Disappointed Customer

I’ve been a customer for years but now don’t think the prices are justified and the quality of my recent order is poor
Also, they have changed the returns procedure, more complicated and my drop off point is further away than before

I used to love this site.BUT now…

I used to love this site.BUT now dreadful delivery.Item arrived days later than emails and tracking stated.and the package was damaged so the item was wet as it was raining and was left outside.
E mailed gudrun twice and got no reply.
Sizeing very variable so medium size jumper huge,at least a size 18/20.not worth paying another £7.00 to return a sale item so going to sell it on line.
I have unsubscribed from their emails etc TWICE now but they are still arriving.
They can produce countless emails but dont bother replying to messages.
2 stars is generous

Terrible website and support

I tried to place an order today using the EU site. I live in Belgium but my Dutch language skills are not good enough to order products like these. The EU site is in English but won't let me order and ship to Belgium. I contacted the customer service line and got a rude email from them asking why I wasn't ordering from Ireland (where I used to live). They never offered to help me order or give me assistance. Just a rude email.
I would give them one star except for the clothes being nice IF you can get them.

Never again. The charges, slow delivery and now the nightmare of returns. Totally ‘yuk’!! experience so far. Will I ever see my money back… unlikely.

Service charge, postal fees and thin fabrics

I have always loved Gudrun's clothes, but feel pretty ripped off by the service charge of £5 added to the sale item I recently bought, as its sale price is under £40. I also need to return the item, and believe it will cost me £7, as I am not requesting an exchange or reporting a fault. I am returning a pair of jersey trousers because the fabric is a lot thinner than I was expecting and will be no good for wearing in autumn or winter, as I'd hoped. Really disappointed to be £12 out of pocket because the item was not what I was expecting.

customer service???

i had stupidly ordered a sales dress for the second time and asked if they could cancel the order. they said no because it had been invoiced and it was going to be sent the next day. i told them this was unacceptable as it hadn't been sent yet and offered to take a credit note. email ignored, item still sent.

Beware the Kauri woven organic dress in blue..... blue colour will transfer to hands, arms, any body part that's exposed to it.

Generally I like Gudrun clothes and I have the Kauri dress in black, and it's lovely. However I think this blue dress is not fit for purpose .. who wants to wear a dress that's going to transfer colour to your skin? It should be withdrawn from sale.

I have bought GS clothes for years

I have bought GS clothes for years, and I love it.
I love the colors
She has a palette that’s very cool and everything goes well with everything else
Almost all clothes have POCKETS!
I have some tunics that are at least 5 years old, worn every day but not worn out.
The colors stay beautiful
I feel good when I wear GD
The clothes are a bit pricey, but here in Scandinavia they are affordable, I buy only two, three every year but since they always fit together, after many years I have a lot that I can mix so I look like a new me every day…
Never had problems with sending, but maybe it’s different around the word?

Lost A Customer

Item arrived. Colour was not as shown. Sent back next day. 14 days later still no refund. Queried this via email with customer services. The beginning of a a long exchange of emails. Said the documentation wasn’t with the parcel. The parcel would be sent back to me! Days later parcel delivered to my address. Took photos of the parcel and sent to customer care asking what had I failed to do. Apparently nothing all documentation was there! Then cc emailed me attachment of fresh documents but I don’t have access to a printer. Now waiting for them to be posted to me. It was so much easier when items could be sent to this Scottish returns facility. I won’t order from this firm again.

Apppalling customer service, mediocre quality and lunatic sizing

Ordered 2 tops but they only managed to deliver 1. Messaged customer service immediately and waited. And waited. 48 hours later i would have expected some response but nothing so messaged them again. After 1 week i opened a paypal dispute but they didn't even bother to respond to paypal. Eventually Paypal refunded me. I thought about returning the other top as the sizing is way off and the quality really couldn't justify the price but realised there was zero chance of getting any joy from their 'customer service'.

Lady in customer service

Lady in customer service, she sounded elderly, so rude, I was very shocked.
And after her rudeness she then says 'you're welcome'
I still haven't recovered, I haven't purchased anything since, and do not think I ever will.

Unwilling to refund in full on item that is not as described

I ordered the Peace Dress and a pair of trousers. Only after ordering and paying was I told that the trousers wouldn't be sent for another two months. When the dress arrived it was enormous, despite having ordered the correct size according to their guide. There is 22cm additional fabric across the bust. I knew it would be a generous fit, but I didn't expect it to look like a tent. The fabric is a beautiful design, but so sheer that I'd be arrested for obscenity if I wore it without a petticoat or leggings and vest. This isn't what I want to do with a summer dress. I believe it isn't fit for purpose, as the description specifically mentions that fabric is quality assured for transparency. When I pointed this out to customer services, I was told I would still have to pay the return postage as the dress isn't faulty. Under EU distance selling regulations, it isn't as described. How does this company continue to flaunt the law so regularly, as seen in numerous reviews? They had the chance to establish a good relationship with a potential customer, but completely lost my trust. I suspect they will not be in business for much longer with this approach.

