Zero understanding of ESD protection - Goodbye laptop

The Getronics visited me to repair a Lenovo laptop. The process was to involve removing all the internal parts of the laptop to replace the case. The engineer arrived and started to take the laptop apart with zero ESD (Electro Static Discharge) protection.

Not only did the engineer lack the training over the importance of ESD protection, he didn't even carry the right equipment. This means potentially each time he is opening up a laptop or computer he is damaging it. Such damage doesn't always show itself in the short term, it can simply appear as premature failure of parts.

When challenged he found some ESD protection parts, still in their sealed plastic bags - so clearly never used. But he lacked an ESD plug to earth himself and the ESD mat attachment. These are basic safety measures to protect sensitive electronics. There is no way a company should be sending out engineers with such a lack of basic awareness, skill and equipment. The engineer said he had been doing this job 4 years... that is 4 years of potentially damaging customers equipment.

If you value the longevity of your computer equipment do not let this company near it!

Excellent Technician

Excellent Technician, prompt service! Acting as 3rd party for Dell, Arvinder was prompt, courteous and helpful. He fitted a new motherboard quickly and tested everything worked. Can recommend.

Ok so I had 2 visits for a warranty…

Ok so I had 2 visits for a warranty repair. The first visit was a guy called Jacob and quite frankly he was terrible. Failed to fix my computer due to dead on arrival part (ok not his fault) but then failed to connect the speakers back up before leaving. So left my computer in a worse state.

However the engineer today and he really was a proper engineer. Arvinder he was beyond fantastic really great work on the repair. Really cared about what he was doing and just brilliant.

The company itself I couldn’t really comment on but Arvinder that guy is a tech hero!

They broke my laptop

They broke my laptop, sent a receipt claiming it was fixed, and made getting a replacement completely difficult.

They ignored the task required of them and went to act on their own free will which resulted in my bad, but working laptop becoming completely unusable.

this company is shoking and not trustworthy

this company is shoking. being used by dell for their repairs.

cant respect disabilities and only use email when someone says they are deaf. sends out engineers first only with parts diagnosed over the phone (1.5 hours someone else was on phone on my behalf)

left after first visit before even checking so hadnt done the bios setup and had somehow caused a new issue with overheating so he rebooked it... so a second engineer comes out but that poor guy, the only one who i feel probably would have done a good job, said, dont know what this guy has ordered, but hes ordered the wrong parts, thats not the right problem.

but because they carry no parts that meant a 3rd person booked to come out. this guy first day calls me and then doesnt like being reminded about no calls, so he doesnt turn up, so 4th DAY WAITING IN he turns up despite discussions about times, outside of the window and is here from 5.45-7.15 just to replace the card reader.

before he leaves he loads my laptop up, and theres clearly now a virus on it too. this virus/scam was telling me i had to update my antivirus. he kept trying to push me to do that. and today ive even had a text from him to again suggest i update antivirus - that was a scam, and thankfully i didnt give into his pressure, whether he just was treating me like a stupid idiot or whether he added that i dont know, but thakfully friends realised and i didnt get duped.

he left, closed the case and so today im now fighting again to get someone back out because actually hes not put it back together properly, the casing/keyboard, so now the keys are too low in the case and catching fingers to type. so it will have been 5 visits by the time this is sorted. thats a fortnight without proper access to my laptop and 5 days waiting in for engineers.

they are mostly incompetent, though one main issue is the company clearly dont care and work on a one thing at a time response so that means nobody diagnoses the problem properly.

i am so done and so angry at this point that i had to leave a review, because i think tonight the same friend will have to call dell again and deal with another long phonecall to sort this out because i dont seem to be able to as theyve closed the case.

very poor service

Dell use this 3rd party to repair computers.

The problem I had was nobody turned up. They kept making excuses such as engineer late, then it was no parts available, then it was parts on another engineer van.... I've since contacted Dell, told them to reconsider using their services. I'm now also seeking my refund. Unfortunately very poor service.

Steer clear of Getronics absolute Joke

Dell use this company to provide NOT engineers but Parts Fitters. After 3 days and a lot of lies Road closure, technician stuck on another job etc they finally managed to attend to replace a faulty SSD with Windows 11 pre installed. All I can say is these guys were in a hurry to get home. They installed the drive and some drivers and left without checking if Windows was activated. After they left I noticed Windows was not activated, after repeatly contacting them their Boss Simon Waller told me they the tech asked me if I wanted anything else done, how was I to know windows was not activated. Not my Job to check their work. I then spoke to the techs and they said wait for it, it is not their job to activate Windows! Steer clear of these cowboys.
