Nice bike, shame about the rest of it

I test rode a used bike at the dealership and agreed to buy it. I pointed out that the initial battery voltage seemed very low but was assured that it was fine. I accepted this, but when I went to pick it up, once again it was well below 12V and expressed my misgivings. I was extremely sceptical of the response given but took the bike anyway. I use the bike regularly both for pleasure and daily use even through the winter, but on the 31st December on a particularly cold morning it struggled to start. For the third time I informed HGB and asked for a new battery under guarantee but was fed more rubbish about 'modern bikes turn over more slowly that you might be used to' and 'there is a significant difference between the actual voltage and what is indicated on the dash' (there isn't as I checked with a multimeter). Then inevitably when I had arranged to join friends for a day out on the first sunny (relatively!) warm day on 7th Jan (one week after last using the bike) the battery failed. When I rang HGB I spoke to James the manager this time. In all fairness he apologised and arranged to courier a new battery to me which arrived on Thursday evening, but, sorry HGB, the damage had already been done.

After a recent MOT highlighted a safety recall…

After a recent MOT highlighted a safety check recall on my 2007 Honda Fireblade, I made phone contact with three Honda Motorcycle dealers. Two promised to call me back (but never did). However when I made contact with HGB Motorcycles service department they couldn't have been more helpful.
An appointment was made for an inspection and when I arrived the bike was quickly checked in, and within an hour the safety inspection was complete with no action found to be required.
The lady at the service desk was very helpful checking the bike in, and made sure I had the inspection paperwork and service book signed and stamped once the check had been completed.
Top marks from me, great service from HGB.
Thanks

I emailed HGB Motorcycles Park Way…

I emailed HGB Motorcycles Park Way Ruislip, HA4 8NS England asking about availability of a Honda cb500f costing £6000, I was contacted by Kevin on 14th April 2022 stating that he had one in Black available, I paid a £200 deposit.

It was to be delivered to East Kilbride, Scotland, Kevin forwarded costing for delivery from motorcyclesdeliveryuk.co.uk which they had quoted £200, this was all agreed.

Weeks went by without any communications and so I telephoned them, kevin was off sick and so delivery was agreed by the owner Mike to be Monday 9th of May, although I assume he had forgotten to mute his phone and was heard asking if his driver was going to be able to deliver the bike on the 9th May and not motorcyclesdeliveryuk.co.uk as quoted, I asked him to email me confirmation of delivery date.

Another fortnight passed still no direct communications from them since taking my £200, in the meantime I had taken out insurance to commence on Monday 9th May for the delivery date.

By Friday the 6th May I still had heard nothing direct, I telephoned, kevin was back saying“ Oh thanks for reminding me I had forgotten all about that, I’Il contact motorcyclesdeliveryuk.co.uk for a date “ I told him Mike had arranged delivery for Monday 9th, this date is not happening.

As my insurance was to begin on the 9th I called HGB on Saturday 7th for any delivery update, Mike had answered the call and I asked if we were any further forward with a delivery timeframe indeed that he’ had organise the drop off for the Monday 9th

His exact words were “ I’ll pass you over to Kevin, kevin deal with this guys He’s Having a Nervous Breakdown”

Here we are in 2022 with huge mental health awareness especially through the unpaid work of many Bikers, I suffer from mental health issues myself to such a degree that I had to withdraw from the Fire service.

Clearly “ Mike owner of HGb Motorcycles believes this to be Hilarious behaviour. What else is he saying behind customers or staff's backs, there is something way off with this company regarding communication and repugnant arrogance.

For me this is not only distasteful but gives cause for concern. It makes me think twice as to why a selling company would stall on picking up £6200 on an available motorbike.

Perhaps the bike was never available or has been damaged makes me think twice and I think you should to before parting with your hard earned cash.

Overall I do not trust HGB motorcycles and I will not be dealing with them now or in the future, what if something goes wrong with a motorcycle, does anyone reading this think they will Care!

No AfterSales Service

I purchased a £24K Honda Goldwing in March 2021. The purchase process to be fair to HGB was excellent, however, as part of the deal there was a complimentary 3 services deal (this offer is still current on all new Goldwing’s). Somehow HGB processed the vehicle incorrectly so my bike was not included, I am not sure what HGB did wrong but there has been no follow up from them. I have written to them now several times and my frustration is they don’t even respond to my mail. HGB are only interested in selling you a bike the after sales is frankly appalling. Thankfully not all Honda bike dealers are as useless as HGB, Farnham Honda have been fantastic in resolving my issue. I am a prolific purchaser of bikes and change my bike every 12 months, I won’t be purchasing anything else from HGB!

Parts Department were excellent

I can only talk about their parts department who were brilliant. The price was great and they delivered exactly on time. I also asked them for a price on another part which turned out to be no longer available from Honda but they sourced me a link to another EU dealer who still had one in stock - what service.