plus and minus

I have been buying regularly and significantly for a year with mixed success
PROS: delightful colors and patterns, natural fibers
CONS: sewing is not up to par.
sizing is all over the map.
garments do not have enough structure so they can look "dumpy". They need to be layered under other garments for structure.
BREAKING POINT: bought garment based on their listed sizing, washed as directed, it shrank significantly .. Company would not take it back
Also in the past they made me pay for the return of a sweater that had faulty printing technique

Disappointing…

After several disappointing years where I returned more orders than I kept, I thought I’d finally give Gudrun Sjoden another go in 2021-22. GS items do arrive fairly quickly free via UPS (which is great if you can drive or are able bodied enough to walk up the hill to your local UPS point) but very expensive to return them as they take £10 off your refund if you reuse UPS. To return a small parcel today by Royal Mail to Scotland came to £7.65 so it was not much less. I wouldn’t mind so much if their sizing was more accurate; even for all the ubiquitous loose fit dresses I still fall uncomfortably between small (too skimpy around the chest to pull on) and medium (far too baggy and enormous). The colour representations on the website are photographed against brightly coloured backdrops instead of white which can be very misleading. What looked like a deep magenta pink to me online turned out to be a very dull dark wine and was not at all what I expected. Nor can you actually zoom in on the patterns and colours and details of garments on the website which is in itself clunky and hard to navigate. I even had trouble signing into my own account just now. Finally the manufacturing quality of most of my orders over the last few years has declined sharply with very thin cotton fabrics, more suitable for wearing in a summer in India rather than a British autumn. Badly fastened self-coloured wool/cotton buttonholes on a knitted cardigan I ordered in September meant that a button was falling off, even as I unwrapped it on arrival. Not easily mended unless you have the right yarn in the right colour as it was prominently placed right in front of the garment. After contacting customer services GS themselves admitted that I should keep it as they couldn’t repair or resell it. They did refund me but I was amazed at the waste of an item retailing at well over £100. I have only been happy to keep six of nine purchases (which include two almost foolproof completely black dresses and tights) over the last year, but now have no confidence in ordering any of GS distinctive and much vaunted colourful clothes any longer. It is no longer worth my time and trouble deciding which item will be a good buy and then finding on arrival that yet again is is disappointing and has to go back to my local PO where I must pay for the privilege to boot. So my orders for 2022-23 work out at a return rate of over 33% and it was even higher in the previous year. However I cannot verify that as I cannot even access my orders from before 2022 on my account on the website unless I directly contact customer services first. It’s just not good enough, especially when due to disability and lack of mobility I have to rely on buying clothes and accurate representations on websites rather than being able to see and try on clothes in real shops. GS isn’t unique in suffering from these problems but their clothes are quite a lot more expensive than, for example M&S, which sadly is now of comparable bad quality and I would expect a better quality of manufacture and service for the extra money. I just haven’t the mental and physical energy to keep buying and returning substandard and disappointing items so I will be giving GS a miss this year after being a good GS Club customer for over fifteen years. The design, details, materials and workmanship just isn’t what it used to be and they show no signs of improving despite years of reviews like mine. GS really need to up their game but they seem to have settled for gossamer thin fabrics (cheap) both in cottons and viscose jersey and cheaper manufacturing standards to maintain their fairly hefty profits. Not impressed.

Strong design, fun and colourful but

I have learnt to buy the GS clothes that are made from natural fibres only, rather than the polyester and acrylic blends. I've been buying from this colourful, vibrant brand with strong design for about 20 years.
My only real criticism is that they ship and get returns via UPS who regularly damage or lose parcels. My latest clothes arrived, second try. I hope the UPS employee who took the last order appreciates how beautiful they are. This is the only company I buy from regularly, I hope they return to their brand quality from about 4 years ago. They've been using manufacturers that are careless recently both in China and India, with sizing and manufacture quality recently. So come on GS, you can get your manufacturing back to great again.

My experience with Gudrun S

My experience with Gudrun S. brand is recent, I fell in love with their great designs and beautiful fashion images. I found several items on line in Sweden and bought at reasonable prices with good shipping options.
The fabric of the recent collections are now incorporating many man made textiles, which I avoid because they do not age well.
So the older pieces, often used but wearable are better, I already wear lots of separates and layers in my retired lifestyle, so it's a mix and match that worls for me.
The best discovery was the leather footware. made with good quality leather with fun colors and a roomy toe area, that is so comfortable. You can find unworn older stock for $36. a pair plus shipping.
Overall it was a pleasant addition and sorry they are turning to synthetics like everybody else. Prices are still high.

I love the clothes on this website but…

I love the clothes on this website but they are out of my price range, however I saw the Lalita dress & thought I would treat myself as I loved the style.
The dress arrived but before I opened it I thought that possibly they had sent the wrong thing as it was so light but they hadn’t. The material is so thin and would easily rip. Not worth a third of the price I paid for it- really disappointing and certainly won’t purchase from them again.
