Hidden policy traps customers in scam fees and disrupts trips
Refused to rent car due to arbitrary age restriction on larger cars (mind you the website only explicitly says that certin collections are restricted and i have been permited to rent a car of this size from hertz before).
Even though the website was fully aware of age at the time of booking several months prior they waited until the day of my week long trip to inform me that I'm screwed and there is nothing I can do but call the "gold line" which never picked up to maybe get some help.
Even better they did not automatically cancel the car after refusing to rent it and I had to call some refund line that only "waived" the 200 dollar cancelation fee which I supposedly owed even though its their own hidden policy.
Finally the guy at the desk clearly crossed out his mobile number to avoid direct accountability on his card when he handed it to me.
Overall this is almost indistinguishable from a scam looking for any reason to trap people in fees for policy's that are not explicit, available, or clear to begin with.
I will be canceling my AAA and not using hertz in the future.
