Expedia for 4 October 2025, only about an hour before arriving. When we reached the property, the region was experiencing a power outage from a severe storm. The hotel was completely dark and inoperable, with no lights, heating, or services available.

The on-site staff were courteous and confirmed the situation, but said the property could not accommodate guests that night. We had to leave and book another hotel in Oban that same evening.

Since then, I have contacted both Expedia and the hotel repeatedly. Expedia confirmed that they spoke with the property, but the owner refused to authorize a refund, citing a “non-refundable” policy—even though the stay could not take place.

A hotel that cannot provide accommodation should refund its guests. I hope this review helps other travellers make informed decisions until this matter is resolved.
