Friendly staff, and car quality was good. The wait at the train station was quite a bit longer than at other pick up locations, but everything else went well.

The counter tried to force me into paying for an upgrade saying there were not any cars available even though I had a reservation and there was a significant wait time.

Inaccurate information online and via customer service BEWARE!

I booked a rental online for 4 days with return on Saturday 9/12/26 at the Delaware Amtrak station. I returned the car on time but was charged for an additional 2 days ($181.18). When I booked the rental on hertz.com I was not informed that this location would be closed at the booked drop off time or that I would incur an extra 2 day fee on this hertz.com booking. The day the rental return was due, I searched for directions to the drop off site and saw that the location was closed. I called Hertz customer service in the morning on 9/12 and after a long wait I spoke to a live representative. They told me there was no place at that location to drop off the rental and keys and that I would have to go to the Hertz at 500 Hercules Rd in Wilmington, DE which would be open at the scheduled noon drop off time. I called that location and the phone message said that they were closed on Saturdays. After another long hold I spoke to another live Hertz agent who said 500 Hercules Rd was open according to your website but then they attempted to call the location and received the same recording as I had that they were not open Saturdays. This agent told me again that there was no key drop at my original scheduled drop off location and that I would have to take the car to the Hertz at Wilmington Airport. They assured me that this location was open. I drove to that location and it was closed and there was a sign next the the key drop box saying that location was temporarily closed and rental return was not allowed. Speaking to yet another Hertz representative I was then told to go to a 4th location, a 50 minute drive away, at the Philadelphia Airport. At this point I was at risk of missing my train from my originally scheduled drop off location at the Delaware Amtrak station. This agent, Joy, said that she would connect me to roadside assistance and Hertz would tow the car from my original drop off location at the Delaware Amtrak station at Hertz's expense. Joy promised to stay on the line and explain this to the roadside assistance agent but the call was dropped. I called back yet again and spoke to a roadside assistance agent who told me that I would have to pay for this tow myself or I could leave the car at the Amtrak station with the keys in the glove compartment and they would bill it as a lock out. At this point , after nearly 2 hours on the phone with Hertz, I arrived at the Amtrak station on time for the scheduled drop off. My husband ran inside and there WAS a key drop box. I was shocked to get an additional charge from Hertz for 2 days. After all of this stress and several agents providing incorrect location hours and information from your own website I expect a full refund for this horrible experience. At the minimum, as a President's Circle member, I expect the $181.18 charge refunded. However, for this extreme inconvenience and all the errors and misinformation on your end I would like all of money I paid for this rental refunded however it has been over 1 week after I submitted this on their website contact form and I ha bc e heard nothing. When I have a free 30 minutes to wait on their phone line I will try again to call.

The car was great

The car was great. Clean and new. Pick up and drop off were not a problem because it wasn't too busy. The biggest problem is phone response. I wanted to call the desk to let them know I'd be late picking up the car, and I had a question about returning the car early and in no case was I able to get a human to pick up and the automated phone options could not do what I needed. Please get a person to answer the phone.
