Guy at the counter told me I wouldn't…
Guy at the counter told me I wouldn't get charged for the last day, "because we take care of our Gold members." Got charged for the last day.
I tried changing the "preferred card"…
I tried changing the "preferred card" on the app and repeatedly go an "oops, something went wrong" try again later.
Then the 2 staff working the CAK Hertz counter were working hard but appeared overwhelmed with customers. They did not have the "GOLD" line in use which caused all customers to stand in line for the "next person" call to be heard. I stood in line over 40 minutes waiting for the key which was in plain sight, but because there were so many people waiting and had been waiting for a long time, I wasn't about to cut in and say, "Hi I'm a GOLD member and my key and name is right there." So I chose to wait.
One of the staff members commented a few times apologizing to customers and then stated our system is really old - from the 90's.
I think they were trying their best, yet there are workflow and coaching opportunities here to make improvements.
Again, the staff were very polite and did their best. I believe it is a systems problem that should be addressed. Thank you.
The Ole' Switcheroo
I reserved a mid-size vehicle for my weeklong visit. The "only" vehicle left at the same rate was a Jeep Rubicon. The clerk said he would have to charge me an upgrade of $10 if he gave me a car...not the Jeep. I didn't want to pay because Hertz didn't have what I reserved. I agreed to the Jeep. It was extremely difficult for me to get in and out of it. It road terribly. The large tires made the Rubicon jump all over the road while driving. I had to ask my phone how to roll down the windows. I had to drive this vehicle every day and hated it more each day. I am extremely unhappy with the choice of Hertz.
SUV was not for me

Dirty Car!
The car was dirty. The back hatch area was not swept as there was dead grass all over. There was perhaps a chocolate substance dripping down the plastic area where the seatbelt is on the side of the car and there was some white substance dropping down the console in the middle between the front seats. I was disappointed that I had to clean the car before I could leave on my work trip. The seats were also all stained.
A steady decline in quality
As a longtime Hertz and President’s Circle member, I have seen a study decline in the quality of their service. This time was one of the worst, with an old car with 40,000 miles that hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time being provided. This will be the last time I use Hertz.
