Expensive , poor communication and three weeks.

I will keep this review completely factual so that it cannot be removed.
My bmw 330e went into Fairbairn inverness and was diagnosed for £162. They said it required a starter battery £189 , an SOS battery in the roof £460 and a full HV system investigation which COULD cost £1295. My car was under a 3rd party warranty and they agreed to go ahead. We dropped the sos battery as the price was ridiculous but the rest went ahead. Fairbairns desperately understaffed service department are near impossible to reach and replys to email often took 24 hours . Eventually they discovered the auxillary heater was at fault ( is this on the HV system ? ) and they changed it but the car would not update. So off went Fairbairns experts to bmws experts for advice. They then advised us that the next stage was a new S box costing £1900 ( are you following the costs so far ? ) but this "may not remove the fault code " . By this point my warranty company had heard enough and so had I. We removed the car after Fairbairns £135 an hour experts couldn't find the fault. Neither could bmw to be fair. A three year old car with 18000 miles on it had over FOUR faulty components !!!!!! Three weeks after it arrived I removed my car unrepaired and I am in touch with bmw hq in Germany . They have built a car that their own teams struggle to repair then to buy themselves more time they fail to answer the phone or don't reply to emails. We live on the west coast and anyone living rural will understand how difficult it is to lose your car. Fairbairns have lost sight of the fact that behind EVERY vehicle they have in their packed car park is a business a commuter or a family. Their customer service centre have since replied to say they have received my complaint but feel Harry Fairbairn inverness did nothing wrong but you can judge for yourselves. Do you want to be ignored ? Do you want to pay these prices ? Do you want your car away for three weeks ? Call them and ask for servicing ...... see if they answer the phone.

Your warranty is worthless at Harry Fairnbarn

Your Car warranty is worthless at Harry Fairbairn as I discovered when my heater broke in the freezing weather. It took 3 days to get through to the Service Department - no returned calls and no apology. And then when I got through I was told I would have to wait till March to get a repair. Maybe it’s Covid, maybe it’s Brexit or maybe it’s Arnold Clark.

Our car was called in for a recall

Our car was called in for a recall , the customer service was outstanding especially from Donna on the service desk who presented a mannerly professional approach . Credit to all other staff too , they acknowledged your presence and made you feel welcome .
Also their system for adhering to Covid rules is 100% . Car was ready with in time quoted. All in all it was a first class experience . Would highly recommend without a doubt!!

Utterly shocking after sales experience…

Utterly shocking after sales experience from Harry Fairbairn Inverness. Ignoring my messages regarding having an issue resolved on a brand new £75k car. Also now ignoring those messages I’ve had BMW UK send on my behalf. Andy King is the Head of Business here and just will not take responsibility. Just pathetic. Avoid at all costs.

Absolutely disgusted.

Absolutely disgusted.. 2016 mini D low mileage bought in 2018 . Alignment in both doors are off. Seals in both doors all holes and total flooding occurred. Would expect a better build model from mini. £175 for mini technician to be called out. This was Inverness branch and stated you bought from Stirling Arnold Clark.. well it was transferred from Inverness and you are Arnold Clark. Thought all cars were checked appears not putting young woman in a very dangerous motor which is now not suitable to drive. Legal action now required. Would advice people to think before buying from rogues

Excellent

I vowed never to use an Arnold Clark again given my past experience. However, there was a decent deal on a car I loved at the Harry Fairbairn Inverness. I dealt with a gent called George throughout - he was polite, informative & professional. My only criticism is the length of time to wait for the car to be ready to pick up - but I cannot blame the branch as it was out of their hands. I would happily return to this Harry Fairbairn branch.

No response from service department at Harry Fairbairn BMW Inverness

Total of 5 phone call to enquire about the cost of the first service for my BMW i3. After the first 3 failed attempts I contacted the CEO of Arnold Clark (the parent company) to complain. The Service Dept did then phone me back but I couldn't take the call so returned it a few days later.

