Poor Presto products, warranties, customer service

Presto products, warranty, and customer service are inferior. I've had a 4 qt cooker for just 3 years, and the handle falls off. The handle has only 1 screw and no lock washers holding it on. I filed a warranty appeal with customer service to get a replacement cooker. I submitted images and detailed descriptions of the defective design and inferior workmanship of the handle attachment. I finally got a decision that they would not replace the defective cooker but would sell me a new one, offering an insulting-low discount. They are well aware of the defective earlier cooker, as newer cookers have improved handle attachment using 2 screws and lock washers to securely attach the handle.

DODGING WARRANTY CLAIMS

Have had 3 presto induction pressure cookers have bases delaminate in the last year. The pressed on plate that makes them induction ready is a joke/flimsy/poorly attached. Asked for warranty, they didn't even entertain the idea, and just blamed me for overheating the unit/running it dry which I definitely haven't done. The latest one doesn't even have a hot spot mark. They don't even sell the base by itself so I have literally lost $1200 to this poor design.

They also don't back their products up if you are using them for mushroom sterilisation. So be warned...

Presto Dorothy Rapid Cold Brewer…

This is a review of the Presto Dorothy Rapid Cold Brew coffee brewer. This Rapid cold brewer is sold on the Presto website for &49.95, on Amazon at the time of this review for $14.99 and at Olie's Bargen outlet for $5.00. I purchased mine at Olie's.
First I must explain the difference between cold brew and iced coffee.
Cold brew coffee is when you take coarsely ground coffee and immerse it into cold water and let it steep for 16-24 hours. This is usually done in a French Press coffee brewer, then served over ice. This method will produce a very flavorful smooth well balanced not bitter coffee drink.
Iced coffee on the other had is brewed by either using a drip coffee maker or a pour over. You would use a medium grind coffee. When brewing you would use your normal amount of ground coffee but only half the amount of water brewing onto Ice cubes that make up the remainder of the normal amount of water. This beverage differs in comparison to cold brew in that it is quick to make and will produce a cleaner, brighter tasting drink that will bring out the tasting notes in the coffee being used and will not necessarily be smooth or balanced.
The Presto Dorothy is a combination of both. It's claim is that it will make cold brew FAST...well not exactly.
Unboxing you will find what looks to be a French Press with a little cup at the bottom that serves as a grind collection container and a spining blade thing that sets or makes the vortex/tornado water column. This Vortex is what causes the agitation necessary to extract all the coffee goodness to make cold brew in a short time. This French Press sets on top of and into a base that sends electric current to the Vortex spinner inside at the bottom of the French Press.
You must follow the instructions exactly with a couple of caveats. I followed the instructions and my best results came from Presto's recommendations by letting the coffee agitate for the full 30 minutes, however after doing some experimentation I found that by using a dark roast medium grind coffee like French roast and letting it agitate for 45 minutes, then letting it settle for another 15 minutes I achieved an outstanding cold brew that was very low in sediment. Don't like sediment and want a cleaner cup run your finished brew through a coffee filter into a mason jar.
In conclusion does the Presto Dorothy rapid cold brew live up to its promises...yes. Is it worth it...well maybe.
At the Presto price of $49.99...NO
At the Amazon price of $14.99...Maybe. You can get a quality French Press at Walmart for about $20.00 and make cold brew the correct way and have a more versatile coffee brewer in the end.
At the Olie's price of $5.00...YES, that's a good deal. And that is the only way i would recommend this product, otherwise buy a good French Press.
