Cancelled my order

Cancelled my order, costumer service had to run me through for hours, just to tell me they did not know what to do. Worst service i've ever had.

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE

I ordered some peanut butter to be delivered to a local supermarket.
I paid the extra postage for this service and 11 days later no correspondence. I telephoned the number and was surprised to find out that the company is owned by Holland and Barrett, I spoke to someone who assured me he would deal with it.
I contacted them today and have been told that the item was damaged, my question was when were you going to inform me.
The communication between Holland and Barrett and the couriers is very poor.

Useless service. Do not use.

Useless, what a waste of time! I ordered a package of whey protein, and organised for it to be delivered to a locker. Package didn't arrive. Then called GNC, who said that the locker was to small for the package they were trying to deliver it to, and that because of this would be delayed by a week! What a waste of time, I'll just stick with paying an extra couple of quid and continue to use my other protein supplier, who's delivery service so far has been faultless.

Horrible service

Horrible service. Paid for next delivery and didn't receive anything. When I called them they said I had paid for standard delivery although it's clear on my order confirmation email that I paid for next day.

Horrible and think customers are stupid and can fool them over the phone.

Good website and service, but terrible courier.

The website and service are good. Usually prices are better online than in store. However the company they use for the delivery (Hermes) is terrible.

My first bad experience was some months ago... They delivered my pacage and left it just after the front door of the building where I was living. I specified that the interphone was not working so I gave them my number to call me. I was lucky I could pick up my package almost as they left it there.

The second bad experience was a couple of months ago when I placed a new order. This time it took them more than one week to complete the delivery. When I tracked my order they said they went to my flat twice in the days before. That is not true because I was in the flat those days and nobody rang the bell or contacted security in the building.

GNC is a great company (I buy from GNC in Mexico and USA, where I used to live), but Hermes is really bad. They should change the courier.

A company offering quality products at good prices with a glitchy Paypal system and a 3rd rate courier delivery partner.

GNC [gnc.co.uk] is a very good supplements/foods company. Their website is well laid out, a good variety of products have at least adequate and often very good/excellent levels of information attached and the process of searching/selection is easy and straightforward. Their customer services reply promptly and politely and deal with issues to hand in a straightforward manner. EXCEPT with online payment issues which they go out of their way to ignore until you are spitting nails.

They have real issues with their Paypal interface which, despite repeated reports they have failed to address. Given that small traders all over the world have managed to deploy Paypal's basically bulletproof system, the idea that a large company such as this cannot is ludicrous. Basically the first transaction fails to go through and you have to pay a second time. Your first payment is held until the trader [GNC in this instance] cancels the transction or the trade time expires. This can be anything between 7-30 days, so basically they are holding onto your money for up to a month for nothing unless they choose to cancel the transaction, which you would expect a reputable company to do immediately they have verified your report of a problem. GNC do not do this. This is an annoyance that, if you are to become a regular customer, will turn into a bugbear if you prefer this method of online payment. If, like me, you prefer to buy some things in bulk, it can turn into a temporarily very expensive bugbear.

The first time this happened I reported it and they did nothing. The second time it happened, I reported it and again they did nothing. I took it all the way to the office of the CEO Peter Aldis and it was only after repeated complaints that I threatened them with legal action and a cessation of trading injunction that they finally got around to returning the improperly made charge. That is deplorable customer service by anyone's standards.

Their choice of courier is a reflection of this attitude in customer services. All delivery service options they offer are via Hermes. [Look them up elsewhere on this review site either under "Hermes" or "myHermes". A company consistently getting one or no stars and nothing but complaints is not one I would choose to partner with]. Frankly they would be better served tying parcels to a flock of pigeons and hoping. When I first brought this up with them after the delivery hassle from hell, I was told they were looking at options. Now I understand from the CEO's office that they will not be offering any alternatives till sometime next year. If you believe that you can knit fog. It should take a matter of days to set up a pilot trial with a reputable carrier such as Royal Mail, UPS or Parcelforce, and it cannot be a finance issue since they pass shipping costs onto the cutsomer, so their failure to implement a choice of service at least can only be put down to lip service being paid in response to a complaints in the expectation that they will go away.

It is a shame because I would rather pay an extra pound or two to have things delivered by Royal Mail than this miserable shower and the fact that I cannot choose a better delivery service to compliment the otherwise fair service and excellent products on offer is a huge let down.
When asked, a month after this latest incident, what they had done to solve their problems, I was told that they could not rectify the Paypal issue and were not offering alternative carriers as yet. They did suggest I give them my credit card details, which - given that they cannot get a bulletproof system like Paypal to work and employ a courier as likely to lose or dump your parcel than actually hand it to you - is simply not going to happen.

All of this is why they have lost me as a customer. It is a shame because they offer good products, but the amount of hassle that comes with buying those products makes it entirely not worth it.