Same deal again. Two more phone calls and no effective or meaningful response. Did manage to talk to someone who took my car details then put me on hold and shortly after, for some reason, hung up on me. Tried again, left a message with someone else in the Service Dept (I assume it was the Service Dept.). 'Someone will phone you back today'. As of 5.45pm same day still no response.

I'm not a difficult customer. I understand these places can be busy. But 5 attempts and no proper response really is beyond the bounds of what is reasonable. Their automated phone system is confusing and largely hopeless, too. Doesn't do much for your patience when it sends you round in circles and you end up back with the receptionist as it did with me.

Interestingly, I contacted two other BMW franchises (neither part of the Arnold Clark group) in Perth and Dundee with the same service price request. Both got back to me by email within 24hrs with all the information I needed as well as a competitive price for my car's first service.

My recent experience is a huge contrast to when I bought a brand new i3 from Harry Fairbairn BMW Inverness 18 months ago when I was dealt with in a very pleasant and professional way by the Sales Dept. Utterly faultless transaction.

There seems to be something seriously wrong with the Service Dept systems, or the staffing levels, training, supervision and motivation of the personnel in the Service Dept. Maybe all of those things?

I'm left with the overwhelming impression that they don't want my business. On the basis of what I've experienced they really don't deserve it either.

Inefficient...rude...ignorant staff

Dont lower your standards if you go in here, but please lower your expectations. Inefficient...rude...ignorant staff. They will never get my custom again. I'd rather drive the 200 mile round trip to Perth BMW where they are at least polite.
Selling 1st class cars but ZERO class staff.

I would 100% recommend going to Harry…

I would 100% recommend going to Harry fairbairn Inverness for a car or a service, they were very polite greeting me and taking the keys off me for my car. I had major previous problems with the garage before which involved me putting my car in three times for them to tell me it was fixed but it wasn’t however when I put my car into Harry fairbairn they identified the problem within 10 mins and then fixed it straight away no hassle at all by two very nice young mechanics one that I know already and trust. Overall very happy experience.

Ensure all documents in place if you intend buying a vehichle here

Bought a Range Rover Evoque from H.F. Mini Inverness in November.
Now some 4 months + later I am still waiting for the logbook.
Lots of promises from sales manager from the sales manager in Inverness ,also from the customer services manager. in Glasgow.
Both unfortunately seem to be unable to tell the truth.
Very Disappointed, will never deal with A.C. again.

Gave the car back!

Gave the car back!
I bought a 2014 BMW 328i M Sport spending £16,000 on the vehicle from Harry Fairburn BMW in Inverness.
I live in Berkshire and they took a video of the car and pointed out various damage which they promised to repair.
Sadly, when I picked the car up from the Milton Keynes depot a couple of weeks later I found that not only had much of the damage been untouched but they were also several marks on the vehicle that had not been pointed out to me at all - had they have been I may have reconsidered buying the car with the number of marks and scratches on virtually all panels of the car!
After speaking to the Sales Manager, they advised me that I could take the car to my local BMW dealer whose bodyshop could assess and repair the damage at their expense. On the strength of this, I paid my balance and took the car home.
When I went to my local dealer, their representative went round the vehicle pointing out that even the works that had been done had been done poorly and said it would be £3,000 to repair all the damage (various chips, scratches and scuffs)!
Although they made me a 'cash back offer' to keep the car, I elected to return the car in return for a full refund plus my expenses back BUT I had to take the car back to the Milton Keynes depot and get the train home because they refused to collect the car from me - SHOCKING!
This experience was SO NOT what I expect from a BMW main dealer and I would advise extreme caution if buying a car from this dealer on the strength of a video and a promise!!!
I have since bought a lexus IS300h and the Lexus dealer has been the polar-opposite offering outstanding service.

Poor customer service

I wish I had known prior to purchase that this was in fact an Arnold Clark Company. Harry Fairbairn Inverness Mini give the same low level of service as all the other Arnold Clark Companies reviewed on Trustpilot. As soon as you have paid over your money they have no further interest in you the customer. Great product that the Mini is it such a pity that the whole experience is spoiled by such an inept dealer.
