We held a wedding at this venue and everything was fantastic, from Adam the Manager to the staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful and everything ran like clockwork. We also stayed overnight. the rooms were lovely and breakfast was great.

We are absolutely devastated to be writing this review, but feel we have no choice after being consistently ignored by the venue following our formal complaint.

Our wedding day – something we spent so long planning and saving for – was completely ruined due to the lack of organisation, professionalism and basic care from the assigned wedding coordinator and wider venue team.

Initially, our coordinator Adam was fantastic. However, when our wedding was handed over, we were reassured everything would run smoothly. Unfortunately, this was not the case at all.

From the day before the wedding, issues began. Agreed arrangements were not in place, and the coordinator appeared disorganised and unsure. When I raised concerns around accessibility due to my disabilities, these were not taken seriously and were handled in an inappropriate and dismissive manner.

On the wedding day itself, there was little to no coordination. The coordinator was absent for large parts of the day, leaving us, our family and our suppliers to effectively run the wedding ourselves. There were no timelines, no guidance, and no leadership at any stage.

Key issues included:
• No consistent wedding coordination or support throughout the day
• Accessibility concerns ignored
• Guests not signed in, posing serious safety concerns
• Bridal party forced to move rooms mid-preparation
• Ceremony lacked direction, with no one organising entrances or key moments
• Reception poorly managed, including incorrect table layouts and confusion over drinks
• Guests not offered agreed drink options
• Food and drinks removed before guests had finished
• Multiple elements we paid for were not delivered

In addition, the overall condition of the venue was unacceptable. Several rooms were unclean, with visible dust, debris and maintenance issues such as leaking toilets. Rooms were also either excessively cold or too hot, making guests uncomfortable.

We also paid for extended bar access and a private bar for residents and guests staying overnight. This was not honoured. The bar closed earlier than agreed, and the private bar was locked, leaving guests without the service we had specifically paid for.

Most concerning of all is how this has been handled afterwards. Despite raising a detailed formal complaint, we have been consistently ignored. Adam, who was initially so helpful during the planning stage, has unfortunately been equally unresponsive and unhelpful when it has come to addressing these very serious issues.

We paid thousands of pounds for what should have been the most special day of our lives, and instead were left feeling embarrassed, distressed and completely let down.

Based on our experience, we would strongly advise other couples not to book this venue.

They completely destroyed what was meant to be our dream day.

Nice enough room and fabulous breakfast, staff were polite and friendly. The shocking part is getting to and from the main road. The narrow lane leading down to the hotel is cratered with potholes like it’s a war zone! Disgraceful that they haven’t invested in keeping it in good shape.

What a shame such a lovely venue is prepared to sell out to allow a horrific development right behind their venue with severe disruption down their own road for the best part of a year. All that noise and the potential for danger to their guest in return for their blatant greed when they could stop it and ensure their guests can still enjoy their experience at the venue. Pure greed !!!!
