Classic scammer behaviour, do not provide any details to this company,
My parent's received a call today from this "company". They initially spoke to my father, who is a tad gullible and took them at their word that they had previously dealt with his PPI claim. They wanted my mothers NI number, it was at this moment my mother stepped in told my father to hang up.
They called back and I answered this time after having performed some research on the company, this time however i was told the company name was actually "Help your Tax", not "Help your Claim". I had already looked up Help your Claim online and found very little legitimate information other than an article about how they had been fine £350,000 for some misdemeanor. They do not have a website, this is a huge red flag.
I advised them we were not interested and to remove the number from their system. They were adamant about convincing me they were legitimate, they even provided some details of the previous claim they had "helped" with, I checked with my mother who advised the numbers and dates provided didn't match up. (Additionally, these kinds of business shouldn't be providing this kind of information over the phone to someone who wasn't even involved which I wasn't.)
This is classic scammer behaviour. Never be fooled by some cold caller who has a few vague details about you. It is dreadfully easy for these people to scrape information about your from the internet, chances are a company that you have dealt with in the past has experienced a data breach and this information is hovering about.
Another red flag, it is highly irregular for a legitimate company to call from a mobile number.
Do not click on any links they send you, do not provide any information over the phone. This should be the same attitude you take with any unprompted phone call you receive, even if it's from your bank. (Legitimate companies avoid this type of behaviour because they know it raises suspicion.)
