Avoid this Australian chain of Phone Repairers

I purchased a phone charger, charging cable and portable power bank from this store approximately 3 weeks ago. The cable frayed very quickly during ordinary daily use and stopped functioning. The power bank also did not perform as represented at sale and would only partially charge my phone before failing.

After contacting head office, I was advised to return to the store so the items could be inspected for warranty purposes.

Unfortunately, the in-store experience was extremely unpleasant. The staff member repeatedly argued with me about the specifications of the power bank, initially claiming I had been told incorrectly about its charging capacity, then later blaming the issue on my using the phone while it was charging.

When I presented the damaged cable, I was repeatedly asked for a receipt despite already showing proof of purchase via my bank transaction history and the written instructions from head office. The staff member also refused to assist in looking up the receipt in the store system when I could not immediately locate it myself.

Once I finally produced the receipt, I was then told the cable damage was my fault because I had not used a cable protector — despite the fact that no such requirement was mentioned at the time of purchase and the store does not even sell cable protectors.

The interaction became increasingly argumentative. I eventually stated that I did not wish to continue arguing and simply wanted the refund processed. I even said that she had “won the exchange” because I was trying to de-escalate the situation and move on.

At that point, the staff member stated that she refused to serve me.

This also prevented me from accessing a separate screen protection guarantee I had purchased through the same store, which includes replacement entitlements that I had intended to use during the visit.

Very disappointing customer service and an extremely poor handling of what should have been a straightforward consumer warranty issue.
