Not what I signed up for

I went travelling with a friend in 2009 and as a last minute decision, we decided to book on 3 GAP tours in South America to give us some structure to our travels. It was the biggest mistake of our trip.
The guides simply bought your tickets to travel from A to B, showed you to travel agents to book activities and showed you where restaurants were. I could have done all of that myself with the help of a guidebook. They did not offer any information on the region or provide me with anything that i couldn't have got by travelling alone. In the brochure it stated, Day 3.. We will visit... We will see... In fact, they took you to a town and then it was up to you to sort yourself out. Total waste of time and money. I would never again travel with GAP or G Adventures as they are now called and I would urge anyone to absolutely clarify what they are getting from a tour before they book. On complaining to the company, I was offered a £50 voucher towards my next tour. No thanks.
