Very happy with my special signed edition of A Little Trickerie by Rosanna Pike. Quick international delivery and the book was very well protected with bubble wrap. The book itself is beautiful. I appreciate the transparent dustjack sleeve.
Goldsboro Books sells lovely items. The problem is their customer service. They charge top dollar delivery fees but take weeks to dispatch anything with no updates. There was an issue with one of the items I ordered. Instead of dispatching the rest of the order (and you pay for postage on an item-by-item basis so it wasn’t like they had any reason not to post my other items) they just sat on the whole order for two months without contacting me about the issue. They only dispatched the other items after I emailed them to ask what was going on and I suspect I would have just lost my money if I hadn’t reached out. With regard to the item that was a problem - their solution was for me to contact their distributor to speak to them myself! Are they having a laugh?
I am a new buyer with Goldsboro Books. I am extremely satisfied with the quality of the books received; but more importantly has been my contact with the customer service team.
I'm autistic and can ask many questions to ensure I understand all elements before using the business. The replies from the team have always been very quick. They have answered my questions clearly and have provided me with support needed.
I have no hesitation in contacting them with any queries. They are also very honest. 1 book I ordered had slight marks on the coloured edge. They sent me pictures and offered me an immediate refund if I didn't want the book.
Also a big thank you to the people in the packaging department who also do a brilliant job.
Having been gifted a monthly book as a Christmas present, I have read 3 and half read 2. Mixed reviews? Yes. The first was about American couples vying to be ice dance champions and maybe succeed at the Winter Olympics,
The next was 'Nesting', a diary of the troubles of a wife fleeing a possessive husband in Dublin. She was convincing but it was hard to believe in him as a real predator.
Third was 'The Lamb', magical realism about cannibalism in the northern forests of England.
Then there was a rural tale about love and marriage in Dorset. Too starrily romantic to progress more than a third if the course and distance.
The fifth, 'The Seven O'clock club' is more readable and effective. So one can hope that the books are in ascending order of personal preference. The books are beautifully produced.
Whereas there was a delay in communication, and shipping, I was ultimately very pleased with the way this was handled, would use again.
Goldsboro used to be great but customer service has collapsed, especially for subscribers. Books are late and uninspiring. The GSFF is a racket. I waited to get off the waiting list and then was stunned by the books we were offered. Their editions are signed and numbered but Broken Binding is better and others are now offering better limited edition books.
The books are wonderful quality, especially the special editions which are stunning. However other areas are weak. The postage is extortionate considering how long booked take to arrive and I understand keeping things well protected but 10-12 feet of bubble wrap for each box is unnecessary and horrendous for the environment. The pre-order service is also painfully inadequate. You are often left waiting weeks after publication date to receive the books with zero communication about the delay. I noticed that I didn't have this issue until I cancelled my membership and became an ad hoc customer
Goldsboro Books helped me out with something extremely important to me, and I really appreciated the help from Harveen. She was super cooperative and she managed to accommodate a request of mine without any blips whatsoever. I would recommend the bookstore as they have so many options available, and some unique titles too.
It might be an odd one, but I recently had an awful experience with this shop. I ordered a book online, there was no confirmation of it being posted after two weeks and no other correspondence, so I contacted them to enquire what was happening; I was told the book was not in stock in the first instance and that I would be refunded for this. Another fortnight passed with no correspondence and no refund. I contacted them again and was told the same thing again. I ended up referring the problem to my bank. They are probably fine in person, but I would avoid the online shop at all costs.
Great selection of titles and friendly helpful staff 📚🍷😊
I was a member for many years and have spent hundreds of pounds with these people. I loved receiving my books, it was a joy to open, inspect and catalogue my books. I waited months for membership to the GSFF section and was pleased when i began to receive these also. Towards the end of this year Goldsborog changed their system and, I'm told, REQUIRED members to subscribe to a different site. I found the process confusing and hesitated over the payment system which seemed to imply I would be charged twice. My subscription has now been canceled and my long awaited place on the GSFF subscription given away. I am angry and a little sad.

such ashame, have gotten some wonderful signed books from here online, but when I went in person was very unhappy. I wanted to buy a book which was in the window and the lady at the desk was very rude, she had a nasty attitude saying she would get my book in a minute, had to wait 10 minutes for her to get it (keep in mind I was the only person in the shop). Then she set the book back down on the desk and went back on her laptop, I was standing infant of her, waiting to purchase it and she was just giving me a nasty look, when I asked to buy it. She then proceeded to ignore me and act as if I wasn't there. Then a couple came in and she started to serve them, very happy and pleasant, keep in mind I was there first at the desk waiting for her to even acknowledge me. She then starts calling them by their names (I assume she knows them, friends or regular customers, i'm not sure). I guess she only treats people with kindness if she knows them. I was treated disrespectfully and ignored while she treated other customers nicely. Appalled, has really put me off purchasing from here again, knowing that people like that work there makes me never want to go back.
Great little bookshop with amazing customer service and great special editions of books. I always end up spending half an hour chatting with the staff who are all very passionate and knowledgeable about books.
What an amazing experience I had while visiting Goldsboro. The customer service and genuine willing to help find the right book was brilliant.
I will definitely be returning to find my next book.
I would highly recommend getting your books from Goldsboro, I think it’s great that most of the authors actually go into their book shops to sign them. I recently had to make a query with their customer service team and despite some of the comments below, I received a quick response and the person I dealt with was really helpful.
Fantastic service
Keep you informed of delivery by email
Brilliant book company 👏 ❤️
Just received another order from Goldsboro Books. I always have good customer service and especially this time when I had a lot of questions, the lady that helped me was friendly, patient and made me feel like I wasn’t being a nuisance, I believe her name was Lizzie.
My books are always packaged so well, so arrive in great condition.
I would never go anywhere else for my first editions.
I’m awaiting my first book, but so far I’m blown away by the customer service from Goldsboro. Two emails to customer service sent after hours answered early next morning. A third email asking if the invoice could be removed from a gift parcel resulted in a personal note from the despatcher that this had been done. Excellent customer service I sadly haven’t experienced elsewhere in a long time.
If you are interested in signed first edition books, Goldsboro Books is the place for you. I love being a member of the Goldsboro Premier Book Club and the GSSF. The books are beautiful editions and the quality and variety of the books that are chosen is amazing. It is always worth dropping in to the shop in Cecil Court to have a chat with the friendly and knowledgeable staff and maybe pick up one of those books you forgot to pre-order.
Such a brilliant service from this small independent book company. Great costumer service and a speedy delivery.
