Scunthorpe Harvey’s Discount Store - excellent service
After having a bad experience with SCS, me and my partner were quite reluctant and anxious to go shopping for a sofa again. When walking into the store we were immediately put to ease and welcomed and left to have a look around instead of the typical sales man who follows you around for a sale. Steve did his very best to make sure we had the best deal, and were looked after and after hearing about our bad experience offered to lend us a sofa until our arrived so we didn’t have to sit on deck chairs. Steve went above and beyond to help us, was friendly and welcoming and I will definitely be coming back if I ever need any furniture. Very happy customer indeed. Want to thank Steve as you have restored our faith in sales and had nothing but the customers needs at heart.

Useless, bad quality
Useless, rubbish customer service and can never seem to help with anything, was on the phone 2 hours almost, 1 hour 30 of this was waiting to get through to somebody, my partner and I have probably been on the phone to Harvey’s a total of 15+ hours over the past 2 month trying to resolve an issue! Asked to speak to a manager also and they wouldn’t even do that.
Not generally someone to write a review or speak negative of a company but never experienced such bad service! Had my sofa 3 weeks and we were beginning to feel the wooden frame through the cushions, we ordered a sofa online we’d seen in store, however the sofa was delivered with the terrible quality cushions, not the cushions it was on display with. There was no online option of the cushions so to our knowledge we believed we would receive what we sat on in store.
Theyve sent 2 people out to review the sofa, got despise of “there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just really bad quality” and also the second guy said “there’s nothing that can be done to resolve the problem” after speaking to someone in store the other day he said there is an option of upgrade when purchasing this in branch and even now we would be happy to pay for the upgrade but nobody seems bothered.
Never have I ever been so disappointed with a product and a company as a whole. Wish we’d never bought our sofa from here and would definitely recommend people not to use this company!
Horrendous company
Horrendous company. No contact made after initial order placed. Had to chase and chase for delivery information. No one knew where my order was and no one ever bothered to call me back. Went into store and asked for someone to take ownership, which they did for 1 day and then never heard back. Contacted them through phone (waiting up to an hour to speak to someone who sounded like the didn’t give a toss), email where there is always a 5 days to respond even if you reply seconds after they contact you, Facebook messenger also takes 3 days to reply! No one cared that they were providing awful service. In the end after seeing so many awful reviews in their Facebook page showing that the issues don’t end after they finally locate you sofa and give you a delivery date, I decided to cancel my order. So the one plus was that they cancelled it quickly and returned my deposit quickly. Will never use them again, instead I’ll stick with DFS!
I have always brought my furniture from Harveys
I have always brought my furniture from Harvey’s always great quality. I brought my last 2 seaters from here and the only reason I’m getting a new 1 is they are 15 years old and I need a change.
Hanif is a lovely gentleman very helpful and nice to be around
Can’t wait to order the rest of my furniture. 100% Great

Harvey’s at Eastbourne were great when ordering our new sofa corner unit. The manager was fantastically knowledgable and extremely helpful.
Very helpful
Very helpful, Andrew took my Intial phone call and when I arrived at store made sure to give and check the information I had on the products I wished to order. He made ordering easy and also explained about other products that I might consider. Hopefully the completion of my order will be just as worry free

AVOID
Ordered dining room furniture late October early November staff in store great. Were given a delivery date of 19/12/18. Received confirmation that delivery was ok and expected time between 1-6pm. Arranged to be in then missed a call 2 hours prior to the first slot. A message was left on our answerphone to call Harvey’s. Waited over 40 mins to speak to someone when we got through we spoke to an obstructive customer service rep. Long story short delivery was cancelled with 2 hours notification no real eplaination apart from “stock issues”. Awaiting an email explaining what is happening however I’ve been let down on delivery 5days before Christmas. Shocking customer service and Harvey’s have the audacity to charge separate delivery charges on top of the purchase price, something you are unable to avoid paying. At the moment my advice is to avoid this company as their after sales care is appalling.
Ordered a settee from Harvey’s
Ordered a settee from Harvey’s. On the day of delivery van turned up with all paperwork but no settee! I’ve called them every day sometimes twice a day since this happened eight days ago. Believe it or not they are still searching the warehouse for my settee. Meantime I’m sat on cushions waiting. Terrible, terrible, terrible service. I can’t stress this enough. Do NOT buy from Harveys !

