Why is free not an option anymore

Why is free not an option anymore? Why would a company be this greedy to charge people to play a mediocre online game. This was played by many when they just had a couple of minutes of free time but no, lets make 10k more yearly but loose 100k players. I would rather it had never existed than have to pay even a single euro for it.

Used to love the game

Used to love the game, even got the pro subscription at first, but the increase in time gates, micromonetization and pointless cosmetics and game modes made me not enjoy it anymore.

This is fraud!

You must never, under any circumstances, pay anything on this website. They deduct your card even if you have ended your subscription and deleted your account!

They even remove the button to be able to cancel the subscription.

Customer service is lousy and plays dumb! I still have to pay for services I don't have.

Not been able to get any hjelp!

so lame that everything costs money

so lame that everything costs money. they let you make an account and click through all the menus but every time you hover over a play button it tells you you have to upgrade to a pro subscription. just make the game cost money on steam or something instead of giving it the appearance of a free website.

Customer service is a scam

Customer service has no empathy or will to help. Got scammed into a year subscription when I just wanted 2 months. CS said I should've cancelled within the first 14 days. It's not even clear what subscription you get (email says nothing).

imagine making the game paid

imagine making the game paid. You are extrememly greedy, I guess I will no longer play. I will move to openguessr.com, the same as geoguesser but with actually good developers who arent so greedy as to lock the whole game behind a subscription paywall.

EDIT: AND EVEN IF YOU PAY, YOU STILL CAN ONLY PLAY 5 MINUTES EVERY 15 MINUTES??????
THIS IS LIKE BUYING A STEAM GAME AND THEN HAVING TO WATCH ADS ON TOP OF THE GAME COST
THIS MEANS THE GAME FORCES YOU TO BUY A MORE EXPENSIVE VERSION!

Good job for loosing 95% of your fanbase along with all the novelty and fun in playing geoguessr.

Recommend to everyone who loves the world

After 1 year of the break, I came back to playing regularly. Got used to the new point system and honestly, I don’t understand, why some comments here are so negative.

It’s fun to explore the world and test your geography, culture and botanical knowledge. Or eg. language skills. You can learn some tricks, but sometimes it’s all about the luck.

The game got more interesting to me after reaching Gold division III, so I can play No Move.

About the payments: guys, it’s not that much. Seriously, a cup of coffee is more expensive than that.
It is a G00gle’s fault, because it charges Geoguessr for using its G Maps.
Also $ are used for organising events etc, cmon.

Geoguessr support is perfect as well, as I had to report some players, who constantly used trackers and cheated by googling phone numbers. They got a ban within 20 mins.

Super sucks

Would like to try the exploring experience and paid for the Pro basic (what the hell is that plan name), only got 5 minutes play out of 15 minutes, and for the early cities only got 1minute or so to play for each landmark position. Totally sucks. Canceling the plan immediately. Not fun, money wasted.

Geoguessr needs to be free

Geoguessr made a stupid decision on how they made their game pay to win. It is stupid because all the people who aren't stupid enough to buy the game and want to play it free don't get a chance. So I hope everyone uninstalls geoguessr and makes them go out of business because they deserve it.
