⭐ -0 Star – Halfords: Absolute joke of a service!!!! Avoid!
Absolutely disgraceful experience. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to any expensive repairs here. I paid online for an A/C diagnostic because my air conditioning wasn't cooling properly. I already knew the system had a very slow refrigerant leak because I had recharged it myself twice, and on both occasions the refrigerant lasted roughly **two weeks** before disappearing again.I explained all of this to the technician before leaving the car. I also told him that I had already added UV dye oil specifically to help locate the leak. I made it very clear that this was a slow micro-leak and that I wanted the A/C system properly diagnosed. I left the car there and, about half an hour later, received a call telling me there was “bad news.”When I returned, instead of simply explaining what they had found with the A/C, I was suddenly being told about a blown parking light bulb, LED lights in the rear lights and other electrical issues.I had to stop him and remind him: I brought the car in because the A/C wasn't working, not for a complete inspection of every light and electrical modification on the car. Then came the real shock.I was told I needed a new condenser costing £400, plus a relay and another component with the total repair coming to £1,000. I questioned this immediately. I showed him that I could find a compatible condenser online for around £50, and even checking normal motor factors such as Euro Car Parts, similar condensers were nowhere near £400.His response was essentially: “We don't buy from eBay.”
Fine. I completely understand that a professional garage doesn't necessarily use eBay. But even allowing for a legitimate parts markup, I cannot understand how a condenser that can be purchased for roughly £50–£100 elsewhere suddenly becomes a £400 part through Halfords. I understand that garages have overheads, labour costs and need to make a profit. That's not the issue. The issue is being presented with a repair bill approaching £1,000 for an A/C problem without a clear explanation of why the parts alone are priced so dramatically above the normal market price. And remember, I had already told them that the system had a slow refrigerant leak and that UV dye was already present. If the leak could not be located with the UV dye, I expected the system to be properly pressure-tested using an appropriate method rather than simply being presented with an enormous parts bill. I went in for an A/C diagnostic and somehow ended up hearing about bulbs, rear lights, electrical problems, a condenser, relays and a potential £1,000 repair. At that point I was half expecting them to tell me the tyres and exhaust needed replacing as well. 😂This is an absolute joke!If you don't know much about cars, my advice is simple: do not automatically accept an expensive quote. Get a second opinion and check the price of the parts yourself before authorising any work. The experience left me feeling like I was being treated as though I knew nothing about cars and would simply accept whatever price I was given.I came in for an A/C problem. I did not come in to have half the car added to the repair bill.Extremely disappointing experience. I will not be returning to this Halfords branch. Get a second opinion before spending your money here.

Battery warranty not being honoured
I bought an AGM battery 2.5 years ago which had a 4 year warranty. I never leave my car parked weeks on end but only drive 3-4K miles per year. When my battery wouldn't charge fully and failed to start my car when let overnight, I tried to return but was told they would not honour the warranty because I don't drive enough. This is not mentioned anywhere so I had to buy a battery from another store. There's no point in trying their customer services online chat as they don't respond!