### BUYER BEWARE ####
I ordered a corner sofa feb/march last year..cost after negotiated discount.. £3000.
This included £420 for 5yr care and protection plan.
Communication was very good. Kept getting regular texts confirming 16 week delivery time was on course. Got a call 2 weeks before saying that sofa was being delivered to Harveys warehouse the following week for quality control and would be delivered the following week. All very good.
The van arrived on time and the 1st piece of 6 brought into the house was the corner piece and it was damaged. Foot missing and was torn on the bottom. Told driver we where rejecting it. He agreed that we should but he would leave it with us as we d disposed of our old one. He even said that we should insist on the whole sofa be replaced to get a perfect colour match. Phoned customer services straight away and told them. They apologised and said they would send engineer out to inspect. I insisted that it would only be for their benefit as I was rejecting it. Engineer arrived and his 5 minute inspection consisted of him sliding his phone under the sofa and taking a photo. He also took a photo of the photo my wife had on her phone!
A few days later customer services phoned and said they are only prepared to repair. I told them this was not acceptable. Wrote recordered delivery rejection letter to head office and emailed them the same. Didnt even aknowledge either.
I then decided to cancel the care and protection plan as I no longer trusted them. The exclusions far outweighed the benefits. I went instore and cancelled the plan in writing within the 14 day right to cancel period. This was accepted by the manager Tracy on 16th July 17. She said that was ok and would get ball rolling. In their terms and conditions we where entitled to full refund.
Meanwhile still no response regarding replacement. Then one of the chair units started to sag. Really couldn t be bothered with a big legal battle so spoke to customer services on 01.08.17 and we agreed to let them repair both units and as long as we where happy with repair they agreed to pay me £120 compensation. She also confirmed care plan had been cancelled and a refund would follow. A few days later an engineer repaired both units and everything is now fine.
Then the real problems started. Spoke to them at end of August and they said that care plan was still active and had not been cancelled after all and I would need to speak to store who would ring me next day. Nothing. Waited few days went over to store. They confirmed it had and showed me on computer. Fine. 2 weeks passed..another visit. Low and behold there was a problem and they need to speak to salesman who was off. They would ring in 3/4 days. Again nothing. This went on through Sept and into Oct. 7 x hour long round trips and numerous phone calls to store and still they where going to sort it.
They tried every excuse. The salesman said he d given the care plan for free as our discount. Not true and we had receipt to prove. Then they said they gave us discount on sofa on condition we took out care plan. Again not true or even legal.
Eventually Nina their instore finance assistant who we d been dealing with throughout all of this agreed that everything had been resolved and she would authorise refund. She said it would take 24hrs to unlock account and a further 7/8 days for refund to show. This was middle of Oct 17. Waited until Nov and spoke to Nina again. She checked and confirmed it had been done but could take upto 28 days to show. Waited until beginning of December. Spoke to Nina and low and behold it hadn t actually been done after all because there was another problem. Apparently this time we hadn t cancelled it on time! We did. Then she said we should have cancelled it with care company. Not true as states in Harveys terms.
It s now very apparent that they had no intentions of voluntarily refunding our money or paying us the £120 damage compensation and where actually prepared to lie about it.
We started proceedings in small claims court. They initially had 14 days to respond. They did and said they where going to contest both issues. They had 28 days to respond. However within that period we got a letter saying they are no longer contesting it and a cheque for full amount would follow which it did on 05/01/18.
I cannot believe that any company would behave in such a disgusting unprofessional manner never mind a national company.
No wonder they where on watchdog!!
