45 min wait time at gate to exit facility. Car smelled of weed. Got 7 seater instead of 8 in confirmation. When asked reception said this was the only vehicle. Worst Hertz experience in 15 years as a customer.

We did have an issue if not being able to bypass the counter in pickup with no explanation given. That kept us from giving it a 5 star rating

Every employee I interacted with was ok. When I had to exchange the car due to the engine light, the person that was looking over the car that I dropped off was rude. The new car did not seem to ride smoothly.
Horrible Hertz
Made upgrade prior to flight to mid size sedan, sent me to the dreaded President's circle - a bunch of unrented minivans, compacts, and chose the compact Buick, but didn't know until I got on the road that it didn't have a FM radio. Then try to contact someone at Hertz on the phone while driving - good f'in luck. Chat support 4 th agent did confirm that vehicle does not have a FM radio and Sirius can't be activated once rented. I've rented cars from Hertz for 30 years and I didn't even know they rented cars w/o a FM radio, much less in the "President's Circle"

Initially there was an issue with the size of the car and that my reservation was not marked as President’s Circle. They immediately gave me a larger car and I was completely satisfied, again, with my experience with Hertz.
Stop the hard sell on insurance and prepaid Gas
Liked: Easy to pickup and return vehicle. Disliked: Tedious paging through the insurance and fuel options both upon Booking Process and check in. Somehow even though I selected the 'No Prepaid Fuel' option, the system still signed me up for it. This has happened to me with the last two Hertz rentals. I have good personal insurance that covers all that Hertz wants to hard sell me on, and I never use enough fuel to make the prepaid fuel option worth it.

Usually good experience with Hertz
Usually good experience with Hertz, however this trip I booked a large van and it was a base model Kia with minimal options. Usually it’s a pretty premium ride. Also, the interior had soda stains in the back plastic panels which makes me feel like the vehicle was not throughly sanitized.
$400 smoking fee when there was no smoking at all
This was just a 1 day rental, for which I was quoted a price of $24. After returning the car to the Phoenix airport, the Hertz guy said everything was fine and that I’d get a receipt by email. Then when I got the receipt, I saw a whopping and surprising $400 fee for smoking in the car. That is ridiculous and false. No one smoked in the car. We had to call Hertz like 3 or 4 times to explain before they said the $400 charge would be removed. Then a few days later, the charge of $424 was debited from my bank account. We had to call multiple times again, and on Friday, September 4, they said they would process the refund manually that same day. Now it is Tuesday, September 8 — a full 8 days after the one day rental — and the $400 refund still hasn’t appeared on my bank account yet. This is very frustrating and disappointing.
Quick and easy
The ease with which I was able to get to the car and the check out process was quick as well. The car was also clean and to me, that's important.
