Bed bugs absolutely disgusting a refund…

Bed bugs absolutely disgusting a refund is well and truly not enough for the sleepless nights, having to leave at 6am and not to mention clothes ruined.
Traumatised! Absolutely no one expects to book a hotel room and end up having bed bugs join them!!
Legal action will be taken
No accountability from the head house keeper let alone reception! no clue what they are doing. Do not stay here

5/5 experience

The staff was so welcoming and friendly. We left a shirt there and they sent it to us very quickly. The room was comfortable and included a fan which definitely was needed.

If this is the hotel in Great Yarmouth…

If this is the hotel in Great Yarmouth which I think it is then it’s the worst place I have ever stayed in we checked in on the 13th august I was totally disgusted on how dirty it was but the 1 st night of the stay was dreadful to say the least we were kept awake ALL night from 9 people in the back garden drinking smoking laughing I wouldn’t mind if it was at a reasonable hour but this had STARTED at 12am and went on until 4-50am I reported this to the manager and he said I can’t see anyone out there on rather cctv but I saw him go and speak to them and 7 of them moved on but the other 2 stayed and went on and on and on I made 11 phone calls to the manager but after 4-40 he did not answer my calls, I went downstairs to complain and he said you can move hotel but only have 15 minutes to do so, but everywhere was booked except st George hotel, which I found a bit strange but to my astonishment I stayed and it happened again all night only to ring it was homeless people sitting there drinking and smoking, smoking weed was also going on in the hotel all night ,I recorded it showed the manger and he said sorry and I have to speak with the owner Jimmy, who was one of the most rudest men I have ever spoken to saying he did not believe me and I was just trying it on, I hope this is a wake up call to everybody who wants to stay there I would DEFINITELY NOT GO ANY WHERE NEAR THIS HOTEL, totally and utterly disgusted that people make a living out of such terrible facilities and hospitality

Not a hotel I'd recommend.....

While this hotel has received some positive reviews on another website, my understanding is that it came under new ownership last year, many of the reviews (and score) appear to originate from when it was once a family run hotel. St George Hotel is still listed as a family run hotel on their website – perhaps they have yet to update the site.

I checked in at St George Hotel on the 12th August, I had planned on staying longer but more on that in a moment, after having reserved a single room the previous day. The room I had was located on the 4th floor.

The hotel was reasonably decorated and modern. The room I had was incredibly clean, cleaner than some mainstream hotel rooms - impressive!

Warning! Unfortunately, the staff were neither friendly, helpful or approachable. This was apparent very early during my arrival. Had I done or said something to offend which would later spread like wildfire in gossip or was it my smiling that they were unaccustomed to? One will never know. In fact, it became so intolerable that I had to find another hotel less than 24 hours of my arrival for the following day. The ‘rudeness’ displayed was simply way too much to suffer for the four nights booked. I am not the only guest to experience this behaviour reading some of the reviews elsewhere. If I’m not made to feel welcome, I will go someplace I will be!

Warning! The hotel is not well insulated for sound. During my first (and last) night I could hear, very clearly, someone in the next room having a pee, loud enough to believe someone was in my room using the toilet. Noise, which I believe (but not sure) were doors banging was another issue. The noise was not only on my floor but elsewhere in the building. It certainly prevented me from getting a refreshing night sleep. – other reviewers had noted similar issues with this hotel on another website.

The restaurant was closed in the evening while I was there, but was able to order food at the bar. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. The morning breakfast was as good as any hotel that offers a buffet style cooked brekkie.

Warning! I would suggest if you’re a ‘tourist’ and wanting to explore the area of Chatham or further afield you stay elsewhere. This hotel is more suited to workmen or business people needing a head down for the night when no other hotels are available.

I did not request a refund, nor will bother fighting for its return – perhaps it can be used in re-training or firing the stale and hiring fresh professional people that know about the hospitality trade.

In contrast when I arrived at a Premier Inn I was greeted with smiles and conversation. The young lady checking me in even took the time to get out of reception and walk to another building to check on my room being available after cleaning, something she did not have to do.

In fact, during my stay every single member of staff smiled, made short conversation and were incredibly helpful and welcoming.
The rooms at Premier Inn have improved considerably in recent years, I not only had comfort, good food and a great welcome, I was also able to get a good night sleep.

Stay at a Premier Inn – you’re less likely to feel unwelcome!
