Disappointing experience due to unprofessional behaviour!
We recently had a new boiler installed, and while the work itself was completed, the behaviour of the two young engineers (Henry and Owen) was extremely unprofessional.
Throughout the visit, they were loudly singing, laughing, and joking around to the point where it felt more like they were socialising rather than working in a customer’s home. This was particularly disruptive as I work from home.
Their overall attitude made me feel uncomfortable in my own home. At times, it genuinely felt as though I, as the homeowner, was somehow invading their space and being an inconvenience, which is completely unacceptable when you are having a service done.
The toilet was used for a number 2 without asking. While I understand that people may need to use the bathroom during a job, it’s basic courtesy to ask the homeowner first.
At one point, the electricity was turned off without any warning, again causing disruption while I was working.
One of the engineers also went into rooms to bleed the radiators without informing us beforehand. Homeowners should always be informed before engineers enter private rooms, as you don’t know who may be inside.
Most concerning of all, something was burned on our cooker. We found burn marks and burn paper traces, we checked our security camera footage, which appears to show a burnt power tool battery and cables being disposed at the front of the house. This represents a serious fire hazard. What is even more unacceptable is that we were not informed at all. Had we not noticed the damage and checked our cameras, we would never have known this had happened.
Overall, the lack of communication, consideration, and professionalism made the experience very uncomfortable. I would expect much better conduct from engineers working in someone’s home.