Excellent- 5 years customer

I have used this company for the last 5 years and cannot fault. I have had 4 bikes from them and had them all serviced with them. They remember my name and always give a good deal for good repeat customers.
I am sorry that I am moving from the area and having to sell my bike.
But this company is the best.

Great customer experience

I bought a helmet from them through eBay. When it arrived, it had a broken part. I contacted Steve and he requested I return it for a replacement. I went to the showroom as I am not too far way and Steve gave me an upgrade and I walked out with a nice upgraded helmet.
Pleased with my experience and it was a pleasure dealing with Steve

Ordered honda part and took one month to deliver.

To be fair they rang and told me it would take at least two and a half weeks.

I asked them I didn’t want to assemble it as I know the complication. They said no problem we will do.

It arrived un assembled with no manual..

NOT JUST ONE BAD EXPERIENCE... ALMOST A DECADES WORTH OF THEM...

NOT JUST ONE BAD EXPERIENCE... ALMOST A DECADES WORTH OF THEM...

This is a long one, but I have used all of the HGB Honda locations, ... so have plenty to say.. nothing good, apart from HGB tyres South ruislip.

I had a CBR125R that I learned on about 8 years ago that I bought privately, took it into HGB Honda main dealer a few times for repairs, MOTs, maintenance etc. I realised then that clearly these guys don't live in the modern world in terms of customer service... as even Poundland now offer phenomenal customer service relative to these guys.

So when it came to purchasing my first 'big bike' back in 2011, I went to Chiswick Honda (on a side note, this is how a main dealer should be run.... not for the costa inside, the size, or all the other bells and whistles, just for good old fashioned service, knowledge and a professional experience).

Anyway, I've lived a stones throw away from HGB for almost all my life, so after the first few services with Chiswick, I thought I'd pop into HGB for an MOT for convenience, (I figured it had been some years since my last AWFUL experience with these guys, they cant still be that bad).... I was completely wrong....

My first real complaint about these guys is, they talk to everyone like they are ars****es!! They all seem to have adopted a 'holier-than-thou' attitude and asking too many questions results in you being talked to like a complete and utter imbecile. There is one guy in particular at the Main dealer that is very good at this. Pop in one day and if he's working you'll know exactly who I'm talking about. So again, I took a three year break from these muppets at the same time I moved to Devon (service is great everywhere there :) gotta love the countryside bike dealers)!

So three years later and I've moved back to London, and again I made the fatal flaw of forgetting just how bad they were... and having had my bike in storage for a while decided to take it into them for a service and MOT. It was a quiet day, the afore mentioned ignorant, know it all wasn't working and I booked my bike in for a service, MOT and safety check. I was quoted £160 for the lot and figured they'd find a few things here and there which is to be expected when the bikes been standing for a little while and expected to pay about £230-250. They called a few days later and told me the front tyre would pass MOT but would need to be replaced within a month or so... which was fine...

I come to collect the bike, asked what had been done etc and if there was anything I needed to worry about as i'm not hugely mechanically inclined... I was told no all was well we did the service and MOT just the front tyre as discussed needs to be replaced... then they asked me for £335!! I asked why and the chap said 'ohhh, errm, Im not sure, something about your lights, I'll have to find out...!!!!! Then looked at the invoice and reeled off a load of stuff that I'm certain didn't really need to be done... (and now looking at some other reviews, I'm not even sure if they were done). Regardless, I paid and left, only as if I stayed any longer I would have lost my temper!

I went to the accessories shop next door the next day for a load resistor and again was treated like Id asked to sleep with his wife. As one last ditch attempt being impatient, waiting on amazon, I went to Daytona where they charged my £35 for a £6 oxford resistor! Then told me the next day when I went to return it having received my delivery where they told me they charged me for the wrong part number!!!

Anyway, after all this I do have to mention that the lads at HGB Tyres South Ruislip are absolute gents... polite, courteous, friendly, professional and always willing to share their knowledge and experience with those that are keen to learn about their bikes and have even gone above and beyond on some occasions for me so I hope they do not get tarred by the reputation of the rest of the organisation. There are more stories than this, but this is already become a short story in itself... So if you've made it this far down to the bottom of this review, i'll summarise and clarify....

HGB HONDA ARE AN ABSOLUTE JOKE... BAD ATTITUDE DOESNT EVEN COME CLOSE... AND IM FAIRLY CERTAIN THEY ARE CON ARTISTS. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME BUT READING SOME OF THE OTHER REVIEWS IT IS CLEAR.

I MYSELF AM GOING TO CONTACT HONDA UK AS FOR A MAIN DEALER....THIS IS DISGUSTING!!!!
